Memories of School

We all must have a favorite teacher or even two. I had a English teacher named Mrs. Donnelly in Junior High. She was ancient and had arthritis so bad in her hands that her fingers were twisted and mishaped. She helped me to understand the basics of sentence structure and awakened in me such a love of words and the English language. Then there was Mr. Hanauer my Civics teacher. He was very tall and we had more fun in his class. My girlfriend, Betty, and I would stop off at the candy machine on the way to his class. She always had a way of getting her package open right away and I would wait until I got to my seat. Sure enough I would get caught. She never did. And when she and I were both pregnant with our first children we decided one day to go back and visit Mr.Hanauer. I remember his face when we showed up. "You two always did have a way of getting into mischief together didn't you?" And we all three laughed. Do you recall a favorite teacher?

I really liked my art class teacher. He was very down to earth and a really cool guy. He explained things very well also. The other teachers I liked were in college. There were a lot of wise women as my professors.

I think that is one thing that a good teacher can do for us is to open doors and, like with you, give you the wonderlust and such. That is a good teacher! I got to see some great places with my ex hubby too. We did some fun stuff together.

hi CelticEagle oh yes her name was Miss Schulet and she was my fifth grade teacher. She would sit down ontop of her desk and exp;ain to us we are now going to study trees and agriculture,So we are goinbg to go on a walk. okay? Kids? it was always okay with us and we each took a leaf from each different tree and we learned its name and its genus. she always made each subject so much fun,She was laid back and completely unorthodox and we loved her. we had always the best grades of any class in primary school and the admins could not u nderstand it as they thought she was awful because she was not boring and did not sit down on a chair all decorus and drone on and on about something. she made us be interested in all she taught us , writing, english ,science name she made us learn. Also she realized I was working two grade levels above so I was skipped two grades.I wish all teachers could love to teach like she did as it was fantastic. I had one proffessor who was like that in college and after he had e x plained a bit about this period of literature he would make each one of us say what we thought of that style of writing. He had expounded on this one writer whom I felt was the driest of dry writing even the story abvout the odd woman who lay next to the skelton of her long deceased huband. I maen another writed could have taken that and made it a fascinating story but he lumbered along droning on paper until you were sick of the chapter. I alwyas wanted him to leave off all the long drawn out descrfipint of every minute detail and actually write lively chapters. so I told myh feelings and all the class looked aghast as this was one of the well thhought of authors. after he listened to me he smiled and looked ate the class."Well Nrs. Hatley has nailed this man down with this story. I actually agree wi th her, he did go on to write much better b ut this was one of h is first pieces and I always felt it was " He paused,"Just awful" now we were talking about Faulkner whom so many admired him.I think it was called A Rose for Emily. Its been awhile as I was in my fifties and graduated with a B A in English at 56. Now I am 85 next November. lol

Yes, William Faulkner's A Rose For Emily was abit odd. In that era I think alot of the writing was rather dry. But I think it is important in teaching to bring alot of different options to the table and open the door for kids to see the world and what is out there. I think to take a writer like Faulkner and strip away alot of his description and all helps a writer see the dynamics of writing. I have never had any college or real literature teachings. I am self taught. I am 60 next November.

One is mr.daud he was a teacher of Social and he always helped to study and make a study note.He was the most relented teacher ever i saw i my life. Some time he took our biology class also. Wow fantastic. If any student concentrate in his class then don't need to study the topic again. Now i stay far away from my country and every year i go back my home for one time when ever i go back my home i went to my school to meet with that teachers. So i do recall my favorite teacher.

I didn't like school. I was EXTREMLY shy. I had friends and even in the cheer squad but not a cheer leader. I had a few friends from school but slowly they moved away and I lost track of them. I guess you could say my BFF is from school. But she was the older sister of a friend I made in school. I have some good memories from school. Clear back to when I was in Kindergarten.

Oh those days !!!! so carefree and full of life! Now sitting the half or a little less of the house I recollect those days and in my pensive mood they sooth me as I journey back to those days. I did not have so many favorite teachers but one was there who like you taught me English and all structures of the language. I feel if he were not there I would not be an English professor today. He was my role model and I still have the same respect and adoration towards him.

Yes, those day were very nnocent and serene weren't they? One is enough. I think we need a roll model in our lives and sometimes a teacher just fits the bill.

Memories in the school that can never be forgotten. I have lots of favorite teacher and that is why I ended up being a teacher as well. I choose this profession because I was influenced by so many teachers that I like and love both at the same time. I could not mention all of them but they knew that they are the reason why I am following their steps. So kudos to all teachers out there for molding my future into a better one.

easy....my 4th grade math teacher Mrs. Ynot, well I generally hated math and skipped math classes all the time before I met her...she made me understand the basic math computation, you know how it was like before 1+1=2...but they never explain what those numbers represent, I just thought I was plain number dumb, I can compute money but can't associate it with the numbers!!! I hated it when I always see 0/10 or in some rare cases 5/10, I don't even know why they let me pass!!! I was really like oooh, this is easy, she took time to let me understand and for that I wanted to become a teacher...my inspiration!!!I still get to see her often since she serves in Church where my mother also serves...

I think everyone learns in a different way. If you can hit on someone that can teach you the way you can learn then you hit pay dirt. Until then you skip class. You must have seen some part of it all or they wouldn't have passed you. It is nice that you get to see her still too.

I remember my 9th grade teachers Mr. Murthy and Ms. Jyothi. Both of them played a very important role in my life and are still playing the same vital roles they played then. When we were in 9th itself, they started teaching us what life is and how good things are around you and how things can go worse around you! Each and everything was thought to us! I still remember every word they told us. Every situation in our day to day life reminds me something or the other that the two of them told me! I'm so glad that I met these two people in my life. The best people I met in my life are these two people! They are my role models till now and will always remain the same. Even if I feel lonely sometimes, I always have their words with me! The one sentence that I always remember that they said is, "LIFE IS NOT EASY!" This is something that people always remind you! Cheers! Thanks for sharing!
