Does The Internet Make People Stupid???

Thats really strange. I used to know someone that was in prison and although they had computers there they didnt have internet. I thought that none of the prisons had internet.

Hello LadyMarissa, Whether in the internet or not , if one person is stupid then he/she is naturally stupid wherever he/she may be. The evidence just stay longer over the internet facility until the doer realizes the stupidity he/she committed and delete at once. Some are the result of carelessness due to the elated feelings that internet brought them and tend to forget the consequences after.

i think it should make people more intelligent, afterall the internet made information and communication exchanges really quick, fast and easy... if what the internet has done actually is to make people lazy... hehe :D

Gamma rays... eating their brains... Actually, they're probably stupid long before they get on the internet... it just gives them a wider showcase.

I don't know why people think they have any privacy on the internet. They assume only their friends will see their stuff but they don't realize once it's there it's never gone! I don't list any personal information on the net and there's not one photo of me. You'd be hard pressed even to find my real name anywhere. People have really gotten into trouble this way. They like to think the internet is personal and intimate but they don't realize how much damage it can do to them.

Internet doesn't make people stupid. Stupid people make the internet stupid and use it in bad work.Internet help us in our life in every purpose. Internet make the things very easy and long distance come short for this internet. But some stupid people use it in bad way. I don't know why people do this and why do this but one things i can tell that they are bad and not only internet they use all the good things as their weapon which is very bad.

I think many of the prisoners, especially hard core, don't give a care about the results of doing something of this nature. They know their lives are already in a turmoil so why worry! And then there is always the few who think they will never get caught. I am assuming this guy was able to sneak a cell phone into his cell in order to connect to the internet and post something on Facebook. Getting caught up in the moment is something to be desired with inmates. I don't know firsthand but do watch many of the prison programs on cable. Quite interesting!

i dont think the net makes people stupid per se, but it just gives them another venue to be stupid on.

I don't believe that any form of technology has the power to make us more or less intelligent. Only we have the power to do that to ourselves. the internet has nothing to do with how we use our minds. that choice is still up to us.

Good day to you LadyMarissa, As for me, internet has nothing to do with people who goes down to the level of their stupidity. Hence, internet facility do help people in reaching and achieving a fast way on how to deal with things. As it answers almost all of our queries. And for me, internet is not really the reason why people goes stupid, hence, people should look and observe a proper attitude in using the internet.

Sometimes the internet or the worldwide web does make you some what stupid. Especially in situations such as short cutting of words and such.

No, I think some people are stupid to begin with, and the Internet does not make them more or less stupid, it is just easier to tell the whole world that you are stupid if you are, LOL! But the Internet can actually also make you more clever, since it can educate you a lot as well. It all depends on how you use it!

In my opinion it is not the internet that makes them stupid because they are like this from mother nature and they will never change,but facebook and other social sites give them the opportunity to express their stupidity and show it to the entire world.I think they do it because they want to show how tough they are and they want to be admired by many people,and it's true that they may become famous,but not in the sense that they hoped for.If they had something in their brains,they would think about the consequences of their actions and they would avoid placing themselves in such ridiculous situations.

Most people use the internet without knowing how it works. After all, it gives u all the information without having to go through pages and pages of books (like in the old times!) They seem to think wht they do on the internet cannot be tracked.(How wrong they are!) Its not being stupid, its being ignorant! :D

People stupid not because of internet but due to behavioral aspect. As far as my opinion is concern. Internet may influence people doing some king of criminality or stupidity but due personal behavior. It is depend on the person using the internet. If they want to be a stupid or not. But this is not the reason of internet...

It doesn't necessarily make you stupid,but it sure makes you addicted to the computer and if you do on the computer something that is the same like a game or see images or just go through sites to see the evening news,it might stop your brain from thinking logically, and it might make you a little dumber.

It may be and may not be and all up to our way of thinking and seeing towards it.

the problem is that they see that others do it, too (or have done it) and then they think that nothing can happen to them or they don't even think at all. Another prob is that authorities don't deal with most illegal stuff on the net for a very long time and so everything builds up and everyone feels secure. It even goes as far as people saying that authorities don't care or even accept what's happening. This may go on for years and never something happens. I know cases where authorities were aware right from the beginning but they never said something or reacted in any way. Finally some authority decided to ''do something'' and many people - who didn't even want to get involved in the beginning - suffered from that. You don't only have that issue on the Inet. Take TV for example. You'll find numerous scenes that are definitely against the law (personal rights are violated, brutal scenes are shown that are officially not allowed on TV etc...). So authorities definitely contribute strongly to the increase of crime by NOT acting, i.e. by not stopping things BEFORE they develop. But who castigates the castigator?

not at all i think internet gives us many benefit.. knowledge,friend,news and even money like us doing in this myLot right? so all of your reason just a little bit bad effect from it and i think it doesn't matter
