She Lived A Great Life!

A woman who in my adult life I have come to love as grandma is now resting in peace. Grandma was 95 years old and outlived every single family member has now gone to rest in eternal life. She had a stroke Saturday which left her on life support, with only a 1/4 of her brain stem alive.
Not having a mother of my own this is very sad for me and once again, I dreamed about my teeth 5 days prior to her death. Ever since I was a teenager I have had these off and on dreams that my teeth completely fall out, like dentures to the point that during the dream I am in so much pain and I tell myself during the dream this is only a dream and I do not want to wake up because someone will die. Coincidental or not it has never failed each and every time for years.
Grandma interpreted this dream for me years ago telling me that when I dream about falling teeth that someone I love will die and because it has never failed this time around I was truly in pain and this time it was a bit different where my teeth literally grind off like sand. I woke up with scratches surrounding my lips, which I never did that before. In the dream someone who I could not tell who this woman was was saying do not worry so much this time!
I am stuck on the this time and wondering: What did that mean? Grandma was released from life support and is now resting in eternal life.
Have you had any re-occurring dreams like this relating to a loved one? Reason is that each time I have dreamed about my falling teeth, some I love dies.

I am sorry for your loss, but as you pointed here, she had had a great life. So, you should not mourn her, but be happy for her and hope that you will had a great life just as she had.
The tooth falling dream also has the same significant in Indonesia. While cutting heir means the owner of the hair will get sick. Well, there are books to tell you more about dreams, but often they are scared me so I just left them alone. Sometimes ignorance is best.

Hi jennyze
Yes indeed she was such a loving, wonderful and caring woman who lived so many years. She would not want us to be sad, although we will miss her dearly.
Yeah once I get over the hardest part of mourning I try not to research and or learn further. I would be afraid of awakening evil. *scary & chuckles*

Our teeth represent the way we get sustenance, i.e. by eating, so losing them means you are in fear of losing someone (or something) that sustains you.

Hi sswallace21
Thanks so much for the condolences and I am glad you do not have recurring dreams this way because it has been quite scaring for me and never fails in the same manner.

Hi. Sorry about your loss, but are you sure the deaths weren't expected in some way? Dreaming of losing your teeth is VERY common and signifies insecurity and anxiety (in my family's case, about an upcoming event. Two of my teens get these dreams in the approach to an exam or interview.) In other words, your grandma, as you say, outlived every other family member, so it might have been you saw her suddenly looking very tired and old - your brain did the rest.
I have it the other way - my teeth are crumbling away in real life, but in dreams I have perfect gnashers.

Hi jazzsue58
Thank you for the condolences! It could be possible although I have been having this same dream for so many years and not all the people who have passed shortly after were elders. It has ranged from healthy children to adults.
She lives a wonderful life and she is at peace and rest. I feel very blessed to have share her life and am glad she did not suffer in anyway.
The insecurities could be possible as well because I do have issues in life. I am sorry to hear about your teeth and hope you are not in pain. Wonder if your perfect teeth signifies that you will be prosperous.
Odd how we dream at times. Thanks so much for responding.

Hi HWG, my heartfelt condolences to you.
That is surprising, about the dream. Not because you had a dream and it came true as interpreted, but because we have a similar sort of interpretation in my culture too!!
Just slightly different. I don't think there is pain involved in the dream, and I think it is just one tooth falling out. I have heard it come true, but never had the dream myself.

Hi zralte
Thank you for the condolences! I will deeply miss my grandma and will keep her memory alive with me always.
I have noticed a great many cultural areas between your country and ours. So to speak if we look deep they probably have many more then we will perhaps know.
This has been really bad for me for many years. Sometimes too repetitive and then it may take years. Then all of sudden it happens and without a hitch a loved one of mine passes.
Very scary. Thesids interrupted that the grinding signify sand and that a really true loved one of mine was returning back to earth's soil. Wow I have learned today that somethings at time when bizarre sounding really make sense.

Just another proof that we all come from the same place....wayyyyy back in the beginning, I think. lol
Thesids has the good explanation for the grinding sand.
My neighbor, when I was a kid, had that dream. He woke up in the morning and told his family about his dream of his teeth falling out. The next hour, they were told that the grandfather passed away. There are lots of things like that.
I agree, when something sounds really weird and bizarre, someone explained how things can be connected, and it all seems to make sense.
Hugs and kisses.

