While I was watching some of the Award shows I seen this movie had won a couple of rewards so I decided to try my Luck and rent it. Believe it or not, I would have never dreamed it was just a documentary about Facebook and how it came into existence and all the Struggles with courts, etc. it went thru. If someone could have told me it was BORING I would never have taken the time to try and watch it.
Personally I know that Facebook has become a huge site, and one that most people use to contact others, and network with especially in Business, but I guess when you need to make a Movie about their start, etc. they could have made it a little more interesting as well. (Just glad I only paid $1 at Red Box.)
So what did you think?

I guess for some they found it interesting how Facebook got it's start, but why make a movie like this and get awards forgetting to tell most people it is just a Documentary so I would not have had to waste $1 renting it from Redbox?

I've never seen it. I cannot say what it was like, but yeah Facebook is very popular. My husband is addicted to it and spends way too much time on it. It annoys me that social networks attract so many people who waste their time on it. Strange they won an award if the video wasn't up to much.

The reason I wanted to see the movie was because it won an award so it made me think it might be worth wanting to see. But for me, this was a type of Documentary that I find boring, and not worth watching. As for Facebook, I at one time spent way too much time in there playing games, etc. and even ignored being here.

Well, personally I guess for anyone who wants to know why there are so many Legal problems with Facebook and it's creation this movie will tell you. But it could lead to future Law suits from what I have heard no matter what still as well.

I've seen previews and decided I wasn't interested in seeing it. Perhaps it was just bad timing. Maybe in 20 years when Facebook is a distant memory, maybe then the movie will be worth watching.

Personally for me, this will always continue to be one of those movies on the why did I ever want to see this? It was BORING and not worth the time they took to make it.

Oh. And I thought it would turn out pretty exciting. Well, because of their tagline. I believe it was, Geek. Punk. Billionaire? Or something? I had planned of watching it at the cinema, too. Glad I didn't.

Personally I wonder how many people went to see this movie, or like me decided to take time to rent it to often be disappointed thinking and hoping this movie would be about something more?

I can say the movie is not that great as other movies who have won a lot of awards in the past but I have to say the movie is quite interesting. It was interesting to know how facebook was born and the different drama surrounding its success. I guess the appreciation of a movie really depends on the viewers. Some liked the movie The Social Network and some didn't.

I guess if I would have known it was more of a Documentary type movie instead of expecting something different maybe I would have been able to watch it more. But I had heard about some of these issues before seeing the movie, so I guess in a way this now sheds more of what the Court things are about for sure. Just quite interesting though how Facebook came about for sure.

It's always best not to have high expectations when watching a most anticipated movie. I've had some moments as well where I had high expectations of a particular movie and ended up getting bored and had regrets for spending my money on something that failed my standards.

Well, I think personally this movie is for people who like a Documentary type film and for me it was just lacking. But it must be a big hit for some.

Hiya KH,
Aww that must have been a let down for you then. Anyway at least you know what it´s all about. I don´t always go by the Television Trailers here as they are a bit misleading and you only see what they think are interesting for them.
It was liked by some People from what I can see but I don´t think that it is my Cup of Tea either to be honest.

You are so right! To be honest, I never bothered watching that movie for several reasons. First, I think it's just jumping on the bandwagon and hype that is facebook. Second, there is no redeeming qualities in the protagonists in the film. Whenever I watch a movie or read a book, I want to be able to root for the character. I want to watch someone I can empathize with, and this movie is a huge zero in that department. Third, it's just HYPE. I know that's my first point, but I can't help coming back to it.
Mark Zuckerberg is NOT an individual worthy of a movie. His so called friends, fictional or real, are not either. There are other things worth making a movie about, and facebook is NOT one of them.

Some interesting comments here. I think personally overall, this can be one of the issues for sure. Because in reality with any Social Networking site like MySpace, Friendster, Facebook, and even here in myLot, you can be the one who is just looking for people out there to be your friend knowing you do not know them, and most of them you probably will never meet never taking time to think of them as a real person and most of the time just wanting numbers instead.

I just watched it recently. Just like what you said its just a documentary and how did they start and their struggles in court. It may not that great like the other movies but I guess it inspires some junior or aspiring to have their own websites like me.

I didn't think I would like the movie, but now it's cool having some knowledge about the website I use all the time that came out of nowhere. Some of the acting was subpar, and it was extremely realistic, but overall I thought they portrayed a good depiction of what happened.

Thanks for the warning! Here I thought it was probably a really good movie since it got so many awards and nominations. I guess that doesn't always mean much, right? I just might check it out when it comes on HBO or Showtime if I can't find anything else to watch one day...lol! That way I won't be wasting any time or money.

Actually, a friend of mine suggested it to my children last week. He thought it is a good example of commitment and persistence... haha... so: I won´t rent it. Blessings!... Dainy

I watched it on Premier about 10 days ahead of the actual screening
worldwide. Since it is a premier screening, it was free-of-charge.
I think if watch on big screen in cinema, it will be better with
the music that (a bit noisy) put a bit of 'suspense'. My son could
not watch it because he is below 18 years of age. I told him that
it is nothing much but about the real issues that happens with Facebook
when it started and how the betrayals / interest conflicts etc. A lot
of conversations and need focus.
I do agree with you, it is not worth paying a lot for it. There are
many more entertaining shows out there that are more worth watching

I haven't seen The Social Network because of the fact that I just haven't had the opportunity to see it yet. That said, it is actually a movie that I am very interested in seeing. I know that it is supposed to be a documentary, but some of the reviews that I've heard on the movie sound really good. I will say that there are cases that I don't agree with the way that movies are reviewed, but I think that the cast of this movie would be what really makes the movie.
