Just got an e-mail today from Cary's special education teacher. He is always nice to the other students and teachers, and so he is getting to have a special lunch in his honor with the principal and other students for being the embodiment of their core value "kindness and compassion". Hooray Cary. Happy mom....

Congratulations to Cary!!! I bet he feels proud. I suppose this is a regular practice for the students? I can see how it would encourage all of them to kind and caring towards everyone. Good idea, actually.

Ahhh, that is nice to hear. I bet he is a happy fellow. My grandson always gets alittle embarrased at the extra attention but I think he likes it too. My grandson has been doing alot better this year and he even got an award at the last assembly. Makes a parent proud huh? I am happy for you. Nice when things go well and everything is harmoneous isn't it?

Congratulations! Hooray for Cary, but for you too! Who raised him to be kind and compassionate? The proud mum! But the school seems good too. I don't remember similar things when my daughter was in school.

It is always very nice when our children are recognized for the good things that they do at school. Kathryn's school has a program that is called KNIGHT awards for their school mascot. The children are recognized for all kinds of things and one child from each grade is drawn on a daily basis to get to sit in a special area in the cafeteria for lunch. I am always so proud of Kathryn when she comes home with a KNIGHT award.

That is really great! Congratulations Cary. Teachers have to deal with a lot of students each day. It is great that he notices Cary's 'kindness and compassion' not only to him/her, but also to the other students. Yey!

My school does this at the end of every quarter with students who have not lost any points, and who have gone above and beyond. I think with how much time is spent on the negative behaviors, it is great to honor and point out the good behaviors.

It is also very meaningful to Cary that you know how much he tries. He is having some successes and that is what every child needs.

His school does this for academic stuff, but I'm glad they're doing it for other things too. Cary has autism, so he's behind on the academics, but he always tries very hard.
