Ok, I need help from the mylot community. I'm hoping someone can tell me what could be the cause of my pain. Right now my arms hurt. From my elbow up my arm almost to my shoulders it is a dull pain to sometimes throbbing. I have no injury. It is something I've dealt with for years. I'm only 29 so I don't know if it's arthritis or not. I've had trouble since my teens. I'll have a day where my knees will ache. sometimes so bad it makes my stomach feel upset. Sometimes its my ankles, or my wrists. It's not just in my joints though, or maybe it is but the pain radiates up my whole arm or leg wherever the pain may be. I had a weekend a few weeks ago where my arms hurt from my shoulder to my wrists and I had to take tylenol constantly all weekend. It doesn't feel like the joints though, it's like the whole thing hurts. It feels like my bones ache. Does that make sense? It's like not quite a sore muscle, it almost seems like the bones. I do notice it comes a lot when the weather shifts. This time of year is hell on me. I'm scared to death if it's this bad now what it is going to be like as I get older. I went to the doctor for it as a teen and they just thought it was growing pains. I haven't gone back since. It was mostly my knees then, so i guess that is why they thought growing pains. But now it's my knees or my arms. What do you think?

Have you researched arthritis, because I think that's only in your joints, but I could be wrong. I would see another doctor about it. It could be bone loss, or perhaps a small fracture you had as a kid that never healed. It could be that you are injuring yourself without realizing it, like if you have brittle bones you may have a fracture and you keep rebreaking it everytime you pick up one of the kids or something. It's no joke, my MIL broke her back lifting up a coffee pot.. a typical 12 cup coffee pot! See your doctor!!

Thanks :) I was trying to look arthritis up but it mostly talks about joint pain and it isn't really in my joints...i mean it kind of starts there I guess but it radiates up my arm. Wow I can't believe your MIL broke her back so easily. I never broke anything as a kid, so I'm not sure if that is it. I've never even really hit anything hard enough to break it and I always drank a good bit of milk. I'm not crazy about taking a bunch of meds I guess that is why I've been avoiding going to the doctor about it. Plus it isn't every day, it's once a month or so maybe. I guess I'll have to go ask about it lol.

Once a month, huh? Does it correspond with your period? I mean, it doesn't seem to make sense and I've never heard of it before.. but perhaps it's just like some weird menstrual pain. I would try to think really hard about what else is going on when you feel these pains.. like the period, or maybe extra stress, something you ate, something you did.
If you have a small fracture, sometimes they don't show up on X-rays, so it's possible you did have a break that nobody ever found.
Like I said, go see a doctor and figure this out. I mean, it could be as serious as a blood clot or something horrible. Not to freak you out.. but any unexplained pain shouldn't be messed with!

I have heard that many babies and children have arthritis. There is a foundation called the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation.

Maybe that's not arthritis. Maybe you currently have muscle pains and joints due to stress or other strenuous activities you do daily. I used to have back pains, and pains on my legs and thighs. What I did was, I went to a spa and had massage. They told me there that the reason I have pains all over my body is because my muscles are so strained and also due to our cold weather. If such pains are not treated early, it will surely lead to arthritis or the like. Maybe you can try getting a massage and if things are still bad, then you might need to consult your doctor.

Have not you consulted with any doctor for confirmation of the diagnosis, whatever it may be?

Yes, it is the first and foremost duty of you. You must keep it in mind that there are so many types of arthritis like osteoarthritis arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis. So first of all, you need the actual diagnosis of the disease and then only a planned treatment can be started.Isn't it?

The are two types of arthritis: degenerative or rheumatoid arthritis. At the age of 20s, our joints are starting to degenerate. Eventually, some people experience such pain. There is more younger in your age bracket to have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is the most disabling condition for young adults.

Arthritis usually started at the age of 20, especially if they are into rough sports or strenuous activities. It is normal to undergo the process of wear and tears of our joints, it can be prevented. But, it can refrain us from doing proper body mechanics. Try to consult in physiatrist or physical therapist. They will run a test to determine what's the cause of that chronic you have?

Unfortunately, while you ARE quite young for arthritis it's certainly not unheard of to have it at your age or even younger. Does it run in your family? Since you wrote that it seems to come a lot when the weather changes, that makes me think it possibly could be arthritis. However, it also sounds like it could be fibromyalgia; the poster who said you should see a doctor instead of asking us is absolutely correct, but sometimes if you have some general idea you can help steer the doctor in the right direction as he or she works on a diagnosis.
I wish you good luck and LESS PAIN!

You can have calcified tendons. It can be quite painful and you lose movement in the joints. I had that myself and I'm 30 myself. If it's calcified tendons you should see a doctor about it and they will perform an xray, they may even perform an ultrasound on your sore joints. Ultrasounds can show more angles than an xray can and that is why sometimes they do ultrasounds, particularly in the shoulder area. If its calcified tendons it will eventually settle down by itself. Soft tissue damage you will have to take anti-inflammatories and maybe a quartazone injection. That injection is quite painful and my hint is don't look at the needle it's quite a long one. If its a fracture you still could be on anti-inflammatories. You can try heat packs to see if it helps settle the pain down.

I don't think you are too young. I feel funky pains in my knees/shins and in my lower back at times. I've gone to the Dr and I was told I had briscutus (sp?) and then another time I was blown off and told to loose some weight. Yes my knee's bother me more if I gain weight, but why just up the stairs and not for much else? I also have to ice them from time to time. My Aunt was diagnosed with arthritis when she's was in her 30's so I may be following in line with her?

You should go and see the doctor dear. You have to undergo some laboratory tests and examination to know the real score about your health. You are suffering pain and you can't just rely on hearsay. You have to have accurate findings and only doctors can do that.

I don't think there is an age for that affliction. I have a touch of it in my neck because of an accident I had when I was much younger. It sounds like your joints...now I'm gonna throw out a natural remedy here. Shark cartiladge pills. I know it sounds crazy but they have them at the local Wal mart. Try them! I have heard wonderful things!

Do you drink milk??? Your heart muscle along with all muscles use a calcium ion to make them work. So what happens when you don't get enough calcium??? Your body takes the calcium from your bones. After all, can't let that heart stop. Bones can become weak causing pain when doing most anything. One can even have a dull pain in joints while doing nothing. So drink lots of milk. Eat dark greens. Of course, one must get their vitamin C. Calcium must has that to help in absorption. Up your intake. If this is the problem, you will tell a difference right away. If your body is low. It will take several years to get it back up where it should be. If this doesn't work, let the doctors check you out. Not only can they help you but you might just teach them a thing or two with your case. Best of luck!!

I wouldn't know if it is arthritis or not as I am certainly no doctor but, I do believe you can get it at any age so you don't have to be old to get it. Maybe check with the doctor and see what they say! x

At this point in my life I am seventeen years old, I am rather large, (not in a bad way) because I workout constantly. The problem is, is that my father, and my mother both have very bad joints, even though they are in shape. The thing that sucks about it, is that the doctor told me that the joint problems are genetic, which really cuts into my lifting and sucks. My wrists, back, knees, and shoulders hurt, all day every day. So with that being said, and me being only seventeen, you may have arthritis, and it could be genetic. What can help though is vitamin supplements, they work great for me. I use Oxycollasyn, you may want to try it out!
