i just want to take my thinking away from the earthquake and tsunami so i ask a question about music. well i was a teen and the hit song was baby by justine bieber har har har... no its a joke. i was a teen during the 80's and for me it was the best era of music. well thats only my opinion i know you have your own. the best hit was boys dont cry by the cure and somebody by the depeche mode. until now i still listen to 80's music. makes me feel young. my wife and i are at the same generation and she loves cyndi lauper so much... that until now she loves to listen to her.

i remember my grand papa listens to music from the 40's and 50's. guess you are at the same era. i remembered my cousins gets bored when our grand papa starts listening to his music. but i want to lie down and relax. music from the past makes you relax. not like the music of today that sounds like they want to kill people or undress you on the spot. thanks a lot for the response.

I'm still a teen, and the trend changes rather quickly every 3-4months, I wonder if anyone my age still remembers Jesse McCartney or Aaron Carter..
But right now, international groups and bands are rising. :]
Including one of my favorite groups known as Big Bang, which is a Korean pop group whose popularly continues to rise quickly... their most famous song would have to be haru haru. [translation~ Day by Day]

I remember Aaron Carter, Jesse McCartney, the Backstreet Boys, N-Sync and a lot of other groups from the late 90's and early 2000's, even though I wasn't a teenager then. I agree with you that the trends in songs change rather quickly.
As far as the international music scene goes, I tend to listen to a lot of Spanish/Latin Rock and Pop, such as Shakira, El Canto del Loco and many others. Shakira is really popular in the Hispanic world right now, and I think she will be for a while to come.

Cyndi Lauper and Madonna were big in my teens. I lisetened at harder stuff too though..lol...I liked Ozzy, Ratt, Poison... I listened to softer stuff too though. I am a bit varied in my music tastes. Prince's When Doves cry was big too. I can never choose a favorite song.

spice girls has good music, they wont be a hit if they are not good. but sometimes fame gets into a person's head and that starts a fight and disband. my wife still listens to their music and even dance to their songs when doing exercise. it brings back a lot of memories plus it makes us feel young. thanks a lot for the response.

When I was a teenager, the most popular songs are from Britney Spears, Backstreet boys, West life and other boy bands. I can still remember the song Bye Bye Bye hitting that charts and Oops I did it again. Whenever I hear these songs, it gives me flashback on my teenage years.

Well seeing as I'm a teenager right now, I think that some of the most popular music is performed by Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Eminem and other artists in the mainstream genre. While I do enjoy listening to this music with my friends, I also have a feeling that it won't be so popular 30 years from now, unlike 80's music which is still popular today. I believe the quality and originality of mainstream music has been taking a downward trend for a long time.
