I was wondering if anyone has had a flu shot this year I didn't get on in fact I have never had one I am aware of the controversy behind them and some people in my town were leary about getting them because of all the rumors going around about them not being safe.
I don't get sick I haven't had the flu in many years interested in knowing who has had a flu shot and did it do you any good?

Never had a flu shot or had flu either. I can't remember the last time that I had a cold either - more than 3 years ago for sure.

I had flu shots the last two years. I think it is good to have flu shots, makes one protected from catching flu. The winter times have been very severe the last years, very easy to catch cold and become sick. Having taken flu shots, I feel safe.

Hi Green
I don't catch cold easily at all in fact its been many years since I've had a cold ,flu, sore throat, fever etc.. I just keep taking my daily vitamins, and minerals,I eat a lot of garlic too not just for the antibiotic characteristics of it but because I happen to like it a lot

I have to have a flu shot every year as i am prone to infections, as well as for other health reasons, also so do my sons.I think that even if people do not get ill they should still have them, as not everyone can fight swine flu and sometimes i think a preventative is better than trying to get a cure.

HI JUGS JUGS
I'm not prone to infections but I can understand why someone such as yourself would get the flu shot each year better to prevent it if you can than dealing with the symptoms

For most people I think flu shots are great!! There has been a nasty flu going around our office this year...every one who got the flu shot has been healthy and not sick but those who didn't have had a horrible flu for 2 weeks or longer!
Please don't be afraid of them because of some rumors, the facts are that for the vast majority of people they are safe, effective and have very few side effects. Do your own research and talk to your doctor first. I am SO glad I got my flu shot this year! :)

Personally from someone who is Diabetic, I have never had one, and never even had my Doctor recommend me getting one even. Since I am allergic to so many things it seems I guess they have never deemed it something of concern. I do know others who have gotten one this yr. and known 2 who got really sick from something not too long after they got one. So to me that is a warning maybe it is not always the Best.

Hiya cherry,
Flu Shots I suppose must be very important to some People with very bad Chest Problems and there is quite a lot of that going around.
Especially for the People that have been Miners or have worked in the Iron or Steel Industry too.
At the moment I don´t need them either. If I start getting the sniffs I quickly remedy it if I can and stop it in it´s tracks if I can as well.
Lots of warm liquid and all the fruit you can down and light meals helps that dreaded yucky feeling at bay.
They however never benefited my Mother for example and they never knew why either she had more colds with the Flu Shot than without it.

On my first year at work, there was a free flu shot for all employees, so I queued and got the shot. Some of my co-workers got the side-effects immediately like they got sick immediately afterwards. Not in my case. I did not feel anything at first so I thought I was good. But, as the year progressed, I felt the my immune system had gotten weaker, because I got sick a lot! Maybe the shot did not work well for me. So, on the second year, I did not avail of the free shot. So, it all boils down to - it depends on your body. But, be sure you're not allergic to eggs. It's the one thing I remember that the medics who administered the shots asked us. Better yet, if you're really not sure. Ask your family doctor who knows your medical history.
