Hi,my friends!
Do u ofen help beggars?Or have u never helped beggars?
I had a habit of giving small money to old beggars when I saw them in the street.I thinked that they were really poor. But after I went to university.Something changed!
My friends asked me not to give a hand to beggars. They thinked the beggar was always a cat's paw.My friends told me that if we gave them more, the poor beggars' fate would be more miserable.I had no idea about it.
I don't know how to do.I would feel sad when I see them again and don't help them.Should I help them?
Do u have any good ideas? Please tell me,thanks!
Thanks for your reading!
Have a good time!

Yes I often do for as long as I have something to share not just money but food. After all, I am exemplifying the command which God has told me to do, "Love one another as I have loved you." Its showing love through giving and sharing what you can and have to others and anticipating nothing in return. As such, the adage, "It's better to give than to receive" is emphasized.

Yes, it is not compulsory, but if we give 1 coin, we may value it 10 and the same 1 coin for them the value may be 1000 - so our simile help would may a bigger difference for them, though it won't pinch us heavily.
Thank-s

Hi fjdolazy,
Helping out the street beggars? Well, now I do not. Just think, of the number of this class. How many would you rescue from poverty so makeshift poverty? Just helping (spoiling) one is not a solution to this problem.
Some time I commute through local train and there I come across beggars. One day one beggar was asking for alms after he sang a song. I gave him a one rupee coin. When I reached my station I saw the blind fellow walking without any companion and started counting the gains.
Look, this beggar.
Actually our Government has shelter house for the beggar but they are not happy with two times meal and to earn extra money they flee the shelter and are seen wound the rail/bus stations.
And giving them a penny is to encourage to become more lazy and worthless. So now I do not give alms.

Hi,Krajiba.
I think it isn't that all the beggars can get the alms. Some poor places the poor beggars can't get anything from the corrupt government. The government just waste money on their ways.HATE THAT!!!
I hate some normal person learn the beggar to get alms. It's contemptible...

Yes that is right. There are some govt. that provides the basic amenities but the deserving people do not get as the fund meant for them is eaten up by the middle man.

Hi dear,
I am in a bigger city where even the beggars also make a good income every day! There is a lot of internal politics within the beggars [area specific]. The organizers collect poor children from the streets and train them for begging. They will wander the streets and in the evening they are supposed to give all the collections the ‘bosses’ There are people to observe their movements and if the collection is less than what they expected, they will get beat and punishments or won’t give food or water even!
It is the big story and just a one part. There are worst cases of the same. But, in general, I would give what I can some times. Beggars are beggars and in all respects and they depend on others and live. This is the basic funda of them. So, it all depend on our choice to give or not. There are people give something in cash or food or cloth or any such things.
As this is also based on the acting, they have to show their sympathy to others to get few coins. So that they are smart enough to collect for their daily bread. I used to give some old man or women whom I know since long years. They never ask me and they are sure that I used to give whenever I feel and sometime the old man used to smile to me also.
Looking at the person, we can assess their capaicty and whether they are genuine or not, so it is upto the mark how you think about them.
It is life, and live is their life on the streets. They are not rich and if they are they will not extent their hands to us. In this case, we don’t require any calculations or anything. If we feel and have some coins, give it to them, for them it may help to get one times food which is short of a one time meals. If they go to any shop or anywhere, for some bread or biscuits, the shop keeper won’t give it free of cost. So, our coins are worthier for them and I will not tell you to give, but I used to give and all rest is upto you.
Thank-s

I used to give, and also because we are taught to be charitable from young. With time, my opinion is that there is always job to be found, why become a beggar. I have seen old men and ladies who would walk around trying to sell tissue packs (at a small profit). If the old people can do it, why is there a need for younger people to beg. If it is the case of disability, I am sure there are government aid for these people.
Some of the so-called beggars are able-bodied and really should consider proper work. Don't they know that begging itself is also hard work? In fact, harder than some available jobs around.
I guess on a situation by situation basis, I will still consider if the beggar deserve my charity. I am not brushing all of them off. For example, the very young kids, but I do understand some may be synidicated to do it. Nonetheless, it pains me to see them doing it at such a young age. I will try to talk to them to understand the situation, although I doubt I will get the truth very much.

Hi Fjclolazy,
Charity didnt mean you should give it to undeserving. When you do charity it is for a cause and it can be any kind of help, like financial, physical or you can give input with your knowledge. So you can do charity for cancer patients, can donate blood for the needy, can give money to foundations like CRY or other such organizations which are doing something good for the mankind as a whole and when you give money to those who wont want to earn then it is certainly not charity.

