Special weekend breakfast traditions

My daughters and I have developed a sort of Sunday breakfast tradition - every Sunday we have a Hawaiian breakfast. I know most people start thinking pineapples and coconut - but our Hawaiian breakfast is based on the breakfasts we actually had in Hawaii, usually consisting of Spam and rice.
I usually use ham (I don't care for Spam) but the kids look forward to it and on the occasions we can't or don't have it they always remind me "Next week, mama..."
I was wondering if anyone else has a special weekend breakfast they have with their kids?

I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of trying Briyani - I looked it up and it sounds delicious! I like spicy - I once made a spaghetti sauce so spicy my nose bled. Admittedly: 1. I made it wrong (used the wrong kind of pepper) 2. I was mainly eating it to prove to my husband that it wasn't too spice.
We still laugh about it.

Wow that sounds good! As a Brit, I am getting to like the US tradition of pancakes for breakfast! yumyum! Unfortunately I often skip breakfast, but recently I've been picking grapefruit from the tree next door and eating that for brekkie (I'm in Florida) which is marvelous! Failing that, I've been going for a couple of poached eggs on toast!

Oh... fresh grapefruit off the tree sounds good! I'm not extremely familiar with what the Brits have for breakfast, but I've heard that's a its a bit different. I generally don't have breakfast either - I'm just not that hungry in the morning.

I do not have a weekend breakfast tradition at the moment, but I might start doing it when I can figure it out. What I try and do is once a week prepare a omelette with their favourite fillings in.

Close enough. : ) We've always had something special we made for weekends - its been waffles and pancakes, bacon potatoes and spam omelettes (I don't even like spam I don't know how that keeps ending up in my breakfast). But we've been sticking with our Hawaiian breakfast for a while now.

I wish that this was something that our family was able to do, but we don't because of the kind of hours that my husband works and also because of the fact that my daughter ends up spending more time on weekends at the homes of her friends than she does at home. That said, when I was a little girl, our family Sunday tradition was to go out to eat at a brunch buffet after church. I would love to do that with my family, but there aren't really any brunch buffets around here any more.

My step daughter and I on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights eat dinner in my bed and we just sit around and watch tv til 9 when she goes to bed but its only if she finished all her homework. It's because she lost her mother about two years ago and her dad works his second job on those nights so I make her feel really special. :)

That's so sweet. It sounds like you're really close. Its fun to do those little things when Dad's not around. : )
