What Do You try To Convey When You Use Those Banned Words on MyLot

Hi Lotters I fail to understand when people use the banned words on their discussions or the responses. What are these people trying to convey? Frustrations? Anger? Or anything of the like? I can understand that the usage of such words might be ok for some occasions on a text or voice chat but why on the forum like MyLot where you can always take a glass of water to cool off your frustration or anger or the emotions and return back? Do you try to convey that you are aware of these words? Or do you try to show that you are smart enough and have a way out to cheat or trick the script of Mylot? Or is it because you want someone to click that "-" button or even the "!" button and report to the admin? Whatever be the reason, I am unsure of... But I am certain that I do not like the usage of such words anywhere and your using these words makes me feel at times that you just had a fight with someone in real life and Lost, or you are too much upset about the real you or whatever which gives me a very gloomy picture of yours. Give it a thought and I hope that you understand the point that "Your using these words does give a whole lot of negative opinions about you on the community". Have a great time, Healthy Mylotting, theSids

Hello Sidhu, I never used any bad word here and my request to those people who use bad words, simply re-read what you typed and you will understand the unnecessary words which is enough to hurt others. Mylot is not a place to show our frustrations. Difference of opinion may be there, annoyance may be there but we should handle them in a nice way so that others won’t get hurt. Calling somebody a bad word, not once but many times, not at all appreciated. A person with self respect, never tolerate such kind of remarks. How are you then? Hope you conveyed my greetings to your wife.

Hi Sree I know dear, many of my great friends here at MyLot will never use these kind of words as they are lovable people and know what manners are... And then as you mention - MyLot is not a place to vent out anything that comes to us... it is a social platform and we should respect the society I have a big load of emails to respond in the next two days. Sorry for the delay. It has been the usual power and bad internet connectivity here which seems to have been resolved for now today.

Hi Sid/Kul, If everything goes well, there arise no need of such a thinking. Sometime when things goes upside down, people will think rash and goes beyond control with expressions and words. As long as we can express our mood with a nice language and the same can understand the reader nicely, what else is required. As you mentioned, it is some people’s mentality that they will get attracted if use such words. Unfortunately, they don’t realize that they are not getting praised. Thank-s

Hi thesids, I believe people who like to use bad words or the banned words in mylot is actually reflect the real side of that person. That mean in the real world, he/she probably will also like to use those words in their real life conversation. For me, people who like to use bad words in their conversation is an uneducated person, they do not know how to respect others and never feel shame to say those word in front of others. I will never respect people who use bad words in their conversation especially when they talk to me. I usually will stop my conversation with them immediately. So, people who use bad/banned words in mylot is actually do not want others to respect them as well.

Hi yspmyl That is so very true... I have a similar feeling and I too would prefer to cut off the relationship anytime I see that... the vulgar words are bad and should not be used.... Because I feel if one can use it for someone, s/he can use it surely for me too someday... so better to stay away from that

Hi Sid, For the last one year time, I got captured 2-3 times with some words. I used certain alternate substituted words at the moment. I know this conversation has relevance in this week after a lengthy conversation end up so sad last 2-3 days back. People had mixed and heart felt and touching discussions on that topic. I know that many are tried to express their relevant feeling to come more closer to the subject. However, depend on the intensity of the topic, we may feel the substitutes or some other pronounce may won't give the exact meaning what we meant. But the blocked words are really can be ignored and the usage of certain words may really make more complicated when it comes associated with typical subjects. It really expressed the same in the previous episode, if you remember. Thank-s

Hi Brother No No... This is not with reference to any of the discussions in the near past.. It is an observation and even my last discussion has one comment where the responder boasted of how he could get through the checks... He was acting smart and I did respond to him but as usual, he never came back to have a look. Yes, the Intensity of the topic for sure is the one to be blamed but more so, we, make it intense... if all maintain the decency, I dont think there is any reason why anyone would use these words... But still as I said, some will never change and keep putting these because they think it is hip and fun

Hi thesids, I am fairly new to myLot and have seen some words on here that I was a bit stand off by and worried that some members will swear like to me. I did not accept the mature content for that reason and hope that the members here are nice and will not swear. I do not swear in my personal life and cannot see me swearing online. I think it says something about the persons characther when they do, and I would be afraid to be in a fighting war with someone who uses the language casually. I don't know about the(-) and (!) button you are speaking of but I am new so I will learn the proper way to use it. Thank you for this discussion and have a nice day.

Hi Marigiggles Welcome to MyLot dear. That is precisely my point and why this discussion. They say as you sow so shall you reap... so why sow the seeds of ugliness and hate. I am sure and can tell you from my small experience here that like every other society there are good people and bad people. Fortunately, due to the GAA (MyLot Admin) and the Rules of the site, you would find that our MyLot Society has a much larger number Great People and you would find their discussions quite healthy and Informative. As a starter - Please Read the Guidelines to know about what you should and should not on MyLot.... Make your self comfortable and at ease here.

Hello thesids, I think we should quit trying to understand the reasons of people who are not like us. I try to take them as they are. If this is all that they can, so be it. We can't change them. They must be very determined to use those words, as myLot doesn't let us submit a response/comment unless it is free of words that violate the terms. It happened to me twice to receive the red message from myLot: "The following word or words violate myLot's terms of use: xxxx Please reword your submission and try again." but I had no intention to violate any rule. Once I tried to write a Romanian translation of a proverb but it seem that the Romanian for "how" was a violation of the terms. The second time I tried to use a pet name for a friend's nasty dog (something similar to "you, little rascal!") and myLot told me that word was unacceptable.