Prayers and condolences....it's really hard to loose someone so dear to you, you'll surely miss her i know...I also do believe in this "falling teeth" beliefs and when I do dreamed of one, what i will do is tell no one and bite on wooden things, my old folks says that by doing so, no one will be affected by the curse....There's no harm in practicing such beliefs, right? For some its weird but everybody has the right to express their own opinion, we can't do nothing about it.

Hi whengcat
Thank you kindly for the condolences! Someone else also responded by saying knock on wood but surely you do make sense it is like why talk about it forward and biting hard on wood would be like Good Luck!
Wow never thought about it so I am going to say a prayer if at anytime again I have this long ongoing dream and immediately do like you say.
Thanks for that and thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi GShivsk
Thank you for stopping by my discussion. Oh gosh I don't ever really want to have premonitions in life. I don't want to know exactly what comes in the future. I like for life to happen as it comes and deal with anything as it comes. I would be way too afraid to be able to predict.
I try as much as I can to simply ignore these types of dreams but for some reason they do follow me in life. I have improved in coping with them because when they do happen I sort of take them in stride now and hope for the best.
My grandma's passing was quite sad because although she was 95 years old, she was a very healthy woman and it occurred out of no where. She is resting in peace and maybe, just maybe this may have broken the cycle of these crazy type dreams.

My sweet sis!
I feel the hugs, so warm and sweet! This has been quite a journey for me when they happen it is so bizarre. But I am at peace, she was such a wonderful woman, closets to a saint that I have ever met.
Poor Roxy, she has to be uncomfortable, hopefully those grand nieces and nephews will pop out soon. Gosh how glorious will that be. Yes if nothing I hope all goes well after the vet visit. I hope Gissi is making sure Roxy is comfy and I am sure he will be such a proud poppa. What a guy he is, to have been so sick to being a daddy. What a blessing, we will talk soon.

I have never had anything like that happen. It must be quite traumatic for you now you are aware of the implications of such a dream. I do believe that these sort of things can happen although I don't know how it works.
A friend told me a story once about a family gathering. There party was held by the mother of a newly married couple just home from the honeymoon. The husband and an aunt were teasing each other and the young man jokingly said she will be punished for being so cheeky and will probably die tonight. She did. She was in the shower and suffered a fatal heart attack. How weird was that? Imagine how he felt after saying what he did in front of the whole family.

Hi MsTickle
Wow yes that has to be weird and scary. I do remember once when a certain loved one was sort of taking life for granted. He was being reprimanded by his mother because a dear older man would help each time he got into trouble. He said to his mother the older man is old and I being 19 in no way will die before him.
As life would have it a few days later the young 19 year old was killed! Life surely works out in so many crazy unexplainable ways.

so sorry for your loss. i do have a lady like this id hate to loose. I have never had those dreams although my grand dad did. he would dream hed lost his hat. and even in the dream he knew hed need to find it or someone would die. it never failed. i on the other hand have had dreams of birth the other side of the coin. when i first got married, i had a dream of a little dark baby boy, looking quite native american. a few mths later i found i was pregnant and when i had him. thats how he looked. then i had a dream about a girl that looked like me, only she was my daughter. this was before i had my youngest daughter and she did look just like me. then, before she was pregnant with her 3rd, it had been 9yrs. and she said she wouldnt have another but i told her she would and just what hed look like. lol. i was right then to. so if i dream you have a kid that looks a certain way, you will have that. lol.

Thanks for the condolences, I am quite sadden but at the same time a bit happy she is resting now and will keep her in my heart forever. Interesting about the hat. Wow he had to really amazed and afraid at times. When it first started happening people use to kid me that I was killing people. It was pretty scary at first and then with the years I have been able to really say during the dream it is only a dream but I someone will die. *scary*
Wow the children dreams you have, okay so please make you dream I have one so that it does not happen, lol.. Would not want to start over, lol

