lets say someday I became so rich that i dont know where to spend my money, Aside from enjoying the comfortable life and having luxaries, charities must be a must but I think I will try to be different from the usual charities. Letsn say I will make a housing project for the poor people, I notice most housing projects were done wrong, My country have a small land area (there is more ocean than land) There is already a shortage of ricefields and forests, thats not a good thing. Most housing projects for homeless families I saw were freaking 1 story houses good for one family. There is already a shortage of land and they do that,, I think condominiums are more practical housing projects for the poor people. We will save more land and more families can have homes. The buildings will be solar powered so the families wont have electric bills. ------ I would also want to fix mother nature, I want to clean the dirty rivers and oceans.I would also try to farm corals and make artificial; coral reefs to repair the oceans and make the fishes happy. ----- I have more ideas on my head but i will save them for later.... If you are darn rich to infinity what would be your charitable projects?

I'd call it the "They're On Me" Program: whenever I stop by a fast-food place or a restaurant, after paying for my order I'd add an exorbitantly extra amount and say, 'And the next few customers? They're On Me.' That's something ALL the rich people (especially in Oklahoma City) should do!

So it's something that will read slowly but surely. I think it reminds me of the movie of that kid from the sixth sense

So how does this give on the program works because I kinda don't get it. Who are the people who will benefit from it?

It gives them the power to pay it forward (in their own ways). Just try it! it won't work "immediately," but it'll plant a good seed.

I would have livelihood programs and I would help poor people with the capital for their livelihood or business. I will focus on creating jobs. Why? I believe that it is the key to eliminate poverty in our country. I know education is the key to success but if you can't go to school cause you don't even have something to eat, how can you be successful? There are many graduates that don't have jobs. There are many unschooled people that don't have job. How can we eliminate poverty if our people are jobless. We can train people to work. If they get a job, then we help them stand on their own feet. If we give them job, they can buy food. If we give them job, parents can send their children to school and children don't have to stop schooling to help looking for money. If that happens, we will stop the cycle of poverty, you help your fellows and your country to be rich too. Then, I can now focus on saving nature.

I agree. students will be motivated if they see that what they learn is useful in real life.

sorry if I miss your response in this discussion, you know there were time I am not active in mylot but I am trying to catch up now. I know donating stuff to people will make them more dependent, let them learn to bake their own bread, instead of baking for them. I think our educational system needs to change too, school teacher lots of stuff but its doesnt teach how to use it in real life. How I wish our educational system is like the one in Finland.

Those would be very nice contributions. I think I would make a lot of healthy orphanages. I would make it a sort of school with a lot of professional teachers. I would also like to help out nature as well and maybe make some sanctuaries for people who are stressed out even.

I know in some orphanages children are not happy so to make an orphanage were children can be kids, a place were they will be loved and nourished even if no parent tried to adopt them, that place would be awesome.

I would put a cancer research institute and the same institute will provide funds for people who are financially incapacitated, especially children, to be use for their chemotherapy and treatment of cancer.

Hi captain I would do two things for sure - a Hospital with a research Lab for finding economic, viable solutions/treatments for many of the diseases. And yes, the second one - an island with almost everything for those who are suffering from non-curable diseases and are in the last stages.... They can stay there with in-house doctors, caretakers and chill out during the last days.

yeah many diseases were not able to find cure because of lack of funds, funding some great scientist will help this world be a better place. The second one you mentioned is kinda dark but yeah people needs to enjoy life in the last few days of their lives.

Hi Viji, I am aware of that fact and this is why I said "research" and not "production". I am aware that many companies in India use fake or banned substances and we say they heal well. Research on the patients that come to you and not treat them as Lab Rats. I remember once when I was visiting a Homeopathy-college-hospital for my illness, the doctor would take me to his class and treat me as if I was a specimen of the disease

Religion? I hope you do not mean Islam though because I am muslim. If you have read and heard about muslims denying girls going to school. They are wrong. I have started a discussion on this. About my post its totally my race that got left behind. We are progressing (probably because of Islam) but i do wish it is faster.

A scholarship for girls? Thats is a brilliant idea, I know in some cultures parents refuse to send their daughters to school because of religion.

I would definitely help those old people in the streets. I am close to my dear grandmother and I am heartbroken to see old people wandering around the streets, abandoned by their family, begging alms. I am disgusted to know that some of their kids would let those kind of things happen to their parents. I can't even think that would happen to me, that is why I have this soft spot for the elderly. Imagine, they don't have the youth or the health to be able to make a living for themselves. SO if would be rich, then surely i would put up a foundation/charity for them.

A large Home for aged with good facilities would be good for these elderly people who were abandoned. A place that would look more of a home than a hospital. Thats a very interesting charity because these people are abandoned and we know there are more homes for abandoned children but less homes for abandoned elderly people.

That's a very nice question! I personally feel that there are way far too many charities working for the good of people. If I had a lot of money, then I would several thousands of hectares of open land and plant trees - thousands of them, and create a green cover and this I would do in as many locations as possible. If we save trees now only then can we think about our future generations. Otherwise, there is lost hope for all of us and the coming generations. Also like you, I would like to clean up major rivers in India, they are just too much polluted to be of any use.

Saving the world and healing mother nature will benifit not only few people but the whole planet it self. I also wanted tom clean rivers and restore ruined coral reefs. Thats why my idea of jhousing program for the poor should be a condo unit because we will save lands and forests wont be ruined.
