Had another appointment at the hospital and they checked height, weight, bp.I expected to put on some weight, but not a whole stone. The dr has now had to up the pills that i have been taking, as alot of the pills are also based on weight. The dr said my weight is ok, especially after having 6 children and also knowing that i can not shift my weight, due to not being hardly active. My spine now has psoratic arthritis in it,that has got worse, but i think the pain is due to the weight my back has to support. If i was to weigh less then i would hurt less, but the dr did not agree.I was never this heavy being pregnant.

Arthritis is hard to handle. The pain and discomfort is caused by the weight but by enflamation and such. My daughter and grandson take about four or five pills aday. Not fun. Sounds like you are getting better though. That is a good thing. Keep that up. And with 6 kids I would watch the mental stature as well. Hehe

With everything making you gain, it is a wonder you have not put on more. I imagine the doctor says your weight is okay because he does not want you to do anything foolish to try to take it off. It is only reasonable to believe that weighing less would make your back feel better, and other than choosing good foods, I know there is not much you can do. I would just encourage you to do your best and hope that some of these ailments can go into remission.

I am now taking 10 pills in the morning for all health problems, as well as i am having to inject once a fortnight.I have psoratic arthritis in my toes as well as my back.I am now going to be on another 500 mg of anti inflamitry tablets as well, all these pills i think are making me put the weight on and that is why i think i am feeling more pain in my back when sitting, standing as well as laying down.

I would be very surprised if none of your meds are not increasing your appetite. I hope all those meds are doing you some good. I have found it next to impossible to lose weight. You can only do the best you can do. Get your ailments into remission as GG says and then worry about the weight. Don't sweat the small stuff!

You are right and the doctor is wrong. I weighted a lot more than I do now and my back hurt more than it does now. So did my ankles, knees, hips, feet, and more....
They think they know everything...they don't.
If they have had the same problem then they might know, but everyone is different.
Even ones that have the same problems the body handles then differently.

I know it hurts but try doing some exercise, not the ones most everyone else does. But look for the ones people can do that have arthritis, they have some we can do. You do then sitting in the chair and such. I do them all the time, even while in bed.
I eat right, as much as I can. I eat as much fruit an veggies as I can and I try not to eat too much at one meal as I have to.. eat slow so the food has time to get to your stomach
So the brain and the stomach has time to know it has had some food. Then you won't over eat. You will see a difference. I did.

I am not an expert but I tend to disagree with your doctor because I know that extra weight does put extra stress on joints therefore increasing existing pain. I would be inclined to ask my GP for a referral to a dietician who could help with an eating plan suitable for you and your inability to do much exercise so you can shed a few pounds which will result in you feeling a lot better...Good luck...Healing to you...

Hopefully, you'll be able to lose some of what you gained. I know when I gain weight, everything, knees, ankles, back, etc., seem to hurt more. Maybe, next time, just tell your doctor you'd like to lose some weight and to advise you on a proper diet with all your ailments. Hope you feel better.

I have to watch what i eat at the moment as an injection that i am having to have once a fortnight has problems with certain foods, also with high bp i have had to cut down on alot of things as well as high chlorestrol.I think that the pills that i am having to take are making me put on the weight as well.

Hi jugsjugs, it has been a while since I have seen you around. Sorry to read this and I believe you are right as the weight can attribute to further pain and ailments.
Since the arthritis is present in your body the loosing weight can help but will not remove the problem in total, so I do hope that you are on some pain medication that helps the symptoms, as I know my boyfriends mom has really bad arthritis in her hips and she has lost a great deal of weight but the pain is still severe.
I wish you well and hope you get better.

I do think that the weight that i have put on has made things worse, as well as the cold has not helped my back one bit.The thing the dr was saying was that as there are alot of pills that i have got to have, they are also what make you put the weight on as well.I am stuck in the fact that i can not do anything to try to keep the weight gain down, other than try to diet or chose food wisely.

What happened to u that u gained a whole stone of weight? Maybe u have to watch your diet especially in your situation as u can't move around freely and don't get to work out much either. THe kind of medicine u are taking might have some side effects on your weight as well, so maybe u can tell your doctor about it? Doctors might not always be right as they don't know what u are going through.

Judging on what I understand a stone to be compared to pounds, that is about what I have gained between Christmas and now. I hope it is on the way down. It is good that the doctor is keeping up with your weight so that your medicine can be adjusted correctly for your weight.

Weight definitely is an issue here. Our body weight is entirely supported by our lower body as well as our lower back. Thus if there are any changes to our weight, those are the very first areas to feel the strain and difference. Though dr might not agree with u, but u should know it, as u are the one knowing the pain and not them

Funny that a doctor would tell you that. I would like to hear his reasoning behind that conclusion. Must a lot to to explain as it is common knowledge that excess weight does cause pain in the joints and added strain on the back.
Personally I would have tried to lose some of the weight. No matter what the doc says less weight is best as long as its done moderately. You will feel so much better anyways and mobility will be better as well.

I wonder if the weight gain that you've gone through could be one of the side effects of the medication that you are currently on. I know that there are some medications that I've been on during the course of my life that will cause me to gain weight. However, I've been losing weight recently and that is something that I am very happy about. I've been heavy for the majority of my life and that is something that I really don't want to deal with anymore.

Its so nice to see you again jugsjugs..I hope youll get fine soon.my husband do have arthritis too on his neck part and was wrongly diagnosed at first. Only after almost two years of suffering we knew his real condition. I can see how you suffer more because your arthritis is on your back part which carries the weight of your whole body compared to my husband's case which is only on his neck part tho I see how uncomfortable he is when under attack. Doctors are just human tend to make mistakes too so us patients who directly feels whats wrong with our body could still do something to ease what we unfavorably feels. If you think to lose weight is the key to lessen your pain then why not. Or you better get a second opinion .Thats what I always do if Im not satisfied with what the doctors said. Besides its our body we are dealing and our money which we pay for them, so we deserved a better treatment.

I imagine the pills are making you gain weight. If that is the case there is not much you can do. Maybe you could try another kind of pill. If your doctor thinks your weight is allright though, he probably wouldn't prescribe anything else. I hope the pills are working and they are worth it a little bit. I agree that the added weight is proably making your symptoms worse. It just makes sense. Some doctors don't make sense.
