Anti virus come in different form and security..for me there are only two who in my opinion pass my qualification first the Avira, all you need to do is always keep it up to date and you have a secured system..it blocks most of the known threats as well as the unknown..and it is easy to install and update..second the Kaspersky internet security 2011,.Because like most other anti virus it can really protect you from viruses who wants to go in your system plus the security of all your email and important document in your mailbox..and so with this two anti virus i don't need to worry of any virus that would like to penetrate in my system..but always remember to keep your anti virus up to date for it is where you have the real time protection

Well Iam sorry to say but that avira antivirus is worst for me because when i installed it on my computer it says virus found and the most funny part is virus found is avira.exe(own)..so when i pressed clean button then it deleted that file and i needed to format the computer for that...

Well asrararmar your info is really interesting. It shows how much avira anti-virus is clear hearted, wherever u find virus, delete it even if it is your own program.

well i had almost used the all antiviruses
For ex:Kaspersky,Bit defender,Norton,Eset,Mcafee,Avast,AVG,Avira,F-Secure,Panda,Quick Heal,Vipre,Trend Micro,G-Data and also various free anti viruses which are extremely good than many paid antiviruses..So i will rank them below as per their Protection and Performance
1.Kaspersky-Oh what to say about this antivirus it is great it can clean any virus..its protection against virus is also awesome and it doent slow down your computer which is good but it is little costlier..
2.Bit Defender-Greatest and Brilliant antivirus i have ever used..its technology of cleaning and detecting the viruses are wonderful,no virus can escape from their engine but the thing it slows down your computer little bit
3.Norton-This is also one of the best antivirus it has various types of protection and recommended to newbies becuse of its simple and ease of use and the problem is Norton will eat your computer performance but protection is very very strong..
4-Eset/Avast/Mcafee/AVG-these antiviruses has the decent protection to secure your computer and also it wont slow down your computer which is great..
other than these above mentioned there is no paid antivirus on which i can depend...

NOTE:
Iam Currently Using Free Antivirus Which is Lot Better than Many Paid Avtiviruses and the name of antivirus is
*****COMODO INTERNET SECURITY*****
The Antivirus has almost all the protections email protection,Anti-Phishing and all others which paid antiviruses had..i have installed this before two and a half months and well my computer till now is in good condition..never struck, never slows down...Sometimes iam thinking that why the company is issuing this antivirus for free of cost..

WELL I WILL SUGGEST QUICK HEAL ANTIVIRUS.There are somew features of it which i found missing in all the rest of the antivirus like native boot scan, emergency disk, dna scanning, scanning even closed archives.. etc.
I have used many other and have found that after quick heal i would suggest kaspersky. It is also good but do not try norton, it slows pc.

Hello whitestich
Out of all Microsoft security is the best, i had tried most of the free versions, semi free versions, some of them seem to be virus themselves!!!
Thanks for sharing

Personally I use linux so no need to install antivirus. I am assuming that you are using windows. The best antivirus for windows is Kaspersky. I can guarantee to you that it is the best. why? Its so powerful that even the programs you usually use will be detected as virus. Seriously. Its a bit annoying but powerful. Try ubuntu. You will not regret it.

in my opinion there isn't the best anti-virus properly but good programs you cna use to protect your pc...so in many cases the major anti-virus suites are always the same the real secret is to stay up-to-date your virus datebase and think before downloading or visitng some websites that they can countain risks!!As regards brands i can say many as avg, kaspersky, mcafee, avast etc...personally i don't like norton suites because they normally contains so much bugs and so i never trusted in them..

If you want to install an anti-virus, you should consider first what kind of user you are and what are the websites you visit. If you are a kind that visits just any website in the WWW then I recommend to install AVIRA+AVG. AVIRA and AVG are compatible. so you can install them and have them work at the same time. Just DL free editions. or if you want premium or Licensed AntiVirus, just check it on youtube I found licenses their but its piracy, you know...
I recommend this Antivirus because this are friendly to your files. It doesnt delete carelessly just like KASPERSKY.

the best antivirus according to me is kaspersky paid it does not have a free version so i don't use it
i am using avast antivirus for the past 2 years with no much problem till now
its the best free antivirus available
it has a boot time scan which is very useful because some virus start working after the computer get start and avast scan our pc during the boot time so before the virus comes into action avast will delete those from your pc
i am using avast with free zone alarm firewall instead of windows firewall both are free and very good

I'M using Mc Afee Security Center, because it's bonus from Dell distributor Indonesian, I think you should try this one because as long as I wear is not too burdensome on a system even thought I turn on Real Time Scanning feature.

Trust me... I have tried MANY different anti virus programs through the years and if you want a free but reliable one then you can always fall back on and trust AVG. It is simple and easy to work with and it has never let me down. So yeah if you need a really good one just stick with that and it will always work for you. They have a paid upgraded option but is not really needed as the free works just as well. Happy Mylotting!

I used Kasperky for a long time without any major issues. Now, for an unknown reason it stopped working at all, so switched to AVG 2011. My laptop is running perfectly and I don't experience annoying alerts from my antivirus.
