Who watches supernanny?

I absolutely love supernannny. Its definately one of my favourite programs on TV and I think that if more parents actually watched it, there would be far more well behaved kids in the world. Anyway, I remember I read an article a little while back that apparently Jo Frost will be quitting because she is ready to start a family of her own. I'm so happy for her. she really deserves it after all the help she's given to so many families. I'm going to miss Supernanny so much, but yay for Jo! What does everyone else think? do you watch it and has it helped your parenting? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/news/a286047/jo-frost-quitting-supernanny-for-family.html

My children are 17 and 20 (already!) but I still enjoy catching episodes of Supernanny. I am always shocked at how little the parents seem willing to do - they don't want to discipline their kids, they don't want to "be mean," they don't want to "make the kids mad" and other such things. I know parenting is a tough job and it doesn't come with a manual but jeez... it's really no wonder that when Jo gets there, the kids are running the households, not the parents. It's frustrating to watch parents who care so little for their kids that they allow them to behave so badly ... but I'm always impressed by how Jo gets everything in line :)) She's great! Just as an aside, don't you love how Jo's look has evolved with the show? From the bun, glasses and skirt/suit when it started to her more casual look now with her hair down? I think she's terrific :))

I saw one episode recently where she was directing the mother on how to speak to her son and the mother wasn't listening to her. She was actually making excuses to the boy for why they had to take away all the candy in the house (she and her husband had been using candy to bribe their three kids and Jo discovered the kids were sneaking food and running and hiding to eat it). Jo told her to be honest with her son but she kept saying "I don't want him to be mad at me." Finally Jo took her outside and told her "You called me here to help you. You are either going to listen to me or you're going to send me home." The mother finally "got it" and told her she wanted her to stay. Parents need to be parents to their kids... it's doing them a disservice otherwise :(

I really like to watch 'Supernanny' and think that Jo Frost is excellent around all children. She always has hundreds of super ideas for making the children behave well. She also makes the parents sort out any problems with the parenting skills. Even better is a program from America called Nanny 911. It has three British nannies over in the USA doing something similar to Supernanny. I liked the one with the family that had three sets of twins and the dad worked at home. Both of these programs have given me ideas to add to my parenting skills.

I'm not too keen on the Nanny 911, because the nannies seem to be a bit uncaring, and it seems quite contrived. I thought those parents were crazy with 3 sets of twins! You'd think they'd stop after the first 2 sets haha :)

I love watching supernanny to even though my kids are over age. But it is nice to see there is help to get when parents have trouble parenting their kids. Kids of today are more active, are more selfcentred so there are help needed sometimes when you do not know how to handle situations with the kids....I had the book of law to help me....lol

I started liking it, but realized it should be called Super Adult or something. I got tired of the kids always being "blamed" for the parents lack of parenting. The parents let the kids run wild, no discipline, no structure, just wild little animals and then whine and cry that they are uncontrolable and misbehaved. Well...who taught them to be that way? Who let them be that way? Kids learn what they are taught and if you teach them bad habits..that is what they will learn. IF they are taught nothing, then they will figure it out on their own. Either way...it isn't the fault of the kids that they are heathens...it is the fault of the parents. So I stopped watching.

In fairness though, jo does sit down with the parents and tell them where THEY have gone wrong. I dont think I've ever heard her blame the kids for bad behaviour I think we all know that it's shocking parenting that causes kids to be unruly in the first place. Thanks for your response.

I have been a regular viewer of Supernanny and find her to be such a great person. She has so much patience and gets right to the point. Her wonderful contributions will be missed by the so many families. Sorry to hear she is leaving but on the other hand very glad to hear she will have a family of her own. She will no doubt be a really great mother! Thanks for sharing because I did not know otherwise.

I love too. I love it soo much! Well I just realized that now that I have to take care of babies...but even before I love it. It is great for parents and if everybody watch and act like her. The world would be much better and kids never would drive their parents crazy! I think everybody could watch this show. Unfortunately it is not everybody who has time enough to watch.

I love supernanny and like her practical techniques. It re-enforces a lot of things I believe. I don't watch it anymore...don't think they are airing it on any channel in India anymore...and I hardly get time to watch television anyways. If she is starting her family....I'm glad and I know she will do a wonderful job of parenting if she follows her own advice:)

Aww that is sad that the show is ending but that is wonderful that she is starting her own family. She will be the best mother with the most well behaved kids. I have only seen the show a few times but it is awesome. If all parents watched that show and put into effect in their lives the things that she teaches there would be a lot more well behaved kids out there. My kids arent angels but they are pretty good so I'm doing something right. Time outs are frequent in our house.

I love Supernanny. I make a point to watch it every time we are in UK. Unfortunately, we don't get it here in India. I will have to look it up online and see if I can catch it. I think she is great.
