it is hard to prevent it. even you put the lotion on skin, your child might loose it in only few hours. especially if she/he loves to play water. maybe you can try to make him/her drinks some 'jamu' it helps to prevent from the inside.

Is there any way you could get the spray and or lotion called OFF, if not there is also something called skin so soft from Avon which is also good to repel the insect bites.

There are several ways to keep the misquitos at bay. If you have ponds or slow moving water in your area you might want to see about getting misquito eating fish to populate them. Any bats in your area? They eat misquitos. Misquitos have lemon. Lemon scent in soaps, and candle. And Citronella is a misquito repellent that you can put on your son in the form of oil or set scented candles around to repell them. Good luck!

I think you child have allergy and that's why it swollen when ants or mosquito bite. You should consult with doctor as i believe your child need some antibiotic then the problem will be solve it out for forever. Because you can't protect him always from ants or mosquito. So batter you consult with doctor and always use lotion.

To keep insects away, apply 'Off' lotion on your child's skin. Do it several times a day. There is an 'Off' lotion for kids. In case this brand is not available, I'm sure there is another brand which can be brought in your area. In case your child already has insect bites or bumps, apply talcum powder or caladryl lotion to relieve the itch. During bedtime, you can let your child wear mittens or like gloves so that when he scratches his skin, it doesn't cause scar or wounds. Be sure that your son wears clothes made from cotton. Your son might also be allergic to certain things and food, so you may want to observe this.

I've done all that. I also have noticed the possibility of my child is allergic to food or not.

I agree with the advice given by other members of MyLot. You have to put anti-mosquito lotion. And make absolutely sure, your child's bed is not in coming to ants, or other animals. You must also ensure your child's circumstances, with your child examined by a doctor. You must bring your child to the doctor immediately.

There are a lot of good suggestions here, so I will mention the only one that has not been brought up, garlic. Garlic is not only a great natural antibiotic, but insects are repelled, by it.

My baby's skin is very sensitive as well, he got an eczema so his skin gets bumpy and red sometimes due to any kinds of rash. I bought Aquaphor for him, it helps a lot. I don't know about the mosquito bite... yet. Because it is still winter here, we do have a screen to prevent the mosquito to come in the house but still... you remind me, I hope it is not gonna be a problem for him...

Maybe a mosquito or ant bite, when your children sleep. To avoid mosquitoes, you can use anti-mosquito lotion, or can use mosquito repellent spray. So that the ants do not come, you can use chalk ant repellent.

hi indahfth, i wonder what is the age of your child. he scratches already so i guess he is no longer a baby. when he wants to play and that you will sometime be away for a while and could not watch the boy, put some anti-mosquito repellant lotion on his arms and legs. it is the safest. he must be a favorite of the biting insects so that is how you can take care of his skin. make sure that when he eats sweets like candies, he does not wipe the excess on his clothes or he will be an ant's favorite. hope i was able to help. have a nice day. ann

Hi Indahfth, I have the same concern for my eldest child who is just 1 year old. He has a very sensitive skin. It could be due to hereditary reason because since I was a child until now I still have very sensitive skin. My skin gets irritated so easily by insect bites, dusts, polluted air, grasses, etc. For my son what I do now is I make sure that when he sleeps he changes into his sleep wear and I carefully check for any ants on his bed. I also change the beddings regularly twice a week. We use insect repellent for him also.

Yes, I understand think all fair skinned people are very sensitive to their skin. Is your child fair skinned? I see white skinned people develop such sign when beaten by flees etc.

Hi. indahfth. I am so very sorry that your child is sensitive to insects. You should take him to the doctor to get treated. And you may need to buy some ant solution to keep the bugs from coming around. Do you know if your ground outside is fertilized or not? If not, then sometimes this can be the cause of why ants can enter in your home.

To prevent ants in bed, make sure it doesn't touch the wall or the floor in any manner, then place all four feet of bed in a shallow dish of water, keep full of water at all times. Sounds like your child might be allergic to bug stings and bites, there are many things available over the counter to relieve the sting and itch of bites, but watch for other dangerous reactions to bites, you may have to have an eppi pen on hand for serious reactions. Check with medical person.

Hello, dear. Your baby's skin is just like mine and my children. All fou of them have very sensitive skin that a little insect bites will leave their skin marked for life. What to do? Sigh... try as much as possible to keep your house clean and free from all those insects especially mosquitoes and ants because they are very horrible. Encourage them to wear pajamas especially during the night. It is better to keep them in that outfit if they are only at home , in case, those pesky animals want to have a piece of your son. If beaten, there are ointments which you can apply to eliminate the itch as well as to lighten the scar. Better ask your pediatrician or dermatologists what type should be used. Also, if it is already wounded, it is best to wash it with boiled guava leaves.Let the water cool down first until the heat is tolerable before washing the affected areas. It is the best way to cleanse and heal the wound faster. All the best to your son.
