Fear in the Shower!

People have different kinds of fears. Some are afraid of the dark so they can't sleep well at night. Others are afraid of heights. Others of enclosed spaces.
I am not afraid of heights nor i am afraid of the dark. But when I take a shower i never close my eyes. Every time i try to close my eyes strange things would come into my mind. So even when the water is dripping down my my face I never dare close my eyes. I just don't know why i feel so unsafe closing my eyes in the bathroom.
Do you have the same fear?

No! I enjoy bathing in a shower. More than that I love to bath in the water falls too. But, as you have told, I have fear about the enclosed places and I don't even like to cover the blanket from head to toe, while sleeping. I like to have my face at the least open. Yes, people have different types of phobias and yours is certainly peculiar, i think.

I can appreciate this one. As a child my father thought it would be a good start on learning to swim by just throwing me in the pool. Ever since I have had a fear of water over my head- so I too have difficulties in the shower at times.
I also have a fear of hieghts, after the same 'parent' thought it funny to hold me at the top of the local hospital (it was under construction) and feint that he were pushing me off.
Some parents really aren't very intuitive: at least mine weren't!

Hello Toni, i'm not afraid under the shower, but i got fear from the sea, swimming pools or every kind of too much water at one place. I don't know why, i just can't relax and calm down my body and to stay it to move as it wants in the water.
Also i got another thing and it's when i'm alone at the darkness i start to think - if someone look at me across the window, even if we live at 4th floor, the balcony of our neighbors is next to ours and it's easy for them to jump on ours.

No I do not have such a phobia, in fact i'm the opposite, the shower reminds me of happy times when we were children and how we siblings enjoy playing in the shower. My fear right now is the water pressure now is very low in our subdivision so no more shower, back to "buhos" (taking a bath using a dipper)

I don't have that fear but I do have the one where I don't like having my hands dangling off the bed at all because I'm afraid that something is going to bite me.I don't know why. I can be around a bunch of people but if there is so much people that I can't see nothing but people no matter where I look which I'm not around that much people very often. I feel like I'm going to pass out for some reason. I've only had that happen to me a few times in my life.

Hi, toniganzon! =)
I have no fear of the bathroom or shower. The only time I was afraid in the shower was when I saw a centipede on the wall. I was afraid it might crawl on me and bite me. So that was more of a fear of the centipede, rather than a fear of the shower.
My fear would be that of heights. Because I'm afraid I might lose my balance and fall.
I agree that this fear of yours might be rooted in something that happened to you or something that you watched. Maybe it's just that it happened when you were very young, which is why you don't remember it. Or maybe it was too traumatic for you, that you unknowingly wiped out the memory from your mind.

Fortunately, I don't have that kind of fear. My sister however had experienced that fear after watching the movie Psycho. It took her a month I think to kind of get over with it. That's why I usually refrain from watching scary movies. It sometimes makes your imagination run wild. Maybe the fear of closing your eyes when you take showers is rooted on something you've watched or have seen sometime in your past.

No dear friend i don't have such kind of fear. When i take shower then many time i close my eyes. But when i am alone in my hostel room or apartment then i really feel fear for taking shower. I don't like to stay in my room alone. Though when i am in my room then many time i was alone in my room. But now a days i can't specially i can't enter the bathroom because of my fear. But when i feel scary then i remember the name of my Allah then i don't scared. It's the power of creator Allah.
So you can also do this because you should not continue your fear.

I don't have the same fear with shower. My fear is for pitch black dark with no light at all. So, when I was in the shower my fear was if the light will turn off and I can't see anything. It's kind of strange feeling, being alone in the dark lock in the bathroom, spooky.

No i do not have any such kinda fear. The probable reason of your fear if that must have had some bad experience with something related to water in the past. You know, these are specific kinds of phobias which are related to past and the fear associated with it will remain forever in your life. Just try to recollect if you had any such bad experience with water.

My girlfriend has a familiar fear. But the reason for that is that when she was just a little kid, she was trying to learn how to swim and she almost drowned.

I have that same fear. Too much Korean films remind me to never close my eyes for too long. I see pale children with big, black irises looking right at me... And it's the worst way to get caught screaming... Naked in the bathroom, I meant.
