You know it's a great summertime treat: cold, sweet, and delicious. But did you know that: * Americans are the ice-cream-eating-est people in the world. In 1994, each person in the United States consumed 16.1 pounds of the sweet stuff. Australians came second. * Vanilla is the most popular flavor. One out of 4 ice creams sold is vanilla. My personal favorite, I love vanilla. * One of the major ingredients in ice cream is air. In fact, 10 to 25 percent air is desirable. The ice cream mix must be beaten as it freezes to incorporate air. Without it, ice cream would be rock solid and unscoopable. So is it possible ice cream can make you gassy? lol * In World War II, it was reported that US airmen put cans of ice cream mix in the rear gunner's compartments of B-29s.
