I thought the entertainment would be a waste of money...

baby - My baby in the bouncer!

I am thinking about the entertainment for the babies like the bouncer. When I was doing the register at babiserus, I was supried to see all those equiment that the babies can have these days. I think I only got a walker back when I was a baby. I didn't think about buying more than a walker for my baby but I ended up now having the bouncer, bouncing chair, the swing and the walker so far. And I'm glad that I have them now, it is helpful when the baby is being cranky and you can put him in one of them to play and switch it when he gets bored! Besides, it does help them to learn with the colors andthe different texture of all the attachments. I think the bouncing chair is the best one so far, he likes to kick his feet like crazy and it bounces when he does that; I don't have to worry about him being seated in it for too long; he takes naps in it; I can put him right next to me. The bouncer is the second but he can't sit in it for too long yet, he is only 6 months old. And he outgrew the swing back when he was 3 months old.

My younger daughter grew up in her little bouncer. We bought the Fisher Price Bouncer when my elder daughter was born. She didn't like it very much. When the younger one was born, she loved it. She naps in it and pretty much spend her whole day in it. She used it until she could not fit in there anymore. No one can tell me that that bouncer was a waste of money. However, there are few things that we bought or received as presents that they don't like at all. One of them is the door frame bouncer. I recently bought a swing for them and it is right now in the middle of the house as it is now too sunny and hot outside.

They still use swing? Aren't they both over 1 year old?

Sorry, I typed up my comment with the pictures many many times this morning...for some reason, I could not post it, and in between loading up the page, my laptop crashed....That happened like 3/4 times. Now, my laptop has gone to the repair shop along with my memory card which has the picture I want to post. Anyway...yes, the younger one is 20 months old, almost two. The swing I mean is the Toddler Swing. This is what I bought for them (blue colour, I'd have preferred Red, but whatever) http://cgi.ebay.in/Ok-Play-Toddler-Swing-Kids-Activity-Play-Toy-/360346627722?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item53e6552e8a#ht_2262wt_905 I would have liked to buy Fisher Price, but that item is not available from Fisher Price India.

The hardest part of all the entertainment they have for babies is that is all pretty big and pretty soon you are out of room it seems. Until they get a little older all toys are so big. My daughter is three almost 4 now and I feel like that I have finally reclaimed my livingroom from all the big toys. She had the bouncy seat and loved that the most. But as she got bigger her favorite thing was just to be on the floor! Go figure. She has the bouncer as well and liked it. She used to nap in the swing when she was small so I could have her close to me by the couch and I would nap too. They also have a bumbo seat for older babies that are learning to sit my daughter loved that as well. They also make a johnny jump up it attaches to a door frame and they can bounce. She like it but it would scare me sometimes how wild she would get. It is just amazing how fast they grow and go on to other things. My daughter keep drawing me letters right now and they are looking pretty good!

Yeah, they're all quite big and take up lots of spaces. I re-positioned the furnture and left a corner for putting his bouncer and walker.

Oh yeah....it's like we are living in ToysRUs. Not just the big toys, small toys strewn everywhere. Any attempt to clean it, well, let's say the cleaning took half an hour, and the clean place lasts about 5 minutes maximum. The play pen, the bouncer, the swing, the writing board, walker.....small chair, you name it. My older daughter is now 3 and half and the younger one is one and half. So I can expect at least another year of toys. Hopefully, by next year end, we should be free of some of the baby toys.

So now you appreciate the money spent on buying these things LOL Yes, such things do look expensive, specially when you see that its for a baby and very soon the baby will outgrow it or break it. However, such play things have their advantages too, as you can see no. also such play things are safe and no way that the baby will fall off, so you can do your own work while keeping an eye on baby from a distance.

Right, I put him in the pack & play, I vacuum; when he is in the bouncer, I do dishes and dinner; when he is in the walker, I go on the internet.

I think you have a point about have different pieces that you can switch the baby to if he is be cranky. The problem is having so many pieces of baby equipment that you need a big space to store them and the baby will grow out of some of them very fast. There is always a way to get some of your money back or to make some money if they were gifts; you could have a yard sale or sell them online such as eBay. You will know when it is time to get rid of them, but cause baby won't want to sit in them any more and they don't entertain him anymore.

i dont think like that since..we live just t live the life not for being as a stone. We must feel relaxed by enjoying all the things that we do in life..not feeling like enjoyment is different from our routine.

I would like to disagree with your title. Because entertainment and misuse are very much different. Misuse is waste of money but entertainment is very much essential for relief of our body and mind. However your matter is a little bit diferent. Yet I prefer entertainment....

Actually, that is all up to you;no one force you to buy them anyway for your baby,is not it?It would be a waste of money for you because they are nonsense for you but for some it could not be a waste of money if they like them and somehow useful to them....

hello ivy, It's fine. If your baby outgrew those things you can still keep those for your next baby . Or you can give to your siblings when they also have their babies,or any of your relatives that might be needing those things someday. I like the bouncing chair...i like watching babies bouncing when kicking their little feet and giggle

What is upsetting is the 'out growing' phenomena. Kids lose interest very fast and these items get collected as junk occupying a large part of the house. But the thought that the child has had a good time though for short periods more than makes up for all the other minus points.

Yea, they do outgrow it quick but they have so much fun in these things and they are good helpers for the mom, at least for me hehe.
