I had my second appointment with the wound specialist. He was very happy with how my leg looks now as compared to a week ago. I asked him what that mess was and he just smiled."skin irritation" okay. He says it really is improving and I am to keep putting this lotrmine cream on it twice a day and come back in a month. I am also wearing what they call compression stockings on my legs and the swelling is almost gone.He wants me to get the heavier stockings to take the rest of the swelling out. But I feel happier than I have in a long time as the rash is actually far less red and some patches are gone. So I did my feeble attempt at the happy dance. Just wanted to share this as its had me worried for so long. I guess I did go to the right place so how are you all, anyone else having some things that cause you to do the happy dance?

Hello Hatley, I'm glad the skin rush has finaly reduced. I imagine how happy you must be. I wouldn't wonder why the doctor said "skin irritation" and smiled. I think they know so little about skin diseases! My aunt is an allergologist doctor and she told me that most of the allergies don't have a well known reason and that's because they are even more difficult to be treated. I remember when I was a teenager I helped my mother to prepare some zacusca (a stew that we can for winter) and the peppers I chopped for it were so hot that my hands burned after the whole operation. I went to see the dermatologist and he gave me a cream and said I will get rid of those burns in a week or so. I came back home crying as I couldn't bear the burns any more. Luckily my mother find out the remedy from a colleague of her. I kept my hands submersed in vinegar for half an hour and then everything was back to normal. That was a good reason to do the happy dance!

hi inu1711 Yes it feels better and now at last I have some hope. oh that must have been so painful as burns on your hands would have all those nerves to make you really hurt.I have heard that vinegar could do wonders.Yes indeed that would be a great reason to do the happy dance for su e.

\O/ \O/ \O/ I am doing the happy dance with you!!!! I am thrilled to hear that you finally found some help for your leg. He says it was a skin irritation, but he couldn't tell you why or how to prevent it from happening again? Personally I'd ask, even though he probably doesn't know how, but may give suggestions to prevent it..:)

Those hose just might be the answer to preventing this from happening again.. Also, don't get so caught up here, get up and move around, it's good for you.

hi carm yes I think the hose is a big part of it and getting up for a few minutes to keep the blood ciruclation.,I have been gone folr 20 days in a rehab hospital so am now home had my first shower and managed okay as the pain med. kicked in and my knee stood uo under it.I had a really bad f all the day after Valentiens, broke my nose, blacked my eyes but worst of all twisted my knee. in the rehab place I had a lot of physical therapy but I think because I did not walk as much on my bad leg there as I have to here I do have some pretty intese pain. but today I got a pain pill at each meal but am saving the dinner one for bedtime as the last two nights thats when it really hurt. I a m really glad to get back here anyway and be on the net again an mylot. trying to catch up now.

hi carm lost the start of my response grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I was thinking the same thing so have that question to ask him in March when I see him again. As I sure do not want to go throudh that again and for now it looks like its beginning to fade. I feel from all the emphasis on getting the swelling down in my legs that the rash might have been brought on from poor circulation. my primary care doctor said my heart and kidneys were fine so the swelling is from my sitting to long here typing so now I am wearing what they call compression stockings and what we used to call support hose. lol

I am thrilled you a feeling better and your wound is improving. I am doing the happy dance today as I see an improvement in my Schatzie's eye ulcer. Yahoo!! to us both. It is wonderful to be dancing with happiness when I spent most of last Monday crying with worry for my little one. I know your feeling of relief must be enormous. Just keep following the doctor's orders and you will be 'right as rain' in no time.

hi whitefeather I have been losing reaponses this morning ugh grrrrrrrrr. Yes I feel so great as its now changing color to a pale pink and one patch is gone. I am so glad your little Schatzie's eye is better. Poor little thing, they cannot really tell us and something you wish they could say mom my eye really hurts. So I am going to do just what they told me even to getting the heavier compression stockings. lol.

I broke my nose, blacked both eyes'but what sent me to the rehab was mytwisted right knee.it hurt so bad I could not walk on it. still I was lucky as I hac no other broken bones just the poor old right leg where the rash is slowly fading away. I just got back here this past Friday so maybe I expected too much but was surprised at how much pain I got just walking.so again I will do a mental happy dance. now I am aged they have me in a walker lol. but it does make me feel less like I cou ld fall again.

Hi, Hatle..got an idea - as you are supposed to elevate your legs, why not do some air dancing - move your feet and the blood circulation will work even better.. A friend told it is good to drink water before elevating the legs, as the water will help to flush away whatever leaves the legs and help the kidneys that way.. I´ll do some Happy Dancing for you, my friend..

