this is what every student does....when he is a student..hehe
But it is not suggested by anyone but it is what is followed by everyone including me....
We make alot of time on internet as of today but we dont make a good deal of of our books anymore and make our time and learning on the internet everyday...
Reading is a good habit...and even from today should tend myself and make a wise direction towards it....
What do you say on this?????

The same topic has several rounds of discussion here and all the time everyone has the same opinion. Reading is one of the main source of input to our knowledge. Though we have more advanced techniques and audio visual methods were adopted, reading has its own importance to brush up our minds. We need to try hard and understand the importance of reading. It has been conventionally proved that it has importance to improve our knowledge and reading will help different levels of improvement and help to think more as well.
Thank-s

Hi dear,
Thanks for your response.
Yes, that is the reason why the number of readers has been reduced substantially during these days. The medium of learning from reading to others sources has been dominated. Still, there are a minimum number of people still enjoy reading and they get happiness while reading, especially novels and other typical books.
It is on the way out of my office, there is a book selling do the same on the road side, with very reduced rates having a lot of collection and he used to sit on the evenings. I have noticed that many people used to purchased books from him and if I am correct, he sells about an average of 40-50 books in a day. That means, people still like reading and look for good publications. However, I think we need to promote people to read and it is always a good practice to have reading and will improve good language skills as well.
Thank-s

I read all the time for FUN. I hardly ever read to study and I hate how reading is always connected with studying these days. I'll be reading my high-fantasy novels at the train station and some random person will come by and ask me if I'm studying. I mean... seriously? What's wrong with you people? Reading is fun! I love reading, and I'd choose a good book over movies, television, and even the internet.
I'm a college student and I hardly ever read to study. Not that I don't read to study, but somehow I don't see study reading as real reading. I probably study-read more than any of my peers... but I still spend a whole lot more time reading for fun. I make fantastic grades (Straight As most of the time). The way I see it, nothing opens up your imagination or ignites your passion for knowledge like reading... even when you're reading high fantasy novels for fun.
So quit contributing to the decline of intelligent society and read a book for fun.

Reading isn't just for learning though... that's my point. Reading is fun too. Even if you're reading for fun, you're still improving your comprehension and expanding your mind. I think if everyone watched less tv and surfed less internet and replaced those things with reading books... then the world would be a much smarter place.

Hi,you mean those text books. I think reading is very important for everyone of us, from reading, we can be informed so many useful informations.
We read newspapers for latest news, read novels to enrich our literature culture, read for some answers for problems we met. So almost all of us read each day for this or that reason. Including we read discussions here in mylot, then give out our responses to make friends and earn side money.
So i think reading is very important part of our life. And those who only read books before exams will not get real knowledge.

yes..what you told is the real fact of life. We dont get any real knowledge if we study before the terminal end of the examinations.
Reading a lot of literature and etc will surely enhance our knowledge anyway, but atleast now we need to train the younger generation to study and make then more wiser at their age.

It is true that a lot of students do this. However, I am a student at the moment, and I know a few people who do read the material before hand, and not just the night before. I usually tried to keep up with my weekly readings for school and such. Although this is true for a lot of students, I wouldn't say that it is the case for all students.

Hi,
When I was schooling, I love to read books and
I would say, I don't like to have
last minutes revision for my examination.
So almost everyday, I will have some revision on some
subjects and thats make me no rush when come to
examination time.
But now, I have graduated and I am not in the mood to
read books, once a while I will read magazine.
I am more interested in online news, chatting with my friends,
facebook-ing and blogging.
For my son, I do read books to him everyday, and I want him to
have a good hobby at home. Reading is definitely good hobby and
have to train our kids to read since they are young.

yea..it is more important even i neglected that times and now i am at the end of my graduation. Children need to have a sureshot habit of reading good books which will make them even more wiser at the young age itself.

LOL. I was guilty of this when I was studying in college especially when it came to minor subjects in our curriculum. Most of the time, I would just skip classes and attend during exams. I skipped all the lectures and just read books and my classmate's notes before exams. Well, I totally regret doing that back then. I didn't really learn and now I'm having a hard time on my job because I'm not competent and knowledgeable enough about my profession. I wish I could go to school again, but it's really too late already.

Since internet exists, it's a great help for students and non-students/workers to get any information very quickly. But the best combination is using internet and reading books. We always should reserve a time during the day for a book, as reading even on papers we learn plenty of new information without realizing it. I returned to the studies realizing distance learning and online learning, which is very helpfull, but I still read books as I enjoy it.

yeah, reading real books is the real enjoyment we had in schooling, but as of now everything is becoming virtual and digital technology and smart palm tops etc are rapidly growing, importance need to be given to all the aspects and take the books which have the treasure of knowledge.

yeah. thats true.. reading is important as well as browsing the internet.. Both are very important in studying. When i was still a student, I seldom read books.. i don't know why. Whenever I start holding a book and start reading, in less than, let's say 3-5 minutes I start to yawn and there and then before I knew I felt asleep already. and when exams came I cram a little and still don't read a lot but thanks to our almighty I still passed all my subjects and graduated at the right time... I even passed my board exams with out reading a lot and having a lot of sleep... hihihi....

hmm..yea...it happens almost for everyone and even had for me too. Reading doesn't mean that you will learn everything and as you are without reading you can make it becoz it depends on the IQ levels and the reproduction of the information which is enough to pass. anyway good achievement.
