It's going to be another long short day.

If anyone's noticed I've become rather active on here which means I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do at work. It's become pathetically slow. I show up & they're required to give me 4 hrs. 4hrs of...NOTHING. It makes for a very long day for such a short day.
At least I have Mylot to help pass the time.

Yeah, that sucks. I just quit my job at Zellers after 15 years. I was working freight. I've done everything else in that store, too. Before Christmas, we were getting more hours than I wanted and there was lots of freight to work. So even though I was in all kinds of pain, at least I had something to do. After Christmas, we went right back down to 4.5 hour shifts. I was getting 9 hours a week after working there for 15 years! What a frakkin' joke! Plus, all we did was work old freight. So the shifts DRAGGED. I hope things pick up for you soon!

I've already started another job. You're absolutely correct. Jobs are hard to come by. I got hired at a new job before I quit Zellers. I got the training out of the way and even worked a couple of shifts on my own before my last day there. The manager told me I'd get at least 3 days a week. It's minimum wage in a gas station but it's still more money!

I did notice you being here more often...nothing wrong with that but I know what you mean about nothing to do at work.
i have days like that and it drives me nutty, I rather be busy any day than sit around waiting for time to go by.

Around here it's either feast of famine. They either have very little to do & your sitting around for 4 hrs before getting kicked out or they have us buried alive with work. We've had nothing since before Christmas but by the end of this week we'll be slammed & working weekends ( usually just to get sent home early during the week so we lose our overtime ).

When I worked at a restaurant way back in the 70's they had a motto--If you have time to lean, you have time to clean! Go make something better in your workplace.
Why do they have to give you 4 hours, anyway? Why not just tell you there's no work and let you stay home?

We've spent the month cleaning. A hundred cleaners is hardly necessary. If they'd call up the house & say "There's no work, you can stay home!" I'd take it, but they don't. If I make the 45 minute drive to get here then they're stuck with me for at least the 4 hrs. I've rolled so many labels now it's rediculeous.
