If for some reason you weren't able to fly on a plane which overland or oversea journey from your home country would you like to do? Why? If I had that chance I would go all the way from England to China by train. Now that trains go from London to Paris and Brussels this journey is possible all the way by train. I would go via Russia and Mongolia. How about you? Which journey overland or oversea would you choose? Do you know anyone that is scared of flying by plane?

Well, if we cannot fly by plane here in Australia, we are stuck here, or we have to go by boat to see other places. I have always loved flying ever since I took my first flight at the age of 21. My father is scared of flying. He does not admit it, but he is. He is 60 this year and has never flown at all in his life. My poor mum wants to travel overseas but has always been restricted by my dad and his fear unfortunately. I have been around the world and my sister travels overseas every year, but my parents have never left Australia. We live a 2 hour flight away from my parents, but if they come to visit us, they have to drive, which takes 2 days!

I think taking a train would be an interesting way to travel. I'm in America, and train trips are not all that common. I haven't heard of people taking them that often anyway. That would almost seem like such a historic way to travel, even though I know trains are very modern. I see cargo trains go through my town sometimes and they're older models. I don't know if I've ever even seen a train station or a newer type of train. I live in a small town so I can't speak for the bigger cities around me.

I don't think I'd choose any as I don't care to travel. What can I say? I'm such a homebody! LOL As for knowing anyone that doesn't like to fly? Yes, I know one person. My mom. She's absolutely terrified of flying! LOL My late maternal grandparents chose to go by ship when they came to America. I'm not sure why they chose this, but I think it was because it was the cheapest way to travel at the time. Happy mylotting!

Hiya maxi, Afraid I would choose the Train in preference to the Plane. I am scared to go by Plane now I was not before and I know a lot of People like me too. But I would still get on one if I really had to but not to travel for pleasure. I do not care for the stress of the Airport. My Husband is a very calm and strong nerved Person but it freaked him out so to speak to have to fly from Heathrow Airport and to the one in Bilbao because that is no better. He says it´s not the Plane itself you are flying in it´s all the stressed out People and everyone in a hurry to get who knows where. He did not enjoy flying at all he said the next time the Train it´s a bit slower but less rushed and more pleasurable.

I had always like South East Asian country because of its rapids development and economic successes. Take for Example, Singapore, it was one of the underdeveloped country in the 60s but today it is now one of the hub of industrialization as far as south east asia is concerned. Malaysia and Thailand have also recorded some significant economic development which is also attracting so many visitors from Abroad. To answer your question, I would like to take a train from Thailand ( Bangkok ) to Malaysia ( Kuala Lumpur ) and down to Singapore. I think a train ride across these three country will be quite exciting to me because I have been dreaming about visiting south east asia. In Africa, where I come from the train transport is still been developed by the government after so many years of neglect. I believe in some distance time train service will come become to normalcy and it will be a popular means of movement. thanks

I know I would enjoy a long train ride. How exciting at all that you would see. A ship would also be interesting, but I expect more boring.

Flying seems to be the easiest way but you don't get to see the countryside that way, traveling by train would be fun because it would stop when it needed to and that would allow the passengers to stretch their legs and move around a bit. If it wasn't a long distance I'd like to hike it. I love being outside in the wilderness.

i really like to fly in an aeroplane but long journey like an over night and all will make me tired and also sitting at one place for a long time is painfull. i really enjoy the top view experience from a plane and also when the plane goes above clouds is a plesant experience which we cant get it on the land and it seem to be as a fairyland for me. ofcource if i flew by my place i would wish to land up there and see my people but i dont have to think that as i am with my people now.

From Denmark I would go to St Petersburg in Russia. That would be possible without flying , because I would be able to go to Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia by bus or by train and from Estonia I would go to St Petersburg. I would spend some days in St Petersburg and then I would go to Moscow. I would do some sightseeing there and catch the Trans-Siberian train to Vladivostok. On the way to Vladivostok I would stop a couple of times and explore some of the places between Moscow and Vladivostok.

Dear maximax8, I always wish I can travel by train to see the enchanting natural beauty of European countries. I have not try it. Most of the time when we travel by tour, we went to Eastern and Central Europe by tour bus. Another fun way to travel will be by cruise where we can visit many countries and places when the cruise stop at every port-of-call. Have not done that, hopefully I can experience one soon. I love traveling, it is a fabulous way to see the culture and spectacular architectures in other parts of the world.

Hi, ACtually I prefer travelling by plane rather than by land. It is more faster in a way and I can reach the destination faster. I never travel by train for a long distance.when i was young, I did travel by train back to my grandma's village and it took about 3 hours to reach the village. That was the only experience I have with the train for 3 hours journey. Travelling by plane is very exciting, I like to see the blue sky and cloud and seeing those small houses and cars on the road, that was fun.

A friend of mine went from Norway to Australia with another friend of his that refused to fly. I think they managed with just one short jump with a plane because the boat they had planned to take between some islands in South Asia where down for maintance. My friend flew back with most of the group, the one who didn't like to fly actually got a job on a freighter going to the Gulf (I think) and then took the train from there. I think I'd like to go on the same train journy as you, but I'm not sure I'd go to China. Maybe do the same as my friend and try to go on to Australia :-) If I didn't have that much time I'd drive south to Denmark, take the ferry to Iceland, then when going back stop at the Faroes and Shetland, take another ferry on to Orkney and Scotland and drive down to London with lots of stops on the way. Park somewhere outside London and spend some time with my friends there, then take the tunnel to France and visit my friend in Paris. Maybe go on the Austria and visit all my friends there. Thing is, I'd need a new car! As the one I have would probably stop somewhere in the middle of Iceland ;-)

This sure is a nice proposition to go on a journey without plane over land or sea. I would definitely like to travel from my country to the beautiful place called Switzerland. While I would be traveling the scenic view along the way will help me enjoy the chance that I got to travel through train. Its really quite some distance but still very much enjoyable due to the fact that the destiny is so mesmerizing along with the path that leads to it.
