I have been working for an organization for a long time now, and all of a sudden I realize that I have not been doing what I always wanted to do, and I have observed that many people do not do what they really want out of their life.
what next? Should I just continue doing what I am doing or what would you have done if you were in this situation?

its all the more difficult when you know that you don't have any other option and you have to stick around for along time. The worst part is, you already know that whatever you are doing is not of your interested but you can not help it other than working.

I would say that you keep doing what you are doing but at the same time, begin contemplating as to what exactly you want to be doing. See it is easier to get a job when you have one then when you don't.
So maybe you will decide to get further training/education, or maybe you will decide that another total different career path/job is better. Which ever you do keep it silent as you will not want your employer to get wind of you possibly leaving. Try really hard to not even inform a co-worker as news travels.
Take a bit of time and make mental and or written notes as to what would make you happier in your work life and you just might find that maybe you like what you are doing and it just might be the environment/place you work at. Best of luck and this is what I would do.
