I saw many people to write diary about there every day life. I don't do that. I never write any diary of every day life. What about you? Do you write everything in your diary that happen in your everyday life? Why you do this? I mean which things make you feel to write every day life in your dairy? Does it means that you want to share your life with others after your death?
Share you story!

I keep a diary because that's how you become a better writer. Not to mention I like to remember things. I've read a few of my diaries from a few years ago and I find myself crapping up about the stupid things I've done or thought back then.
A diary helps keep my thoughts straight, if I'm having a bad day I write about it and express everything I'm feeling and I end up feeling better.
Sometimes a diary prevents me from telling other people my business to others.
So it's sort like a best friend to me.

that is true. I just hate it when my friends take interest in my life when I don't want to tell anything but when I do want to tell them things they don't care.

It is glad to be a part of this discussion.
I have been writing my personal diary with lots love and interest.
It gives me relief.
It represent my true heart like a mirror.
It is my friend of true feelings.
The diary is only my mirror to show my feelings in the form of text.

Daily journaling can help you to focus on where your'e going, what you want to accomplish, etc. It's also a good way to "process" thoughts and emotions-someitmes putting them down on paper helps. It's amazing to see where you were 6 months ago compared to now; and sometimes you get a good laugh at yourself in the process. I enjoy journaling very much and it has helped me very much too.

When I was in my teens and in my early twenties, I used to write a diary every day in my notebook. I wrote down what I thought about every day, but later gradually I gave up this habit of keeping a diary partly due to my busy work and partly due to my laziness and lack of interest in it any more. Now I think it is a good idea to be here at myLot for discussions with different people when I have time. Take care.

I am so glad you posted this question. I am a 25 y/o with a 2 year old daughter. When my daughter was about one I started a diary so that when she is old enough she can read about all the events in my life, you never know... I might not be around to tell her myself. I think writing a diary is great if you have family or friends that you will be leaving behind some day. I know it is hard to think that a diary of your life would be of any importance or exciting enough for someone else to read but it probably is!! I just think it would be great for my daughter to look back on my thoughts, not to mention there is a lot written about her :)

Yes I do. Not of my personal matters. I keep a diary of my activities at my office. That is very much a necessity , not to forget the appointments and things to discuss at the forth coming business meetings. I have been keeping diaries for many years now.

I don't do that mainly because I'm lazy or don't have the time to do it. On of my colleague however do. With the help of technology, he is making video diaries of his kids with a camcorder and then put the bits of videos together to produce a movie or family documentary.
Happy mylotting!!!

I do have a diary but i don't write almost every day on it, this is probably because of the busy schedule in the office, but if ever i find time writing down things that happen to me i really write them down especially those which i feel i should not forget, mostly those that inspired me and incidents that made me truly happy, especially when it has something to do with my family. In cases where i am sad, lonely, problematic, i used to write them also but not much in my diary but only in a sheet of paper where i could read it again and again. Actually that is one of my own ways of coping with the hurts. I repeatedly read what i wrote and once the anger or the pain subsides, i crumpled it, then pray.

When I was in middle school I use to write a diary everyday more like a journal. I like writing and it is like an escape for me. I think that I write down all my thoughts and feelings everything makes sense and I get everything out. I tried to start again but it is hard for me to do it on a consistent basis.

Hi dream sharmin: I used to write on a diary everyday when I was a teen. I did it because it's a relaxing activity and it helps to put order in your mind and to understand your problems and what you should do in a moment of your life. I only wrote the things that were relevant to me but I stod doing this because my brother and also my mother has read my diary. I feel so angry after that and I didn't write a diary anymore because they didn't respect my privacy.

Before, I do love to write my day to day activities in my diary. What I wanted is to reminisce the old times when I get old. Thankfully, I still have my diary with me, though its 15 years old already. When I finished the whole diary of mine, I never buy another one because I find it very tiring in the latter part of my relationship with the diary of mine, maybe because I have so many things to look after for, unlike before that I have so much time doing my writing there. Its a matter of choice to anyone if they like to write their lives in a diary, anyway, its very relaxing for you are able to share you're life as well there. Have a nice day ahead!

dreamsharmin nice post! I do not write a diary about my every day life. I do not see the reason why I should be keeping information about my ups and downs in life. It will make me to feel a little sad. This is because a diary could possibly flash back sad memory of some disappointing moment I had in life. The only time I kept a daily diary was when I was working as a secretary in a business organization. My job role as a secretary require that I should keep all my boss business activities such as his travelling arrrangement or trip, telephone messages, receiving and documenting visitors that come to the company. So I was really keeping the company business life in my diary and I was paid for doing that job! However, keeping the diary of my personal life is not going to happen. I find it a little bit odd and challenging. It will only trigger up sad memories of my failure in life and make me to feel even sadder or bitter. I want to be happy and I do not want to recall sad event that such a diary will produce. I have said so much, have a great day!

Well, I'm not the kind of person who writes my experiences, secrets, and the likes, on a notebook that I will cherish for a long time, but I'm certainly not against it. A page or two for a day, and each contains every joyful or sad moment of the author. Then, it's up to the owner to either cherish those memories, or forget them.
After all, one needs to find a way to express him/herself in response to any and every event that that person witnesses, whether by sharing them to a friend or writing them down. It's really up to the owner to decide.

I have not done this in a long time as personally I have not been interested in wanting to do this for some time. But I do have notebooks of some of my past ones I have done, and they can be quite interesting to look back on. I know people that become Writers that use these for their stories, or memoires and it can be interesting thing to pass on when you are gone as well.

I have several diaries, or journals. I actually wrote two articles on the many types of journals you can use. I have a daily journal which, no, I don't write in daily. But it is a record of my feelings and events in general.
I have a journal for each of my kids. I started them several years ago. This is not a scrapbook. It is a journal of the funny things they say and do, a record of their birthdays, Halloween costumes and other holidays. They will get these books later on in life, maybe when they become parents.
I have a gratitude journal which I am ashamed to say I don't write in very often. I have a prayer journal. I feel the need to write down my prayers to make them solid. When I pray to myself I can get distracted so I am more focused in my talking to God when I write it down (even though He knows all my thoughts, wants and needs).
And now I am currently keeping a menopause journal. I am just beginning this journey and I am always wondering whether "this is normal". What a great help this could be for my girls when they get to this stage in life. If I'm lucky, it could be published and help a lot of women.
I like to write. I am having trouble with my creative writing right now so I journal instead.

I had this habit long time ago, but I don't keep writing diary any more. I am afraid one day my diary will be read by someone else and this can be a horrible thing. So I decided not to waste my time to write it. Especially I may not read my own diary again. So it is no need to write it down.

I wish I have interest, dedication and motivation to keep a diary. I could just type something on my computer every day or few times a week, but I just never have that motivation.
Diary is a way to channel one's thought. When one experience things each day, wbihat he/she sees or feels and anything whether it is important or not, a person would record it in a diary. In a way, it can act as a reminder for something to come, like a doctors' appointment or meeting with someone. Another thing is a way for one to evaluate himself/herself. Also, it acts as a biography, something that he/she can always come back to. He/she can share it when whoever that person feels comfortable with.

Diary is a collection of one's own memories. It is the mirror of one's life time experiences. We have write our daily works and our observed things. When we are free just we have to open it, and feel it. A new person will appear in us. That is the power of the diary. I never forget to write diary. Daily i have been writing.
