Do you have an email account set up just for myLot?

I didn't think about it when I first started myLot so my notifications and such just go to my regular email...well...the one I use most. I am ok with it that way but I have pondered the fact that one might want to have an email account just for myLot or even other social network/money-making sites and another for personal or business emails. I have multiple emails, but there is one that I use for most everything. A couple just for business. Do you have an email account just for myLot? Do you find it's easier to keep up with notifications that way or are you like me and just use your primary email?

I pretty much have mine set up that way. I have my Mylot notificatins sent to my most used email. That way I don't miss an important email while doing Mylot. I have an account set up for my writing and one for business so I don't have everything going to the same one. And I have one for shopping and for my paypal to go to as well. It works nicely for me. I think it just depends on how your head works and what is most convenient for you.

Hi Jen. Yes, this is what I do. When I first got into affiliate marketing online and then started joining traffic exchanges etc a few years back, I set up an inbox.com email address. This I use exclusively for these types of sites and these days it is mostly MyLot notifications. I get some others but mostly they are just from websites that I do not visit anymore and have not gotten around to un-subscribing from. I just delete them.
I have a Gmail account which is set up with 4 different email accounts all together in the one inbox. These are for my personal emails, business and my archery club. I also have a yahoo email account but I never access that one. My Gmail account also has some internet marketing stuff go to it as some sites will only let you use a Gmail account when you join them.
It is certainly much easier having MyLot emails separated from my personal and work ones. I can get distracted by MyLot notifications coming in, so I do not have that open all the time, just when I have time to do some MyLotting. My Gmail inbox is open all day long though.

like you, i also use my primary email. i find it confusing and complicated to open too many email accounts for different purposes. the down side too about it is forgetting the what email account for what and forgetting the password. so far i'm satisfied with using only one email. in fact, i find it convenient to open only one account and read all my updates there.

Hi JenInTN,
I had an account with gmail that I used to keep track of my work on the internet and all income and assignments were easy to manage. I used the same with mylot and it had been good until the day I had 50+ friends... Now it contains more MyLot stuff than anything else.... despite my removing a lot of settings on the preferences page still MyLot keeps that account active... Going by your discussion, I do realize that I have to get myself another soon and either the new goes to MyLot or the older other assignments move to the new one.
Thanks for a good discussion as I see it getting implemented soon to allow me easy management

I use my regular email for mylot notifications and they keep mine busy too. I love it, but I can also see that it might make things more organized if I seperated them.
There were a couple of members that also mentioned that they have their notifications filtered to a special folder. That might be a good idea too.
Thanks for responding!

Hi there JenInTN!!!
Well I still use my regular email for mylot and other money-making sites. For me it is easier this way coz I don't have to manage multiple email account and I don't have to remember many passwords.I'm just not good in remembering many usernames and passwords and I don't want to login into many accounts when I have to browse my emails.
For me it will consume a lot of time if I have many email accounts especially now that I am checking my emails regularly. It is easier for me to have only one email coz for me it is easier to see all my mails.

hi, actually I have separate emails, one personal and the other for all the online work I am doing, those are good thoughts you have because before I joined Mylot, I did not know that we would get a ton of notifications, had I mixed it with my personal email, probably I would find it just a little more difficult to manage.

I have several e mail accounts, but just use my main one for most everything. I do not seem to manage well at all. I am on another site that sends me even more e mail than MyLot and I never get it all read. My husband's primary e mail is linked to mine as well. I have some that I have done some business offers on, but this one bears the brunt of my e mails.

It is a site where you post stuff to groups. If I do not take the notifications off for the groups I get a notification of the person, plus every group we have in common, so I might get five or six notifications of the same post.

" filtering to a folder"? Do you mean putting your favorite into a folder on Yahoo? Gmail? I can tell you how.

I have several too...lol...I would have to count them up but I;m thinking you do have more than me. I was the same way...this was my first social network and I was learning. I didn't see the need and just used my primary account. I would like to learn about that filtering to a folder thing some of the responders have said they do. That might be awesome. Thanks for responding.

Yes, I do. Or at least I did when I first signed up.
I never wanted to use my primary account for mylotting. I share that one with my husband. And as we share it the last thing I wanted was our inbox to be filled with emails from mylot. I didn't want to worry about sifting through emails, especially those from family as I didn't want to miss any accidentally. And I certainly didn't want my husband deleting any of the ones I got from mylot, at least not without me going through them first, as I wanted to be the one to decide what to do with those. So I've always used a separate email account for mylotting.
And even though I still use a separate account for mylot, it has also become the email account I use for my other paying and even some of my non paying sites. So I get a lot more stuff than just the usual stuff from mylot (although the majority of it is from mylot). So much so, that it's getting harder and harder to maintain. Guess it's a good thing I've kept a separate email account for such a thing, otherwise I'd really be in trouble! LOL
Don't get me wrong, it used to be easy to maintain, but it's not that way anymore! LOL In fact, I have emails from months back that I need to go through...again! I'm half tempted to close my mylot account and start fresh (I don't care much for my username on here anyway), though at the same time I'd hate to start all over as I've been building this one up for the past 4 years.
Oh, and before I forget I have a bunch of email addresses too. Most have been forgotten about. Nowadays I only use 4...I think! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I do wish there was a way to change our names if we wanted to. I'm ok with mine here but I have a couple of email accounts that I would like to come up with something more creative. I guess it was a beginners thing..lol..
I bet it is easier that way under your circumstances. Sharing an email account too.
Where have you been anyway? I have missed having you around!
Thanks for responding.

