Yes I do because that's what God has promised us. But you have to give like you mean it and not because you just want to be blessed back. It's sort of like the proper stewardship of God's blessings for us. If we give because we just want to, especially if it is to further God's work on Earth, then God is faithful to keep His promise to bless us even more.

Ok please forgive me I do not like to insult any one here...but if God said not to invest on earthly things! why do we have to contribute to the church? when the church already own a state of their own in Rome? and there are many countries in this world dying in poverty?...I would sooner work with these people than giving my hard earn money to the church! and I Am sure god would be proud of me.

Yes I do, in fact even though I don't have a regular job, occasionally I dog sit and sometimes I only get 5.00. Yet I will calculate the 10 percent or more into my tithe fund and I have my 8-year old do this as well with his allowance. Though we can only give out a good amount (5-10)a few times a year, I make sure it does go somewhere. This brings about a point too, since I don't have a church, my tithes go to ministries where I believe in their work and we have the same faith. I could easily send it with my husband to his church, but I don't believe in what they believe so I don't.

Oh I forgot to mention, since both my son and I tithe like this, we both have been blessed with our needs, whether from an unexpected job or finding a deal, we are blessed..:)

Glad to hear your story carmelanirel. I actually regret not doing this practice now. When I am younger, my mom always tells us to give to the church, save the 10% of your income and give it to the ministry/church. I should start to do this again, because I believe that this is our obligation to God.

It is a command actually, but it doesn't necessarily have to go to a church if you don't have one. Like I said, there are many ministries doing things that I support whenever I can, because I know what they are doing is G♥d's work..

I believe that everything you do comes back to you, good or bad. One of the blessings of giving is how it makes you feel; it makes you feel useful, it makes you aware that you have so much that you can afford to give and so you feel grateful to God for all that you have. I do believe that those that give are blessed whether it's time, money or material goods to those that truly need it.

I do believe that when we are givers He sends it back to us. The law of "sewing and reaping" even works for those who aren't believers! But how do you give money to the Lord? He doesn't live at the church... and what would He do with it anyway? He uses gold for pavement! lol!

This is very true. Actually Colossians tells us to do everything we do as if we were doing it for Him...

I have nothing against any religion, so forgive me if I offend you.
I have a theory, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. He said "Service to man is service to God"
Now my theory is that if we help others, the happiness on their faces makes us happy. If we are happy we perform better. If we perform better, we earn more.
If the money we give to any religious charity or institution is really used to uplift, then we will get back more. That is correct. If we get personal about this help we get the most.

I also agree with you that it is not only through money giving God will reward us. We could also give our time and energy so that we coulf reach others and help to the growth of the church.

No problem webearn, you did not offend me at all. Thanks for sharing. I agree that whatever you do in service to God, it will reap blessings.
Yes, atprudente6, I believe too that if you are not rich in terms of money, you can help through other ways. Service to God is not focused on monetary terms alone.

no doubt. yes, based from experience. still, obedience is better than sacrifice, and best if we can do both without hesitations.

Oh yes I do! let me share a story with you.
In 1998 I was working a 8 to 5 job that was hardly paying the rent much less putting food on the table for my daughter and I. I remember one day I only had $10.00 and I was wondering how ot make it last for the day and get snacks for my daughter to take to day care the next day. Well, as I was heading to the market to buy some groceries, a beggar stopped me to ask if I could buy him a bottle of water.
That was all he asked for a bottle of water to quench his thirst, that $10.00 burned a hole in my pocket and I was so torn between buying the bottle of water and doing with less food or not buying it and buying what we need.
My conscience won over and I bought that baggar the bottle of water for which he was very grateful and the joy in his eyes I remember to this day.
Anyway, I got what was left with the change, picked my daughter up from day care and went home.
When I got home, I prepared the little that we had and settle in for the night. Around 10 pm, there was a knock at the door. It was my father who lived miles away from us in another city. he was in our town for business and stopped by to see how I was doing before he went home. I told him I was doing great, before my Daddy left, guess what?
He give me $1,000.00!!
Yep! My $10.00 was multiplied 100 times over that day! So I do believe that when we give it shall be given to us a good measure pressed down and running over.

Wow! That's a great story donna, yes if we give it will be given back to us and in good measure you are correct. I believe that too, that beggar might have been used bu God to test your faith. This is a perfect sample of giving even if it is not confined in churches, giving alone to those who are in need is like giving to God as well. Cheers for your wonderful story :)

All I can say is that with every promise comes requirements & those have to be met before anything can happen, having said so I'm not saying we earn grace by our works for salvation is a gift. Because there are people who misinterpret scripture & think if they don't do anything, God will still bless them. Yes, God will bless us but there's also another part of scripture which says if a man doesn't work, he doesn't eat. God will open up the windows of heaven & pour out His blessings upon us, rightly said but there's also the part that says IF ONLY we're faithful tithers although sometimes God in His mercy & kindness will still bless us

I believe so especially when it is generously given with pure intention.

No, I don't believe that "when you give to the Lord or to the church, you are going to be blessed." I believe that you are already blessed and so you naturally give, and the church just happens to be there.
God's gifts do not come to us because we make a good bargain, they come because God loves those who love others and we love others because God's love so fills us that our hearts overflow and the only way love's overflow is good is when it is given!

I do believe that when we give the world will reward us. But we should keep bear in mind that it is important to give from our heart. What is important to the Lord is the heart the we have when we are giving and not the amount the we give. It is better to not give at all rather than giving with a wrong motive.

It is true, because God wants us to remember Him. It is not the giving that God wants. It is the remembering and putting God as our first priority that He wants, and thus, will bless us back.