Hi,my dear friend!
Yeah,I was always taught to be charitable when I was young, but I still didn't give hand to beggars when I was young. When I got older,I turned to help them .
I also just got confused that why the stronger youngers would also needed help from beggar. They could do anything to get more than beggar,I think!
Have u ever talked to a young age?

It is really a sad view upon seeing them. You wanted to give and so you do but in the next days, same thing happens over and over again. It is like that their begging becomes their job. I do not think that it is something healthy. They get used to it. It is like exploitation.
I think that you should stop doing it. It is always good to help but this people are able to do things. Through the hand outs that they get, it makes them lazy and do less.
Some people just takes advantage of the goodness of others. It is sad that this has to happen.

It is unacceptable. They should be the ones taking care of their kids. They should not let their kids be out there asking for something because he has nothing to eat and all that. I think that parents are being unfair. I believe that before they plan on having a child, they should first secure his future. Kids should have a happy life on their first years. They should be playing not begging.

Yes, I still remember I have helped a beggar with some funny experience. Once I was having lunch with someone in a restaurant. There was a begger searching for the garbage can outside the restaurant and looking for something to eat. I dropped the luch and bought a lunch box wth rice and some kinds of good taste meat in it and also with a bottle of water , and whated to give it to the begger. But when I begger was gone. I then asked someone where the bagger has gone. I kept searching for him with my lunch box and water and finnally found him under a bridge and gave it to him. He didn't say thanks to me since he look a like some kinds of mental illness guy. Never kind, as long as he got things to eat ,then I feel happy. Chasing abeggar was the first time in my life and It was quite funny and a happy experinece at the end.

Hi my friend,
This is my story. I went out to eat with my friends. A child beggar asked me money. I give him. Then, there many children went around me and to give their hands out! Oh, my God! I didn't know how I can do at time.
I and my friends must asked the waiter to help us. Finally, we also escaped from the beggars!
Now, I only help the too old beggars whom look gentle.

Have you ever heard the saying "God helps those who help themselves"? well that is a good way of looking at it. I don't normally give to beggars or the homeless, but there are those that truly need it. Money is like a band-aid it's a quick fix. Helping someone would be to get them food and medical care if needed. I live in New York City and here are are those people that use the beggar form for financial gain. Some of them are liars. If someone is in true need, I will help them.

Agree with the first responder. I tend to regard most beggars as cats too; the more frequent you hand out money, the more they would desire, and as such, the more they would be seen loafing around the streets holding their hands out for a few measly coins. Well, that's what I think. You do what you think's right.

If I can ensure he or she is a real beggar,I will do him or her a favor. If not,I'll tell him or her to go to the policestation to ask for help. That way the crook will run away at once. There are too many crooks and professional beggars, they do begging to earn money!

There are a lot of needy people in this world because there are circumstances that makes them so, at times they cannot escapes that sad fate, but I don't ever think that being good to them or sharing what you have is bad because you were able to help a person and doesn't that make you feel glad inside?
You don't have to force yourself to give, but if thats whats in your heart then do so, no one's the boss of you! :D

I am not going to discuss the right and wrongs of giving to beggars. What I want to say is why are you doing what your friends tell you. If it pleases you to give some old beggar some small change then do so. It is your money and your life. If your friends say anything tell them they can live as they wish and you will live as you wish

I've often given to those in need who are requesting help. But I try to make certain that they are truly in need. After the donation leaves your hands, it is no longer your concern what the person is going to use the money for. Who are we to judge? If they are so desparate as to humiliate themselves into begging, I figure there is an actual need. My community is small enough that the needy are known and we can pick and choose where our charity goes.

You know there are two types of beggers in my place. I feel sad and i help the first kind whenever i see them. And i get irritated and even slap the second type. The first type they don't have good health, or they are old or they have no house .. I feel sad when i see them and i often give them some change. The second type , when they come and ask for money they will be drunk, and they will probably use the money the get to get drunk again. I get irritated if someone like this come to me asking money...

yes i do sometimes because sometimes like i would be in a hurry and not mind any thing at all including them but yeah i do drop some coins in to their containers sometimes. but there are also some kids that really beg you and follow you until you give them some. i also feel bad for those that are handicapped and just sit in one corner with his or her container. i feel bad about them, i wish i could have someone take care of them.

For me it's not the material thing that matters but the care that I show them. I have noticed that many give and grumble but usually when I give something to poor I speak blessings for them so that they too will be blessed. To bless those people is much compared to the material things that are given. It's the hope that we show them that should count.
