All I can say is WOW! i was actually at my wits end because my new online class required us to post in a forum. No big deal right? Wrong..no text box for me. I knew it was on my end because everyone posted via text box and when I checked the site at work..there was a text box. My b/f keeps screaming I should do Google Chrome..I resist until now...don't fix unless its broken mentality..well..it was broken. I downloaded Google Chrome and there it was..text box. So I decide to search around with it and it is really really fast!!! I was amazed. It might be my new default. Who knew? Have you changed your browser? Are you still with IE? Have you found anything that made you say WOW!?

I had the same reaction when I was having problems with my browser being really slow. I downloaded Chrome and it really ran fast, for a while that is. After I used it a while, it seemed to slow down too. In reality, my windows computer was the culprit. As windows computers tend to do, it was just getting overburdened with all the garbage that accumulates in the operating system. I replaced the computer with a Macbook Pro and went back to Firefox as the browser although I used Safari a little. That solved all my problems. I haven't tried Chrome on this computer yet but I'm sure it would work fine as well. It's a good one. Glad it's working for you.

It took me a long time to finally take the step to the Mac computer but I'm sure glad I did. They are expensive but well worth it if you spend a lot of time online like I do. This thing runs rings around a Windows computer. It boots in about 25 seconds on startup and shuts down in about 6 seconds. Never locks up. It can run multiple programs or have 20 or 30 websites open at the same time and doesn't even slow down. This thing really rocks. When your present laptop finally crashes, you should take a hard look at getting one.

You can buy additional software for other things but the software that comes with it will basically do what Microsoft Office does. It will also handle any files that you have on your computer from Office too. Word files, Powerpoint, etc. can all be opened by the software on a Mac. If you really need it, you can install a program on the Mac that will actually run Windows 7 within the Mac operating system if you have any software that's not available for Mac. It actually runs Windows better than a PC does. It takes a lot of resources though. I installed it but I never use it as I don't really need it. My Mac does everything I need it to do and I got the mid range Macbook Pro. It cost me about $2400 but I love it. It's supposed to last 2 - 3 times longer than a PC before it needs to be replaced too so you get what you pay for.

Haha~!You've missed so much fun but you're still not too late, ahaha!~Plus Chrome's tabs are not like IE or Firefox, they don't crash the whole browser as every tab is like a new window. And did you know you could drag the tabs out & put it to another Chrome browser window or just drag it back, hehe!~ You definitely can't do that with Billy boy's IE

I am a hard one to impress but WOW! That's all I can say. It has an automatic spell check and there are other things about it that chrome lovers have shared about it. I think that there are people that love Fire Fox too and I haven't tried it yet. I might download it just to try too. Let us know what you think of Chrome when you try it. Thanks for responding.

I had it and deleted it. I have a few add ons, that I use all of the time, that do not work with it. I am thinking of buying a Mac for my next computer, anyway.

Hi Jen.
I use Firefox myself and have for many years now. I do not even have IE any more and have not used it for about 4 years or more maybe. I have heard good things about Chrome but have not checked it out yet. I am pretty happy with Firefox at the moment.
What is this text box that you mention?

Within the forums of the online class, the only way to respond is within a little box that you type your text. Much like the box that we use to respond to discussions here. There are a few more options within the text box..font size, color, paste options in case you do your stuff on Word first.I had everything but the text box that I needed to respond in.
I think I might try Firefox too. Everyone seems to have great things to say about it.

You know..that Linux is amazing..what I have seen of it. The networking guys at work use it. One guy showed it to me once kind of quickly. He was showing me how you could change it to look like any operating system you wanted too if you were used to a certain format.

Oh, Ok! Firefox used to freeze a lot with me on Windows, but that was a few years ago, so it might be good for you. Now that I use Linux instead of Windows as an operating system, it works fantastic for me. Never a problem.

Hi JenInTN,
Chrome is quite faster when it comes to browsers no doubt. Unfortunately I am having some issues like more crashes, non availability of some add-ons but still I prefer to use chrome as it is light weight and as you mention - "Fast".
For technical work(as I am into web site development) I still have to use the IE - versions 6 and 8 apart from the Firefox... Quite a lot of browsers on my PC

I have IE9 and I think that is why it wasn't working on that school site. Not all sites are supporting it yet. I have not had any issues with Chrome crashing yet but if I do I will be back to IE or maybe I'll try Fire fox. I am amazed by the speed!

Yes indeed its faster than the others. I has been using it more than a years and quite satisfied with the result. Especially with slow connection its really help when I do my mylot because when I lost what I type because of bad connection I just need to press the back button and I got it back. Which I find really cool and helpful.
I never use IE for many years because I found its slow before I find Chrome I use Firefox. I think Chrome much simple but Firefox has many adds on which really helpful but in term of speed I prefer Chrome.
I think what made WOW its I meet few people in gardening forum thats really kind and generous. I never expect such thing from people I barely not known.

I use FireFox and am very happy with mine. I use to use IE and Oh my G, can't believe how slow it is now that I use FireFox.
It does make a difference to switch sometimes. I won't be using Chrome unless I have issues with FF so far so good.

I have heard that firefox is great too. My b/f had some issues with it but there are a lot of people that I know who use it. There have also been alot of responders that have said firefox is the way to go. I hope you don't have any issues with it. There is nothing worse than computer issues. Thanks for the input.

I haven't had IE for a while now. I use both Firefox and Chrome, and I must say I prefer Firefox. But Chrome is good too, although for some reason, and unlike Firefox, it tends to slow down or crash if I have more than one tab open. For all I know, it could be because of my computer.

Hi. JenInTN. I am very glad that it works for you. At least someone has tested it out. I tried it last year, and it was moving too slow. I have firefox as my browser. It works pretty fast. Internet Explorer has too many pop ups and the browser acts up at times. One time, it seemed to work okay.

I think this response is more for the 'don't fix it if it's not broken'. I have the same mentality, specially with my browser. I have a desk top and 3 other mobile computers at home. And all of them have different browsers. I would have liked to make it standard for all, but if it is working still, why change it. Right?

Yes...if its working...leave it be unless there is a need..I am glad I got pushed into this one though. I am really impressed. I think that there is always room to upgrade but when you get used to one thing, it's hard to see past that. Take care and thanks for the response.
