Always late

I'm a very punctuational person, I hate being late for anything.
I can probably count on both of my hands how many times in my work history I've been late not due to my own fault but because the bus was late.,which brings me to my discussion.
I have this bus driver who is late everyday about 10 to 15 minutes and therefor I miss my connection to my other bus and have to wait another half an hour.Luckily it's going home not to work that I have this driver.
I can see being late every once in a while due to traffic or accidents but every day?
Do you have a problem with someone always being late which messes up your plans?

In the case of your bus being late, you have no control over. The only thing you have control over is that you leave early enough that you aren't late yourself, for work.
When it comes to being late for some things, I don't think it is acceptable. One of my sisters was always late for all family functions. She was always late for about 25 years. But then one day she finally realized that being late was being rude because she was holding ever body up and that was just not nice.
I think that when people are late - meeting me - I think they don't have enough respect for me to be on time. I am always on time unless there are unforseen circumstances. But to be late all of the time is just disrespectful to the other people.
Have a good day, your friend Chris

I never have this experience before.
All of the while, I do drive to work, to resolve my personal matters and so on.
It is very hard for me to go by public transport.
Certain of the areas I do have to visit will be a remote area.
It is not wise to go by public transport.
If I can travel by public transport, I can save a lot of cost for maintaining my car.
Unluckily, I don't have this chance.

Does this driver run the route at the same time every day? I wonder if there is a way you can contact the transit company and let them know that it is a problem and see if they can either get a different driver or take some kind of action against this guy. I would be very frustrated if this happened day after day. I hope things improve for you. Have a great weekend!

If he runs the route at the same time every day, would you be able to get there at a different time so that maybe you could make the connection by catching a different driver?

I have never called on a driver but others do it all the time but the bus company doesn't do much about it.
I think they don't even really talk to them.

Hi missy,
If this happens next time console yourself saying -"better late than never". Both you and your boss would understand the limitation of human effort.

I hate being late, but lately I'm kind of always late. I know it's not very good if you're always late, but somehow sometimes it's my fault and sometimes it's traffic, but at least I try to not to be late, tho it's not very successful most of the time.

It's even harder if you have to relieve your co-worker and they waiting for you so they can go home.

you got that one right. being late at work and too often too can have serious consequences, so it's better if you try hard to be on time rather than being late.

I have my husband for one… and he’s someone I cant replace (LOL), neither can I change him. As of nature, he’s very slow (he says methodical) in all his ways… just gets my goat to see me going about all his work in ‘slow motion’… however, I have to admit that he’s more thorough than me. Nevertheless, its really very very irritating when I’m waiting for him on the road, and he’s invariably late… been like this for the past 16 yrs!!!

There are people in my life who do this to me, all the time, and I handle them two ways, depending on what mood I'm in.
First way - I tell them dinner's at 5 PM when I mean 6 PM, so if they are an hour late, they're still on time.
Second way, I tell them that our 5 PM dinner is going to be at 5 PM, and when I can see that they are going to make me late, I leave without them.

I feel that if I experienced a bus always being late and causing diffictulties for me, I would quickly be in touch with the bus company and tell them that it is not acceptable. I always find that for the most part, buses where we live in the UK run to excellent time. Of course sometimes there could be an accident that slows things down on route, and then that would be forgiveable. _Derek

I manage a team of agents in the office and one of the things that I hate are agents coming in late more than 5 times a month. I did my best to give them advice and even issue necessary warnings to improve, but some are just really that way and never shapes up. When I was still an agent, I don't have that kind of record, I always arrive at work an hour before my scheduled shift so that I can set up anything I needed to start my job.

I often meet someone like that. I do not understand it too. I got it from my father who hates to be late. But now I have a two year old who always messes up my plans so now I try not to fix up any plans because I get all stressed up because she is making me late.

O yes I cannot resist suggesting that you make the most of your time while waiting for that driver. How about learning another language?

Hi hafiz,
If you regularly get late fr your office, you can not show the excuse everyday. Ask your boss to settle with a flat nearby your office.
Just last month. I had to reach my college in time because I had invigilation duty. I drove my car at 110/120 KM phr. I know this is risky.

I hate being late here at work i am usually 15 minutes early. but lately i am way earlier since we leave far we make it a point to leave early so as to avoid being late.
I have not yet any experience of some other person making me late..but i hope no one will! oh yeah maybe my husband at times, heheh he is a bit slow in the morningbut happens very seldom.

It happens sometimes, due to traffic,or road accidents that caused delays.
I always checked on days where heavy traffic happens.
I've observed that Friday Nights is the most heavily traffic days of the week,so,when it is Friday,i go to work an hour early than my usual routine to avoid heavy traffic and of course,to avoid being late.
I was never been late for going to work, coz i always go to work an hour before my shift starts.
But like i wrote,it was late with some events, meetings or occasions due to some unexpected circumstances.(which can not be avoided)
And,yes,it also happen sometimes that, the cause of delay is due to someone else's fault.
Have a great day

Leaving early is always better. I like getting to work before my time so you can relax a little and maybe grab some coffee or something to eat before getting started.

I am also a person who likes to be on time for everything. i would rather arrive an hour early than to be five minutes late. Perhaps i am worried about what people will say at my late arrival that brings this on. My late husband was exactly the opposite. he didnt care about being on time at all. That stressed me out more times than I care to remember!

I really don't have to worry about being late because I work on a flexy schedule.
I am at a level right now where I don't have to time in for work.
Although, we are being monitored as to the number of hours we are coming in for work, as long as you delivered the required 8 hours there really wouldn't be much of a problem.
I am really quite one of the earliest persons to arrive at my office right now. My husband doesn't want to be late for work, otherwise he might get a memo if he has consumed 30 minutes of tardiness for the month.

I am proud to say that in the office i amone of the a perfect awardees(no lates, no unauthorized absences, no undertime) for the past seven months. For us perfect awardees, we receive a monetary incentive for the month that we were determined to be such.
In addition to that incentive, if we were able to have a straight quarter perfect award, we will be given another monetary incentive, double the monthly incentive.
Isn't it great to have no lates?

That's a great thing to do for employees.
I bet more people would try to be on time more if they would get rewarded something.

I have this problem..and it bothers me soooo bad! well, I am never late to start work..if I am my boss always says samething or call me attention. what is funny is that she is always late.. she has to come home (i am a nanny so i work in her house) 10 20 minutes late..every single day! it drives me crazy...really really..she knows that she has to be at home and that time but she doesn't care...se comes any time she thinks is better for her!
it is also sad because if fell that she does not respect me! well, too bad for me :(
