A couple of days I got my water bills and for 6 months that charge is around two hundred and thirty pounds. I wouldn't be able to afford a whole year's charge at a time. Just as the government are saying use less water the charge for water is really high. I find household bills like water, gas and electricity are rising at the moment.
Do you use much water in your home?
Are you using any water outside your home like cleaning your car or watering plants in your garden?

I live in an apartment complex where we need to buy tankers of water. The money for that is shared by all the owners of the flats. We also have a Water Treatment plant which treats the water that goes out from our homes (down the drain) and the treated water is used for cleaning cars and watering the plants in the common areas.

The township that I am in is set up in a way that we just pay the water bill once a year. And it is incorporated in the property tax that we pay every July. We've been here for more than 6 years, and I've noticed that the water portion of our tax goes up every year.
That is even if we try to conserve water as best as we could.

My average water bill during the winter is somewhere around 35 dollars a month. During the summer it skyrockets to about 130 dollars a month. I guess I take less showers in the winter. No. I use water more in the summer because i water the garden and wash cars.

I use less water than I used to due to installing a water tank last year, but my water bill is larger than ever before! This is a common theme all over the region at the moment as the water has become privatised in the last year, which has pumped up the cost about 20%! There have been protests, petition websites started and it is mentioned on the radio daily it seems. Other utilities have also risen dramatically in recent years as well. It is time to go totally self sufficient I believe. These crooks are ripping us off!

I think we use quite a lot of water especially in the summer. We use water on washing clothes, running the dish washer, shower etc inside the house plus we use the water outside a lot more in the summer like watering the grass and the garden everyday, wash the car like you said, we have a pond so we just fill the pond with water to flush away the water that is in it... yeah... water bill is expensive...

Hello. I am sad that I am hearing all this bad news about the bills. I hate bills. But we can't live without this supplies.
I am using a lot of water and I admit that I could use a little less. But I like to wash my car in front of my house with water and not to take it to a service or an auto washing.
I also use a lot of water in house because I have three baths. We are six people in the house and we are using a lot of water when you think that we must make a shower every day, each of us.

I use about the same amount of water each month and last month when I got the bill it was for $75.00 and then when I got the one for $25.00 and I talked to my neighbors and they said they had a high bill also I think they just charge you what they want to.

Hi. maximax. We rent our mobile monthly. So, my water is included into my rent. Our hot water runs through our electric bill. I wash dishes at least once a day. And we all take showers and baths. We have a dishwasher, but we don't use it. It always stays off. Actually my husband has disconnected the switch by the power box so that the kids can't turn it on. We don't have a washing machine and a dryer yet, but we are planning on getting one very soon. We don't water plants or wash our car. We don't have a car just yet,, but we will very soon. But our electric bill has been high quite a few times here. It is all because of the heat not shutting off properly. This bill has been around, $400.00 a month or less, say $200.00. We are not used to high electric bills. We are so used to paying, up to $150.00 for our electric bill every month. I do believe that the water company is charging its customers more. They claim that they are just using too much of water, but this is not always the case here. I hope that things get better for you. I know that I am really trying to limit my usage of the utilities too. Sometimes, it is just hard to, especially when a person has children.

Well i do live in hostel where i need to pay my all bills. As i am a student so i can't afford much money for my bills. That's why i don't use much water. I always try myself to don't waste water. As it's a bad habit also. So my parents always tell me that we should not waste anything. I don't have any car or garden so don't use water outside home.
Good day!

hi maximax8,
Water and electricity bills in my country is not as high as yours.
My monthly water bills is RM5, and electricity is about RM45-50.
This could be we do not have 4 seasons in Malaysia.
But water and electricity is expected to rise in years to come.

I use not much water in my daily routine. Even I don't drink much water daily in winter I only drink one glass in all day. In summers I drink only 3-4 glasses a day. I don't wash my car in my house I take my car to a service station for washing it.