Hi again Hatley (hopefully this time I spelled your name right!!) Today we had a wonderful sunshine. The snow is so shining white and everything was bathing in light. Aww sweety, I'm so sorry all this has happened to you. Was it awful in rehab? I'm glad you were being looked after properly at least. I'm terrified of falling and I have Dad here at the moment and he gets quite doddery too. Please be extra careful and take extra care when you need to...no running around the block or having races to the dining room now!

hi mstickle ow wow what has gone on since I wrote this. I had a bad fall day after Valentines day, broke my nose, blacked both eyes and worst of all twisted my knee but no other major broken bones. b ut my knee hurt so badly I could not walk on it. thus was in rehab hospital for 29 days just got back this past Friday. so M still in much pain but the pain pill she gave me at noon is working now. mylotting helps keep my mind off it too. I guess its just telling me to stay off it for awhile til its really healed.so my rash is almost gone but I have to reschedule the wound doctor visit as I am still in a lot of pain. however I am so glad I did not break a hip.

hi mstickle they were really pretty good to me at Carehouse save for a few who would ignore the light.those i hope one day are patients and have to wait to go to the loo until their bladders want to burst. I really feel all people who wait on the ill should have had to spent a least a few days as a patient to see what it feels like to be depend on strangers. I have a physical therapist coming sometime this afternoon to have me do some exercieses to strengthen my knee and my sense of balance too.

Oh that is good news Hatley. I'm so happy for you. It is so frustrating and worrisome to have something wrong like that and not know what it is. My husband has a rash and he is not so sure what it is either even though the doctor has to him what he thinks it is. When he comes home this time I'm going to have him go back and have them send him to a skin doctor because this has went on for way too long. It does not help though that he won't stop taking scolding hot showers and baths. I mean it, his water is so hot I can not even get in it. He will run my water from time to time and it's so hot I can not step foot in it. I ash dishes with nothing but hot water but I can not put my body in a tub of hot water but he does. That is not helping this rash. I hope yours goes completely away and the swelling goes away. Take care and have a good weekend.

That is great, I'm glad that what the doctor prescribed is helping. Sounds like you're on the road to recovery. Just remember, you don't have to be a good dancer to do the happy dance, just happy! For some reason, I'm thinking about the "dance of joy" on Perfect Strangers, did you ever watch that show?

12 Feb 11
You can probably find clips of it on youtube. I'm not a knowledgable enough mylotter to know whether posting links to something like that is allowed, or figure out how to do it, but if it is, I'd be glad to look for a clip of the dance of joy if you want me to!

hi rapunzelbcat I am back home after a 20 day stay in a rehab hospital 'for a twisted right knee due to a fight I had with the floor .of course the floor won. I have a broken nose, two black eyes and the worst is the twisted knee, I have decided this week I willnot try to do any extra walking as I am still in much pain . but its getting much better . when it first happened I could not walk at all on that right leg.

hi greenmoo I thought you have been here before. I still do not know what it is or why I had it but my leg swelled and broke out in these hard bumps that flaked off. If I scratched it then it would bleed.Started way last summer and at first I broke out in hives. so was put on steroids but lost the hives but had little patch of the stuff left and it soon spread. So now at last I see a break through. so am really happy.

I used to be on myLot allot more than I manage now, so I'm sure you'll recognise my name. But I missed this tale! It sounds absolutely terrible, and most upsetting not to know what caused it. The human body is a peculiar thing. However, I'm terribly glad for you that it seems to be healing and truly hope it continues to improve quickly.

Ireland , that s a place I would love to go and to Derry and see if I can find out more about Andweiler Clark the father of my great great grandfather Clark who migrated with his wife to Kentucky in the late 1790's to raise 7 children one of whom was James Clark my great grandfather. This clark side of my family is my dad's side.I have never been to Ireland but have seen programs on Ireland which I really enjoyed.

Its Thursday, tomorrow is Friday... like Friday... No, really, that's GREAT news! I'm glad your getting your wound down and the swelling as well. couldn't get Maggie to wear the stockings, of course, I had to put them ON, so that was no great thrill... "It hurts" whine.... I had a very brief problem with my feet swelling, so I got socks that had "arch support" and gave me a cheap kind of compression, and I haven't had any problems since, of course, I also sit at my desk less, had to get one of those "job" things...

hi ElicBxn oh arent those the bear to get on your legs. for a moment last night I did not think I was going to get the left one off but I have started learning a few techniques that make it easier. I have no idea how hard the heavier ones will be to put on but wow my legs look like a young womans again and they were so swollen. my pcare doctor said my heart and kidneys are fine so its all the sitting I do typing for hours here. I am supposed to elevate my legs a few times a day too.I was not too thrilled with the idea of the stocking but really they make my legs actually feel better.

hi cats and dogs just got back from 20 days in rehab hospital on account of a bad fall day after Valentines day. broke my nose, and blacked my eyes but no other broken bones. but I twisted my right knee so bad I could not bear to put my weight on it hence the rehab hospital. I amghone and using a walker and hurting. but I am still so grateful I did nobreak a leg or hip. I am due for an appt with the wound specialist but judging how I feel right now I am going to have to reschedule that for next week. I have a lot of pain y et so feel I should stay off that leg whenever ui can. the rash however is almost gone. lol.