Dear Hardworkinggurl, I feel so aware of you. I imagine how confused you are feeling, and how confused may you feel from now on, til you begin your daily routine without your grandma. I had a recurrent dream, I dreamt when I was 6-9 that my father was a wolf, and he finally hurted me when he cheated my mother 19 years later, but this another tale by now. I just want you to say that you were so blessed having a 95 year old Grandmother! She might be in heaven right know. But you, that have stayed on Earth, you most realize that you had been blessed with your Grandma.
I never met my Grandmothers, they weren´t already in Earth when I was bornt. I ever wondered one who cared for me, as I watched my friends Grandmas. You´ll have her forever in your heart. I wish that She&God relieve you from your pain.
Blessings!... Dainy

Dear Dainy
Such beautiful and lovely words. Yes I especially feel blessed because she is not my biological grandmother and having not been raised by my own parents she was like a blessing when I was an adult. I will absolutely keep her in my heart for ever and do know she will be waiting for me in our kingdom some day.
I feel very blessed to have shared a part of her life and although very sad I know she wants us all to be content and happy with having had her in our lives.
Thanks so much for your wonderful words.

oh dear I am really sorry for your loss and can understand your dream and its connection. I do not have such nightmares but I do have dreams of my late grandfather (I had a discussion too on this and you had mentioned your views). These dreams still keep coming back.
This time as it was about some one who was so very close to you and mattered much to you, I think the grinding of the teeth as sand thing happened.

Oh My G, you know I have been trying to distinguish why the sand and never thought about that. Oh my goodness, thank you it does make sense! It is really odd and actually for the first time I thought this time it would not happen then I get the bad news and I was so sad. I don't know why I do get this repeated dream. But I have learn to accept that it is all a part of life and what a wonderful life this woman had.
She was very poor but so enriched with love. Every single person that has ever met her knows she was a very wonderful and blessed woman. I know someday I will see her again and until then I will keep her yet closer to my heart.

I am sorry for your loss. I will pray to God that her soul may rest in peace. I have not had such types of recurring dreams in my life. I used to have dreams but I am unable to remember them when I woke up. I can recall in the morning that I had a dream and that was horrific but then I have no recollection of the dream itself. Dreams have a message hidden in them and therefore it is said that they indicate future. I also think that dreams comes when we think a lot about someone or something. I hope you will recover from your loss very soon. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your loss my friend, and sounds like she was truly a wonderful person to have known. As for having reacuring dreams like this, I used to dream about a house I grew up for many yrs. and or about falling with never hitting bottom but jump when I am sleeping as well. Never have been able to figure out a reason for these dreams but know that they have subsided a little for now as well.

I would agree that you were blessed. It sounds like she considered you to be a part of her family. Did her kids and grandkids and great grandkids also consider you family or was it just her that did? Since she had your pictures up there it seems like maybe they did. I'm sure that you will make her proud!

Hi daeckardt
Thank you so much for stopping by with your lovely words. I will miss her dearly but I feel very blessed for having had her in my life.
I was not raised with a biological grandma or mother and this woman in my teen years mentally adopted me and later mentally adopted my children. She had such a sweet and wonderful personality. Her house is completely covered with all her natural born children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-children photos. But she was so loving and sweet that my children and my photos were in clear view for all to know that we were so loved by her.
I will miss her dearly but I do accept that she was allowed 95 wonderfully and humble years. We have all learned a great deal from her and will continue to make her proud of her teaching.

I'm sorry to hear about Grandma, but like you said, it sounds like she had a very filled life and it was time for her to move on. It is never easy to lose someone that we love, but then you can eventually come to think of it as someone else being able to watch over you from above.
That said, I've never had any kind of recurring dreams that occur when someone that I love is about to pass away, but I certainly have lost a lot of close people in my life.

First off, I know this is a bit late, but sorry for your loss. To reach 95 years old must have been a testament of a great life. Although she was a witness to all the heartaches, I bet she was also front and center for all the triumphs of her family. May she rest in peace.
No, I can't say I have a recurring meaning that means something in the real world.

Hi bounce58
You know it is never too late to stop by a friend
Thank you so much for the condolences. Indeed she lived a great life. She witnessed first hand the many coming and goings in life. She was a fine exemplary, one tried until her last breath to make sure anyone who knew her was dearly and humbly loved. 95, gee wonder if I will make it, but then I don't live as humble as she perhaps wanted me too.
Life as we know it is what we make out of it and she indeed cherish every last second. Thanks bounce for stopping by.
