Right now I am to the grind. When I get home from work..I don't feel like doing anything else. I have a ton of homework and the girls want their mom to hang out with them. My b/f is doing alot of the work sround the house for me..thank goodness..and the cold weather has got me down. Sound like I'm crying yet? No...I am leading up to the fact that I want to enjoy life. Even if it is just a little bit..I want it. Even if I have to force myself out of this house to do it..I'm going to. I am going to start planning a summer vacation when I get home tonight. Well...tomorrow night..I have school on Monday night...lol..anyway. I am going to try and get out at least once on the weekend. That's not easy because I am working Saturdays and Sundays right now..but even if it's just a movie or a trip to the mall...I think it will be good for us.
Have you ever had to force yourself to have fun? What kind of things do you do to enjoy life? Any suggestions for me?

I find that if I work all day and that day turns into carving night, I just want to rest. But I do want to do carving and it's only every other Tuesday night. I already had a prior commitment on one of those Tues, so I can only go to one a month. So for once a month, I can force myself.
Right now, having the gas $ or any $ to have fun is the challenge, I'm just paying bills lately.

I was carving a mushroom, the top is good, the base is not bad, the part inbetween is too think and looks like garbage. The pinecone I was doing looks like something the squirrels ate part of. But I read about a guy in his 90s who is a really, really neat carver, he started out very young and said he ruined a lot of wood. Right now he's making a wooden carved memory quilt of all the holocost children. There is another carver doing an exhibition, a Tibetan Monk who will be demonstrating at our college. I hope I'm able to go see him. Strange how there didn't seem to be anything having to do with carving and now there is like this entire carving world out there.

Money can be a challenge. How is your carving hobby going?
I am thinking of going hiking if it's warm enough. Strolling would even be nice. I just want out right now. The sun has brought with it a sense of restlessness...lol..Thanks for responding.

Kind of like a car...you never see many until you buy one.
Well..your still learning and I would say that it is not an easy art. You can erase sketching and wash off paint...there is really no room for error in our new hobby. One wrong chip and you might ned an entire piece of wood.
Sounds like some interesting exhibits!

The weather turned warm last week, so we grilled one day, we took walks and we also went to the zoo in another city. I am not working or going to school, but I am almost constantly online or doing house stuff or cooking. I never seem to want to go anywhere. These were major good days for me and getting out made life much more enjoyable.

I always spent my time to enjoy my life. Usualy I go to watch movie or try some new food in the restaurant. From those tow activity try some new food is the most I like. I usualy go there with my friend or family. So my suggestion for you, that you should watch movie or eat in the restourant and the most important thing you shouldn't go alone, you have to go with friends or go with you boy friend.

Good Luck Jen! I know you will do it.
Coming to forcing. Last day of the last month, that is December 2010, I was so bored of the run-in-the-mill job that I struck out the last 7 days of January 2011. And guess what, it so happened that we managed to get a week long holiday. Every day we looked at the calender and my boss and me laughed at it. But then. it did happen. How? I have no clue! It was like reliving 'Secret'. So, when you hope for something really bad, it will bound to happen. I wish you luck and keep us updated.

Is everybody home on Sundays? If so take an hour and have family time. Play a game , add an hour and see a movie. Connect before everyone goes to finish their homework.
As for the mall, Sounds Great. First you are out of the house. Second, you are walking, Third, It's Shopping!!. If you are like me , it is fun just the window shop. I can';t tell you how many times I found am item on one of these trips and then months or weeks later , went back and got it because I needed.

On most evenings we are. I am just too tired sometimes to enjoy it to be honest. I also have papers and stuff to do throughout the week for school. Even when I am doing homework I use my laptop to station myself in the middle of my family so we are always around one another.
The winter is always very busy..in the summer I won't be working near as much. I'll have my vacation days and I will only do a 5 day week. sigh...those are the days.

I think you are being very clever. Where are you planning to go?
I think a wander around the mall isn't that great, but to each their own, besides, most of the malls here are failing. Guess I need to try one of the malls that aren't failing to walk - now that my toe is better.

Well..I like the malls but the girls really love them..lol...I am throwing a bunch of things in my mind. Hiking a little, eating out, movie..something nice. If I don't get out..I'm almost sure I'll sleep the whole time away.
As far as vacation...I'm thinking Siesta Keys. I don't know though..summers at home are nice too.

I can understand you. Everybody needs sometime for themselves. work is important for life but rest and enjoyment work as a motivator for us. i think. When you are tired and don't feel like working , postpone the work as much as you can. To enjoy like spend time with friends, go out with friends, go to some hill station to enjoy the nature. that's what i do to enjoy my like and i also love food. Mostly i take my dinner out in my fav. resturant. I love eating. I love indian, chinese food.

I know how you feel. I've been feeling really depressed lately too. My grandmom's health is declining fast and my dad is in the hospital. The snow and cold is making me want to hibernate until Spring. I know that I need to get out of the house by myself more. I also know that I need to get moving with my exercising more. That always makes me feel better.
I think you should go out and buy yourself some flowers. Then get to the nail salon and treat yourself to a manicure. I think I'll do the same for myself.

