Why is it that even though everyone says they want peace, we have so much war?

Why is it even though everyone says they want peace, we still fight with our neighbor?
Do we really believe what we tell ourselves, or do we merely delude ourselves with our own words.
What would be the cost of peace?

Because there is always conflict. Even our personal interest are sometimes in conflict with even those within our home. john lennon's song "Imagine" is ideal but difficult to acheive, unless we all become so selfless that we can all live harmonously.

I think people have wars because they want power and control. Peace costs a lot of money, time and effort as well as knowledge. The people within the community want peace, the governments want control...say of oil, which is the main reason why we are at war.
