One discussion I had a few months ago was about my happiness at being told i was cancer free. well, lately they have been calling me to say I should also have an MRI on my breast, just to make sure.because of my history. after being so happy from what they told me. then this. they even said it would be completely free. so, that really scared me if you can understand what i mean. My daughters have harassed me to go ahead. when sons new gf found out she said it worries her if i dont. so, shes offered to take me and be with me. ive gotten it set up for Tuesday, but im really scared. it takes about 45 minutes. ive had them yrs ago when i had the breast cancer before. i have claustriphobia.(cant spell it) fear of being in closed. and before when they gave me the shot for dye to look in, it made my back hurt really bad and ive been told by some it affects your kidneys. So, please pray for me to get through this easily. what do you say? thanks.

First make sure to remove ALL your jewelry.
Second, of course you will be in all our thoughts and prayers.
When the table starts to move inside the MRI machine close your eyes and imagine you are running through an open meadow in the sunshine chasing butterflys. Seriously. It will help with the claustrophobia, and breathe slow steady breaths. Panic is a terrible thing so keep telling yourself to stay calm and just catch that butterfly!
Let us know how it goes. We worry so you don't have to! lol

I am sending all the Postive energy I can muster your way. I have had this procedure done before and though I also suffer from clostrophobia I really didn't have a problem. They were playing music and it was easy to relax and take myself away to my favorite spot in my mind. It worked well and I didn't have any problems. I hope you are able to also.

bunnybon7,
It would be better to get it checked out now than to wait for the big C to rear its ugly head again. If there is nothing there then you can sigh in relief. But if it did come back and you didn't get it checked out, you would never forgive yourself. I wish I would have been a little more diligent when it came to my yearly followups. I couldn't afford a cat scan last year because I didn't have insurance but the clinic did do a CA-125 which apparently came up normal. I found out last month that I had a recurrence of ovarian cancer so now I wish I would have stayed on in a little more. I was under the impression that because I was stage 1 the first time around that I didn't have to worry about it. I see the gyn/onc tomorrow to discuss treatment options. Oh well...live and learn. Don't worry about it. It may not be comfortable to go through the procedure, but at least you will have the peace of mind that you are still cancer free or not. Good luck with that!

oh im so sorry Daeckardt. it is about the scariest thing to have this. it is always nice to have many, many caring people online and any where to help with encouragment and prayer and caring though. ive found that out last time around. So you can get ovarian even after they are out? oh my. i will pray for you also. the last time, i had 36 radiation treatments and every time i went , i cried. first time i cried cause i felt sorry for myself but i began to realize i was getting better. all times after i cried for others. as i saw some i didnt thing was getting better. you will be in my prayers now also.

Actually, in recurrences, it is in other organs. In my case (and in most cases from what I have heard), it is in the colon. When I was in China, I was told that I had colon cancer. I get back to the states and I am told it is a recurrence. I guess it is the type of cell that is growing rather than the location. I don't really understand it, but oh well...

Absolutely, bunnybon, I'll be praying for you. I also know how you feel about it. I've been in similar situations more than once and am facing another within a month or so. I didn't have any reactions from the dye and the claustrophobia was ameliorated with music (I requested classical). I think I even went to sleep durning the procedure. So God Bless You, dear. We will all be thinking of you and praying for you.

bunnybon you are immediately going on my ongoing prayers sweetie as this has to be very difficult for you to deal with. Please try as hard as you can to remain as positive and never loose hope. The power of prayer does wonders my friend. Ask your doctor for a sedative. Even a half of one would do wonders, I say this as I have worked in the MRI business for a long time.
Try and get a good night sleep the night before and talk to yourself the entire time, recalling happy thoughts the entire time from start to finish. If you begin to panic tell yourself this will end soon and before you know it will.
Do inform your technologist of your claustrophobia and they know how to set the mood tranquil so that you can remain as still and at peace as possible.
Some people do not realize the bad effect a claustrophobic person undergoes as they have no idea how frightening and loss of breath type feeling you undergo.
Best of luck and please know I will do my best to continue including you in my prayers.

It's really tough to be in that situation. But you were just asking what should be asked;- Prayer. He is all you need to overcome that situation. God sometimes allows us to be in such situation so he can measure the trust we put into Him. And if we would just lean on what can can do, His power will greatly be manifested especially in these hard times. May God bless you my fellow. You have my prayers with you.

Sweetheart, you're going to be FINE! You're going to come back and tell us 'what's all that worrying I did?' Try to think positive and you'll be ok. Bless your heart! I'm like you, claustrophobic as hell but if I have to be put in a tight space for medical reasons, I'll close my eyes and think of something pleasant so I won't panic. You ARE in my prayers, ok?! You are in my prayers but I have to believe that you're going to be just fine!! HUGS!!

Just remember it will be over quick, and I hope it turns out clear.
I am going to the dentist tomorrow to have teeth removed.. teeth that don't even hurt at the moment, but they need to be pulled. I'm not looking forward to it at all, but it needs to be done. I will be in pain for a few days afterwards. It's certainly making me nervous.. but I'm constantly reminding myself that the worst part will be over with quickly and in a month from now I'll be totally healed and will no longer have tooth problems.

Yes I'm not looking forward to it. I know I need it done, but I still don't really WANT it done. I'm getting every tooth pulled.. I'll have full upper and lower dentures.. and I'm only 30 years old.

My prayers go out to you and to all of my friends on mylot when I know that they have to undergo a medical procedure of any kind.
When it comes to MRIs, I know what you mean about them being terrible especially for people that are claustrophobic. I didn't even know that I had claustrophobia until I had an MRI on my back in 2005. It might well qualify as one of the worst experiences in my life.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that. Cancer runs on my side of the family real heavily. My mom had the kind of cancer you had too and got rid of it.I would say what kind but it won't let me say it says your entry contains content of a mature nature. Do you know how I can change it to where I can see and type things like that? It can come back, but she's been lucky so far. She had it maybe 20 years ago or longer and it hasn't returned. It is better to be safe then sorry because the quicker you know the higher chance you have of survival.
I don't blame you for being scared. It is a real scary situation. I will pray for you that nothing shows up.

Your gonna be fine. You did good, first you made the appt, second you came here and asked for prayer. I know your scared, but just remember how many people here are praying for you. Its really important that you have follow up appts to make sure the cancer stays gone. Its dangerous when they don't follow up. I expect to be hearing soon the good news that you are still cancer free. Take care, hugs and prayers coming your way.

thank you my friend. you know the first doctor the diagnosed me recommended a complete mastectomy. considering my family history. well, i went to another and he said just remove the area and radiation,. now i could kick myself for not just doing it. since now, id probably not have this worry returning. yes, you must keep on top of it all. only reason i survived it before was because they caught it really early.

Good morning, dear bunnybon. You can do it...you've stood tall & brave thru all your past serious health diversions, YOU WILL/DO have the support and prayers of your family..and extended family, "the myLot" community! Am truly glad that you have the support of your son's new GF, and she will be at your side. Please do tell technician's of your claustrophobia, and call your Dr., today and explain the bad pain as a result of your last MRI, as possibly there is med's to assist with this pain. YOU ARE one brave lady, and prayers are winging your way! I am sorry this is necessary...but you will experience relief when it is over. Take care!

You'll be in my prayers, most certainly! How nice of your son's gf to go with you!
Those MRI machines are a little spooky. They are so tiny! Although when I had one taken of my back I nearly fell asleep in there and would have if not for the tech asking if I was alright every few minutes.
