Its hard to believe that in this day and age there are still people with such hate in them. The Westboro Baptist Church are among the most hate-filled weirdos out there. You may have seen/heard of them. They are the protesters that go around to soldiers funerals with signs like "Thank GOD for DEAD soldiers" and "GOD hates F*GS". If not, check out their website here @ http://www.godhatesfags.com
The Supreme Court recently ruled that even though they have a negative effect on the American public, they are protected by the First Amendment of free speech.
How can the government let these people go to funerals of these fallen soldiers and harass the poor families, most of which include children. These people are sick and need to be stopped. What are your views? What should be done about these horrible examples of the human race?

I wish there was something that could be done about these people but unfortunetly its just like every other extremist group that is out there they get away with pulling this crap because of free speech. although i'm surprised the police can't find someway to turn it into a terrorist thing them pretty much attacking soldiers and there family's and all

Many towns and municipalities have laws against certain things that can be said. For example, to walk to a black man and call him a F**K**G N****R is against the law.. it can be considered a hate crime.
So, I'm not so sure about what can and can't be done, versus who is actually willing to take the time and research beforehand the laws of each town / place that they announce they'll be picketing at ahead of time.
If they were to say "DIE F*G!" in many places, while waving an actual weapon or a potential weapon in their hands, they can be arrested for a felony that is typically called, "terroristic threatening."

I'm a Catholic, and I feel sick to the stomach when they assume that all priests molest little boys. What the heck? My priest in my parish never does such a bad thing like that!
Basically, I would pray for God to change their hearts and acknowledge them that He is love. He does not hate homosexuals and accepts everyone of all walks of life!

Personally from someone who had their real Father retire from the Air Force, and a Grandfather retire from the Army and someone on my husbands side who served in the Army and knowing others who have served, anyone who chooses to openly protest and such is a Sad state of affairs. Because personally where would we as a country be without them overseas fighting for us? Many a life has been given for people to be Free.
As for standpoints and signs against the other things... personally due to my religious views I am against Homosexuality in any form, but I could never go around telling people they are wrong, and wearing a sign against them. I feel it is each persons right to believe how they want too unless something else comes in to make them change it.

Hi jaymze, I'm sure that something can be done and it should be a lesson to everyone as to what we can be indoctrinated into believing. It's clear that, as you say, these people are sick. How can we let people get away with such things in the name of religion. If someone having nothing to do with religion were doing this, they would have been arrested long ago. I'm happy to see the influence of religion waning on an almost daily basis, but I still fee that religion has far to much power. Do something about this group and than take a good look at the tactics being used by some others.

IGNORE them and stop giving them the publicity they crave. Pray for them that they come to the knowledge of mercy and forgiveness and love. Other than that, put them in God's hands. He knows what best to do with them.

"Hate" ... 'Hate' is the strongest Love humans can muster! When they say "God Hates F@gs," they are actually acknowledging that homosexuality is on an equal par with their understanding of God.
Our Father is better than having to worry about whether His children appreciate the gift of reproduction appropriately. I do, because I do; but if I didn't--tho it would be against Our Father's will--I would still be His son and would still receive my inheritance.
(Maybe I would be wasting my inheritance away and die leaving an example of the fruitlessness of a queer-lifestyle, an example which would soon be forgotten---unlike the lifestyle homosexuality empowers and will keep empowering through my children and my grandchildren for generations-unending;
(But the inheritance He holds for me--an unending supply of Heavenly-delights--is mine!)
The way I would fight the WBC Bible-Thumpers who see a hateful God and spread that Hate to all the nations? Not the way they fight people they don't understand!
I fight them by showing them the TRUE opposite of love, like this ... Are you ready for this?... Are you ready for this?...
...
So, I saw a DOCTOR WHO rerun today; that one where David Tennant saves the world, but then the prime minister destroyed the space-ship that was threatening them anyway ... I think she did the right thing ...

Ignore them. All they want is attention. If you don't give it to them, then there is no reason for them to picket. We already know that they are sad, sad, excuses for people. But, we need to pray for them that God has mercy on their souls.

Nothing should be done about them they are nothing but a Media attention grabbing group if anything we shouldn't even talk about these people they are off their rocker and well just ignore them long enough and they won't make enough money to keep their websites up or even have a roof over their heads.

They should be confronted with the same word of God that they believe. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Love those who you do not agree with.
