BiPap Machine

Canada
March 6, 2011 9:21pm CST
First I want to say I do not have sleep aphnea but what happens is when I sleep my oxygen level plumages way down therefore I am now using a BiPap Machine which apparently differs from a CPap machine. My question is does anyone here use a BiPap machine and if so do you get sever dry mouth, rough tongue and numbness on the inside of your lips which lasts anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours? I'd love to hear from anyone who may know because around here you have to wait a min. of one month to see a doctor and yes my appointment has been made. Thank You in advance.

The dry mouth is to be expected. Are you using a chin strap? If your settings are too high you may be getting consequences from that. I would suggest that you do an online search for your questions. Sometimes the settings may be too high and an O2 therapist would be better to advise you than a physician. Some physicians aren't well up to date with the tools.

pergammano, never mad to hear from you shows you care. I have had some crappy issues but trying to correct what I can. As far as the machine being noisy No complaint, the constant ringing in my ear bothers me far worse, but what does bother me is getting the mask to fit properly when I put it on. It blows air out the side and makes a loud fart noise, well try to go to sleep with that happening. I have to reposition the mask sometimes a half dozen times before it's OK but once it gets there the noise is no problem. I don't get nearly enough sleep. Thanks so much pergammano. Take Care my dear friend.

Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear of your troubles. Happy that you have something to help. Hopefully you can figure out the problem and get it solved. I have no knowledge of the machine you are talking about. I see that Lori responded and has some good answers for you. I do know that oxygen is very drying. As always its so nice to see you. Take care my friend, I hope it gets better for you.

Sad to say the apes are hard to keep in the cages, they keep escaping. I so wish they would escape my house, no such luck coming my way. I supposed there is always hope. Tons of love coming your way too.

I hope things are better with this for now. This does not sound good with something like this happening for you with using a machine like this. Too bad you had to wait for so long to get a doctor to see you and discuss this with you. Hope that they can get down to the bottom of this and help you to where you feel better.

Maggiepie has had one for many years now. Do you sleep with your mouth open? do they have you using a mouth breathing one or a normal mask? could the mask be too tight? She has a normal mask, sleeps with her mouth closed and likes it. What she was doing was instead of holding her breath the way people on Cpaps she did it the other way, but I don't know the difference... I do know that her O2 levels drop when she sleeps without it, happens at the hospital all the time.

I have a mask type and goodness knows if I sleep with my mouth open but I know I don't when I first go to bed but sleeping alone I have no one to ask and goodness knows. Thank You for your response.

they have a "chin strap" to help keep your mouth closed, but Maggie hated it she's on O2 all the time, has to put it on the machine when she goes to sleep

Hey! Nice to see ya! I don't know anything about these machines and the only thing I can think of is to take a drink of water before you put it on, and maybe some lip balm, too. Is it helping otherwise?

Good to see you as well BarBara, Yes I do drink a lot of water but that has made no difference and you want to talk a wreck. I have tried all different lip balms and absolutely nothing will work for me. So I used vaseline and same thing I broke out in cold sores on both sides of my lips happens every time. Thank You so much for your response. Think I'm going to pieces hehehe. Take Care.

Hi grandma. I have never heard of that kind of machine (as I do not use Western medicine), but I wish you good luck in solving your problem, and wanted to say hello, as I haven't seen you around here in a while.. But then I have been offline a lot lately.
