Cheaters at school

Some students are usually tempted to cheat when faced with a must-pass exam when they haven't prepared well for it. Or others just cheat because they're just lazy to study. If you see someone cheating, would you inform your teacher or would you pretend that you didn't see it happen?

Unless there were some sort of extreme circumstances I would not tell the teacher. My hands are full keeping myself honest! It would only make trouble. They will eventually be caught and it will catch up with them down the road. It may cost them a job or their reputation.

Though I really feel bad about it, I usually don't tell the proctor that someone is cheating. First, I don't want to gain enemies. Secondly, I think informing the teacher about it during the exam itself will make me pass --- I will be wasting a minute or two of my time answering the questions. I just pray for their poor souls and let karma get them. :)

I saw an article about cheating. It is in www.socyberty.com/how-do-students-cheat-on-their-exams.
Oh yes, it is frustrating. In my high school, I had a classmate who became a valedictorian out of cheating and copying from 1st to 4th year. Good thing is, she is now in the wanted list for large-scale estafa / illegal recruitment. She victimized our very own batchmates whom she claimed "friends". That is karma.

Ooppsss...sorry. the link is www.socyberty.com/education/how-do-students-cheat-on-their-exams.
The article got a set of ways how to cheat on the exams and another set on how to avoid it.

It depends on my mood. If I were feeling mischievous that day, I would do something to direct the teacher's attention towards the cheater bug, e.g. throw an eraser at that fellow while the teacher isn't looking, then he'll get a surprise. If his reaction is too big it might even cause a commotion (like upsetting his own desk...just joking hee hee). Then the teacher might just ask him what he's doing.

Even if he doesn't alarm the teacher, at least it'll be a wake up call for him to be honest and behave himself, because he might then realise that someone else has noticed him and could tip him off anytime.

Well when i was in school or college then i never saw anyone who is cheating from the books or something. They asked each others and sometime i also did but for this i never inform to any teacher. But now i am a medical student and i saw to cheat so many foreigners i couldn't inform the teachers in the exam hall but latter i told my teacher that some student did cheat in the exam so please from the next exam be careful.I informed the teacher as i want that student must be serious and one medical student should study never should do cheat. So now a days i would like to inform the teacher about the cheaters not to hide the matter. It's good for the student!

I am quite guilty f this- the not informing teacher about someone cheating..It's because there are many of them, and in college, it seemed like a normal thing- which is bad since I came from the 'best section' in my school before and we don't cheat when it comes to major exams. my classmates from the different curses and I were quite shocked when we saw this situation. But the cheaters are really many...

Cheating at school usually comes from the lack of effort we put into our studies. we are more than capable of learning the materials we need to succeed in class. Cheating is not the shortcut we sometimes think we have come across. we don't learn anything from cheating except that we are cheating ourselves.

Whoever breaks the rules suffers. Pupils in my school were warned of possible consequences and sanctions as regards cheating being a major offense of the school policy which tantamount to suspension and once repeated, worst is expulsion. There are actually no cheaters in school just lazy ones as there are no dumb pupils rather lazy ones (too) only. Whatever reasons they have such as failure to review the day before, misplaced memo notebook, wasnt able to copy the reminded on the board, and the like, they all fall under sin of omission and/or sin of commission. A pupil who caught a classmate cheating and ignored it committed the sin of omission while the pupil who cheated committed the sin of commission, therefore, whoever catches someone cheating in class regardless of whether a boy, a girl, a friend, an enemy, he/she must inform the teacher to avoid any similar incident in the future. After all, it would really be unfair and inhumane for those who studied harder and reviewed for the exam just so to receive a passing mark.

That's an interesting policy - penalizing a person who failed to report an incident of cheating. But for me, I don't think it would work. It would only make the student keep silent about a cheating incident he witnessed. I'd much prefer rewarding the student when he reports the incident. A reward system usually works better than a punishment system.

If it would cause others to be in trouble then I would tell the teacher;if not then I wouldn't say anything. After all it is the teachers job to make sure there is not cheating and the students responsibility to learn and do well.

It's hard to decide if I need to tell my teacher when I see someone cheating. It depends on the condition, if my teacher doesn't see me and I see my friends cheating one another, what should I do? Why don't I cheat either? Especially when I am not well-prepared.
However, if I am very well-prepared and able to accomplish my exams, but I see my friends cheating, I will pretend I don't see them because I don't want to have problems with my friends.
Does it make sense? Happy Valentine's Day....
