I would say you should discuss the procedure with your cardiologist. They're more aware of the particulars of your heart condition and are informed as to what procedures are safe/unsafe for your condition. My youngest son has a heart condition and I always consult his cardiologist before any procedures. Good luck to you!

My understanding, after doing a little researdh, is that stents that have been put in since 1996 are OK. But an MRI cannot show the inside of the stent.
Personally, I am unable to have an MRI because I have an
internal defibrillator.

Hi AB - I'd consult your cardiologist or physician and ask them for advice on this topic. They are the only ones who can provide you with accurate information about risks involved regarding issues of the heart and their interaction with medical technology.

Anyone with heart stents and or heart pacers are not allowed to have MRI's it can be deadly and the facility could be sued. So best to check with the physician, although I remember clearly that a patient with a heart stent carries a record card with them all times.
As technology has advance in a way where some are now permissible.

First of all if your doctor knows what he/she is doing and if they know that it is dangerous for you to have an MRI with a heart stent they will not order one for you to have.Get a second opinion.