Hi inu Yes, it is good that MyLot does prevent us from typing in these words and keep us away from them. Unfortunately sometimes some people get a bit creative and try to sneak through the filter... I too have occasionally faced that kind of problem where they would not allow me to type out some words but I am happy that it is for good of many (if not all)

I never used any bad words here other than: sorry and very rude words for me it is bad because I said sorry to someone becuase I done something wrong to them. then I used the rude if I felt that my wordings are very direct and little bit attached the concern. But those words that even dog and cat unable to eat - NEVER my friend... see you around

Simple! They are part of my vocabulary. I swear like a sailor. I got it from my mom. Both of us are/were accused of being ladies but we are not. I am polite but I'm no lady. If I'm pi$$ed off the swear words flow like water down a stream! I choose my words well and when a swear word is needed , I will use it. It isn't out of frustration, it is my choice.

There are many alternative words that convey the same meaning. If I use a word that the site says is not allowed then I simply use alternative words to describe the same meaning. It may take more words but the meaning is still clear.

I have no idea what words you think are so terrible that their meanings or the actions they describe should never be used. Many swear words are ancient and often have quite different meanings to the way they are used today. The word that denotes a female dog is now a swear word, so too the one that denotes a child born out of wedlock. The meanings have been twisted but the words have been in the language for centuries. They are not modern inventions, just used differently. I cannot imagine what words you think are to terrible to use that the action or description cannot be used in normal English. If I was typing something and the word was not allowed then I would just use longer words to describe the person. Such as saying what a nasty person she was and what she did to be described as such. I do not write in anger and I do not slander people but I am suprised and annoyed sometimes when a word I use is not allowed, especially if I think the word is harmless.

What I find funny is when I input a perfectly normal word, and the filter doesn't allow it because it also has a second meaning. Once I was talking about a children's poem, "The Owl and the P*ssycat", and the filter didn't like it. But as for using curse words here, I think we are looking at a cultural difference, but some people aren't offended by them, and some people use them for emphasis. I use them very sparingly myself.

It's funny that a perfectly normal word in Britain, for example, would have a really bad meaning here. Probably vice versa too. And the choices for the filter are sometimes odd, but sometimes it makes for really funny discussions!

Hi thesids, Mylot banned words or not approved ones are still used in a style. The answer to why they use them could be what you have written. Anger, irritation, frustration and many other moods. Actually I do not use those words which I have to replace with some other words but sometime it passes through without your knowledge. Several times I happened to write "Tom, d1c and harry', and in our day to day discourse this is not vulgar but mylot has some other connotation fr it which is why they do not let you use that name. And on such cases if people adopt the method I have just now there is nothing wrong I guess but others are not.

hi rajib I can understand your point here. The Mylot script responsible to check these words should be more effective in terms that it should also take into account the context if not then we are left with other options to try and find a replacement word for it or use the cheat code to pass through... But the straight forward vulgar words should not be allowed even though anyone tries and applies the cheat codes

Twice i encountered a response to my discussion that was banned. The first one, i never get to read it because i opened it thru Mylot . But the other one, i get to view the response because i opened it in my email's inbox. I came to know that it was banned because when i opened it at Mylot, it was signed as so. So, that was it, i read it in my inbox and i find nothing offensive in his answer. He was banned maybe, because it wasn't in his interests or preferences, just as sometimes i was warned whenever i have to submit a response. Then i will edit it according to what they like it to be, then it will be okay and sent.

Hello Sid, If I am using banned words I am trying to convey: that I am voluntarily not following guidelines. that I can't stop myself using those words. It's my habit. that how wast and deep my dictionary is. that my level of conversation is revolving around those words. that I love creating nuisance whatever I do. etc. I think it is a social site to enjoy in many ways. Those who want to be here and enjoy maximum will never use such words. Those who are not serious and are just fake will use and enjoy that type of language in serious discussions.

thesids, Other than obscenity, I have to say that there's really no such thing as banned words here. Literally, I think you would have already experienced that there are certain words that are automatically disallowed in myLot - so I think this is helpful to letting discussions from swaying negatively. However, I must say that perception is really a funny thing amongst us where it could easily stir up things when one party takes certain word(s) out of context. Or, misread an intention when there wasn't to be. So this is really not just individual but personal as well, where even when you try to convey your well intention. For me, I would not try that hard to convince when there's clear indication that the other party is adamant.

Hi skysuccess You are correct that perception matters and when there are many cultures and many countries involved, there should be some constraints as words may convey negative meanings to different people.

I totally agree. It's better to "cool off" first before coming here to descriptively rant & rave. Why not just get it "out of their system", then tell us of the experience when they're in a much better frame of mind? Empathetic solace can be sought at that time, without the need of harsh words. Cheers; commanderxo

Hi commanderxo That is a great sum up of what I wanted to convey - Empathetic solace can be sought at that time, without the need of harsh words It just takes a second to build a healthy relation ship or turn off a relationship - one word and that does the difference... From my little experience - I one was eying to make a Friendship request to a Lotter and as normal me, I was following some of the places that had his discussions, responses... Unfortunately I found that this lotter was playing different roles at different times... on the started discussions... quite polite and fun loving but on a few instances, when the responses started turning into arguments, he nearly lost control of his cool... I felt hurt at the start but then I realized, it was good that I had not yet sent the Friendship request. We are here for fun and peace and why to risk those chances and friends?

To top it all, it was supposed to be an encouragement to GAA There are some people who thinks that using bad words is 'cool' and 'hip'. They just use them at a drop of a hat. I put it down to ignorance and youth. Even then, there's no need for bad language here at myLot. Many times I started typing, then backspaced them all. Banned or Bad Words should never be Used Online at any Site as it is Wrong and Improper. It goes against All Standard of Business Online and Offline. You got a Problem with a Member. You need to Report Them to the Administrator. He or She will be Warned based Upon What the Infraction is. Then Banned for a Period of Time or for Good. If the Person don't Learn a Lesson.
