I normally skip breakfast and just have brunch. This morning I got hungry earlier than usual so I decided to cook some noodles. I unpacked one and placed it in the microwave, I made coffee and waited for the noodle to cook. And then I smell something burning. I thought it was just a neighbor who forgot something in the oven and then it struck me. I open the microwave and there it is, the burnt noodles including the tuppercare. My wife asked me what's burning and I just told her i overcooked the noodles. Better keep it a secret from her until she looks for that missing tuppercare, not unless she sees it in the waste bin. This is the first time I forgot to put water on the noodle, gosh, i'm really getting older. I already sprayed glade all over the kitchen to get rid of the smell but it seemed it's stucked on the walls . I'm embarrassed with myself at this moment. Had this happened to you?

I can't say that it has happened to me, but I don't do much cooking. I do sometimes cook noodles, but I have always remembered the water. Most of the time, I just open a can (soup, pasta or whatever) and put it in the microwave...no water needed. The only other thing I put in the microwave is popcorn and I sometimes don't take it out fast enough. I'm sure it will be ok!

There is a first time for everything! I'm glad you smelled it because otherwise you could have had a fire. I guess it is just a matter of paying attention to the here and now. Have a great week!

No it never happens with me. But some similar things happen with me. I forget to stop the wave and my curry burnt properly. Then i feel shy for my room mate. What se will think about me that things made me so embarrassed. But it's ok as she doesn't said anything to me.I don't think so that the reason is you are getting old as i am young but sometime i also do forget.

Sometimes we can just get ourselves going in too many different directions. We think that we can keep up with our hectic schedules. it is easy to forget what we may be doing and start another task. As we get older, we can blame this on age, but age may have little to do with our forgetfulness. It might just be that we need to slow down and focus on one thing at a time.

Well i forget things every now and then but this case really is different since something serious could have happened. But the important thing really is not what happened but the lesson learned after the incident to avoid similar occurrence in the future. After all, nobody's perfect.

Yeah something like that happened to me too.
I put on some saba bananas to boil in a casserole. So, i left it to cook and went to the bathroom to take a bathe, since i will be going later to work. Then, from the bathroom i smelled something burning. I remembered what i was cooking. Gosh ! The underneath of the bananas were burnt and so with the casserole! I opened all the windows to let the smell out but i cannot hide the casserole ! Good thing, my mother-in-law didn't get angry!
I guess, forgetfulness is part of getting old.

I guess it's just a fact that fire burns. it's seldom that we cook saba but we have our share of burned saba, camote, rice, even adobos. For me all of those are no big deal since there's water in it before letting in boil. What really bothered me was the thought that i put the noodles, the seasonings in a bowl, put it in the microwave and forgot about putting water in it. I felt stupid.

Hi ybong, i think such incident happens with all of us, as we grow older forgetfullness becomes evident more and more lol
For me this i could feel at the age 50+, for example i want to tell some body a phone number, this number is at the tip of my tongue, but i can't recollect when needed, but later it comes,
This is sure sign of aging..
I am 65 now
Thanks for sharing
Cheers.
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.