Good morning, Jen.I do not have a separate e-mail for mylot. U know me i do well to keep up w/just one, lol. I like all my ducks in one row.. Simple is good for me. Have a good one. Did y'all get snow out of the latest storm. So far we haven't , thank heavens.

Ah...Jen, Jo and I are the two little old ducks in a row. Simple is better for me! Y'know the old expression; "keep it simple, stupid!" I do not have enough computer technology in that grey matter between my ears, to accomplish that challenge...NOR would I probably remember the passwords for multiple accounts! So it's just onwards and upwards, with sorting thru the one account each morning....and doing the sorting of nefarious nonsense myself!
Just watching the news from "back East" and seeing the map of where this "horrible" weather is hitting...I see that Nashville is in the MIX, so I truly do hope..you don't feel the brunt of this storm...my Tennesee Girls! WOW! Some areas are really suffering! BE SAFE!!!! BE PREPARED, dear ones!

No snow here this time. Mother nature sure is spanking alot of places though isn't she. Food and alternative heat sources is the only thing I can think about when I see that pink icy mix moving across the map.
I'm ok with using my primary too.

I have created an email account for topffer when I joined here to exchange mails with other members. I did not knew the PM system here : I prefer to use PMs at myLot and I don't check the "topffer" account every day. The notifications are sent to a regular account : I have created a folder for myLot, and found this solution good since I received two weeks ago the notifications of ten discussions started by a new "friend" in less than one hour. I have now a sub-folder called "Olympics" for my friends marathonians posters at myLot .

i only have 2 different email accounts. I set them both up many years ago but one of them i have not bothered to use in so many years, i dread to think of how many emails i will have in that account by now. I don't think i will check as the emails won't be that important. I never really did think of just creating another email address for things like mylot and other sites to email me, i guess i am happy with them all coming with my other emails, and also it saves me time that way as i am then not having to waste some of my time by signing in and out of different email accounts.

I wish i did win that amount, certainly could do with it. Of course it would have been a scam, i don't think that i have ever won anything, well not that i cann remember anyway. It would be pointless really signing in and out all the time. Hope that you are well.

Hi Jen. My partner and I share the business email address which makes it easier for either of us to deal withy what is happening and it is only used for business purposes. My partner does most of the administration stuff anyway even though she discusses it with me first. Both of us have an individual email address for friends and family - what goes to one generally goes to the other anyway, except when one of the children wants to keep something "secret" from one of us ..... like birthday presents or some such thing.
Like my partner I also have a separate email address for the survey sites and I also use that oine for myLot. What it means is that when I am really busy like I have been for the past year or so I just check the emails and do what I want to - can read the rest, if I have the time. But when we are extremely busy then it is more important that we deal with the business and personal family/friends stuff than something like a survey or myLot. If I had them all going to the one email address then it could get clogged up very quickly. There have been many times when I have not even had the time to check the email address for surveys or myLot for a month.

I can see how it would be easy to bog down an email account very easily when there is a lot of communication from many different sources. It can be vital to organize when there is a lot going on because it is impending doom to have maybe missed something. Thanks for responding..I am soo happy

No, I don't but I don't have to worry about a flood of notifications as my email will not allow mass emails to come through from any site. In a way it would be nice to get the notifications, but I have to say it is nice not to have my email flooded all the time. I just go in and check what I want to check when I want to check it. If my email was not like it is I think it would be a wise thing to set up another one for mylot.

Who do you use as an email provider? I have never heard of not allowing mass emails. Is it an option or just the providers way?
I like getting the notifications because it keeps me updated but there are a lot of them sometimes. Thanks for the response.

Well, I use my primary mail for myLot although I have other mails for different businesses. Didn't felt the need to open extra accoutns as I think t's too bothersome. I have a hotmail account which I rarely use unless once in a blue that I sign in Live messenger & an extra gmail account left to rot...erm...collecting spam mails, hahaha!~!~

I basically have one email account that I use for all my online business or marketing programs and another separate account for my personal email. I keep them both separate and it's much easier to know what's what. I get far too much email to do it all with one account. My MyLot notifications go to my business email which I sign into every day.
I also have a "junk" email account. You know when you want to get something at a site but they want to get your email address in exchange for it? Or you want to sign up for that contest or chance to win a million dollars from the "prize patrol"? You know they are going to send you a million emails, right? So I only give them my junk mail account. I sign in once in a while and just delete most of the junk.

An email account set up just for junk...I need one of those...lol...I think that it is a good idea to organize like that if you are a member of several sites or have a business. I have a couple of emails hanging out there an waiting on a business venture right now They might be waiting a while though...lol.
