My first name is hyphenated. Because programmers for database are lazy in programming I constantly get error messages about using an illegal character when I fill in my name on a form. This is driving me nuts! I know there are others with the same problem. I just don't how to get programmers to add the hyphen to the first name field. They seem to have no problem with the last name field!

Hi jody451r and a warm welcome to you to myLot!
I can only imagine that if the programs are not re-writable that perhaps just placing the first letter of your first name be sufficient.
I know it would be ideal if you had your full hyphenated name but if the programs cannot be re-scripted there really aren't many options.
You can also use the first part of your name, and I know you will still be upset but really not a whole lot a programmer can do to re-cater it.
Best of luck and don't worry too much about it. You know you are you and that is really all that matter.
Best of luck and have a great time with myLot!