I don't know whether either of you two gals have "Groupon" or "Wagjag" in the cities near you...or if you belong...BUT my suggestion is that you look into it...as daily they offer real...and I mean real discounts for massages, spa treatments and professional nail services. Many up to 67%, so making these special treatments within reach of a lot of our budgets. Cheers!

I know exactly how you feel. I am feeling the same way right now. I feel so much stress! I think I am going to treat myself to a movie tomorrow. Just me, myself, and I. I'm going to watch what I want to watch, eat what I want to eat, and just be myself for a little while. I hope you are able to have some fun and relax a bit. What is the point of living if we can't relax every once in a while?! It sounds like you are really busy. Fitting "me" time in is so important because without it we can get burnt out and that leads to depression. I feel myself starting to get depressed lately. I just need a break. Of course, here I am at 2 am working on the computer! UGH!

I think for me enjoyment is whenever I become free from my debts. I think if we financially sound and no financial liability, whatever we wish can be done. I think and feel so. If the burden on top, I think I cannot enjoy any pleasure as all the pressure gazing at me.
Wish you all the best and enjoy as much you can.
This is the only life we can do it.
Best of luck and have a nice day.
Thank-s

I hope you become free from those soon. I have bills but at this point I have managed to bring myself to the point of little debt. I owe for my house and that is it for the moment. I would like car though.
I hope that you find a way to enjoy yourself soon..like you said, this is our only life.

How I enjoy life...I just do what i love to do. Right now am trying to discover what my passions are. I've read somewhere that our passions are those things that we love doing, without noticing the time, and without any difficulties...at all.
And I love shopping... i love malling...I love looking at the beautiful things at the mall. I really dont have to spend much.I can wall around the mall for the 24 hours without getting tired...

hi jeninten sounds like a great p lan to me and you really do deserve iot too. This awful economy with everyone having to cut back and so many people without jobs wears us all down. I am retired but here in this retirement center and being physically handicapped I feel at times isolated from doing anything thats fun anymore. I do love to mylot and that takes up a lot of my time. Then I have a health issue I have got to give in to and doctor for that. I think the only thing I am doing lately is mylotting for fun. I figure once I get my leg well I can do a few things I enjoy doing.Reading, listening to music playing bingo those I love doing. nothing exciting there,
I long to go down to the beach again on of these day and just listen to the Pacific and maybe chow down
on the best chili in the world at Charlie's chili on the beach. lol
Do you have anywhere close to you a beach where you can just listen and relax?I love to stroll along the beach and look for pretty sea shells.

I love the beach. The closest one to me is around 5 hours away. I am thinking of some hiking..I love this one waterfall that is very close to where I live too. It's been sunny Hately and I want to get out. I love myLotting too...if it wasn't for that I don't think I would have any "me time" at all right now.
I do hope you get to hear that ocean soon. Thanks for responding.

Yes, you have to do that. You need to have some way to relax and rewind once in a while. It sounds like you work a lot and if you're going to school too, you are going to burn yourself out if you don't take some time to unplug once in a while.
You can pick simple things like going out to dinner or a movie or both. A night out, once a week or whatever time frame you want, but plan it and do it. Then once in a longer while, take a long weekend and go to a recreation spot. I don't know what part of TN you are in or what's around you but I'm familiar with the area around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and there's lots of stuff to do there and a big national park especially if you like outdoor activities. Even if you just go camping or spend a night or two in a hotel and going to a "tourist" type place to do something a little out of the ordinary. It's like a mini-vacation so it's not too expensive and it gives you a chance to forget the humdrum daily grind for a bit. You'd be surprised how a little 3 or 4 day mini-trip can recharge you.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. You should absolutely take some time to enjoy life on a regular basis. Go for it!

When I worked, I often had that problem. Unfortunately, even when I forced myself to go out and do something different/fun, it was often too little and didn't really help relax me. It needs to be part of a daily routine, not a weekly/monthly/annual routine. I know that's hard; I could never do it, but my overall mental, physical and emotional states paid the price. I'd set aside time, no matter what (to heck with the house being cleaned weekly, etc.), to be with the girls. Make sure you've alloted time for the kids. That one you'll never regret. I now regret being married to work, but when I was working you couldn't tell me that someday I just wouldn't care...

I do try to set aside time for them. That is one of my most important times. I just sometimes feel it isn't enough...thus the movie choice. It's hard when your all caught up in the job and the school thing. I push myself a little...lol..I don't know how to stop sometimes though. Thanks for the response.

hello JenInTN!
that's a really very good idea, you have to relax and have some time of your own, to give yourself time to wind down and rest a bit. It would not do you good in the long run if you force yourself to work and work with no fun and relaxing in between. I have a different way when i want to relax, i sang my heart out with the Magic sing or what we call here as videoke. It exercise my larynx and throat muscle and it gives me the necessary outlet to let my stress out.Aside from dancing, it's one of my best de-stressors and relaxing activity.
Just having a picnic by the beach also calms me down and gives me that serenity which i long for during hectic days at work and at home.
