hi moondancer Nope I have no relatives in Pennsylvanis but I feel
terrible for all those poor people and hope those that were
spared soon recover Gas is such tricky stuff and with the modern
'tendency in the US to cram houses so close together this makes
disasters even worse.I will send prayers for those who lived
through this inferno to heal quickly

It is such a sad thing. This is one of the reasons I believe no homes should be so close together. If a fire breaks out more than one home is involved.
Yes, they do need prayers. Thank you...

Why feel sorry for feeling a need to say something? I don't know anyone in Allentown but I certainly hope of the people in the fire are alright. I am always at a loss when it comes to fires in Winter. Everyone is boxed up and ready for the blaze. Ugh! So unfair and makes me wonder if there is a electrical short or something that went wrong that caused it or what.

I don't know. I stress so much over news like this even though I personally don't know anyone there. I know I worry too much about everything and everyone, but I just can not help it.
I do feel so much for these people and their families.. They will have to go through so much.
I was sorry for having to ask a question as it is what we must do here. I wanted to let anyone know that had someone there or that lives there know How I felt but I did not wish to have to ask a question.
I am sorry though for what they are dealing with.

They said it was natural gas pipe line that were still in place from the 1920's that were the cause. There was a defect in a line. I hate for things like this to happen.
Those lines should have been inspected and been fixed a long time ago.
My husband inspects gas pipe lines so I do know a bit about how that works.

I use to live in Pennsylvania, northwest of Allentown. That is terrible for that to happen, but the way the houses are built (were built) they are so close together that it doesn't surprise me to hear this. If you are not familiar, a lot of the towns in Pennsylvania were mining towns and there is only a single wide sidewalk between most, and sometimes not even that. So when a large house fire or like this, gas explosion happens it is going to end up involving other structures. And most are wood frame houses. Like you I hope everyone is okay, sad to hear.

It is like that in some of the places I have lived. I'm so glad you no longer live there!
I do hope the ones that are hurt will be okay and the ones that lost their homes will get new ones. They are lucky that's all they lost.
