No, this isn't really about a landmark thing or I wouldn't have put it in cats now would I? I took a check for Maggiepie over to my vet to pay for taking her cat to the vet last week. On the way, I stopped by my bank and got some money to pay on my bill. So, I'm with the lady vet, Dr. "J" and she's hovering over the date trying to remember what day it was. I said: "Its the 3rd." "Right," she said and put it in. "It would've been my dad's 89th birthday," I told her. "Well, its "D"'s birthday," she said. "He's behind you." I turned around and wished Dr. "D" a happy birthday and then said that it would've been Sunup's birthday, she was born about 68 or 69. That's how I remembered her birthday, because she had the same birthday as my dad. When I was a horse crazy teen, I rode a horse named Sundown. When she was about 13 or 14 she got pregnant, but a handsome young stud who was running lose in the fields behind the stable property. We debated a bunch of names and ended up with Sunup, and since she was a palomino to Sunny's buckskin, it did seem especially apt. So, I'm sure Sunup is long gone like her mom (who made it to her mid-30's I might add) but I still remember the day I went out to see the pretty golden girl with the bald face and blue eyes. So, if its your birthday, happy Birthday! Just know you share it with some good folks, and a very cute little horse!

Very nice story. It is interesting how we pin things on to other things and connect it all together and put a ribbon on it. Sunup and Sundown, quite the set of names. It seems lots of birthdays in the early part of February.

Dr. "D" said he had never met anyone with his birthday before. My friend, Elaine, had a birthday in February, I still miss her!

I am beginning to feel like a slacker, so many of my friends are resolving their discussions. Thanks.

The Chinese are euphoric ushering the the year of the metal rabbit... so the yellow-skinned birthday celebrants must be having grand celebrations, too... with bunnies all around. Honestly Elic, I love horses, too.

I believe I am a snake as well. Go figure. My son love dragons, and is a dragon, my husband loves dogs, and is a dog, and I have always called my daughter a lamb, and she is a lamb. So how is it that I am a snake?

I was, and am, a horse crazy gal, never actually crazy enough to own one... but I sure rode well past the fall that should've taught me better! Yeah, year of the rabbit... they better watch out, I'm a snake!

I didn't name Sundown, tho I did name Sunup. The original owner of Sundown breed her and kept her foal, a mare named April's Love, another bald faced palomino, only with brown eyes. Sundown was a big pony, 13 hands 3 inches (that 4 inches times 13 plus 3 or said 13'3) Sunup was a small horse at 14'3, or one inch over the pony/horse divide! 35 huh? I remember that age, about where I really figured out I wasn't bullet proof!

I kind of hope Sundown is waiting for me, I loved her so much, even if she wasn't my horse! I never got to ride Sunup, but she was one of 4 horses the owner kept when she sold the stable and they were teaching jumping on her at 5 years old!
