I finally did it

I make St. Patty's day dinner every year, that's over 50 times and I finally got it right. I cooked the corned beef first, then I removed it and added the veggies. While they were cooking I made the mustard sauce. My cornned beef came out perfect and the veggies were purrrrrfect also. Sauce was just right. Now I think I'll retire since noone really likes corned beef but me.

In our country, there are many ways of cooking corned beef like eating it as is on hot rice, sauteed with garlic, onions, tomatoes or all of them, with cabbage strips, diced potatoes and and mushrooms are but a few variants. We do not celebrate St. Patrick's day so we eat corned beef when we feel like having one . Congratz on your cooking had hope you teach me how to prepare mustard sauce, first time I heard it

Mustard sauce is easy, one part sour cream to 1/2 part mustard of any type.

That is wonderful that you've finally succeeded in making the perfect St. Patrick's Day meal. I don't think that you should retire though, instead, next year you should just invite all of us from mylot that enjoy eating corned beef to come and eat with you. I absolutely love corned beef, but I've never been able to make it as good as I can get it at restaurants so I really don't give it that many attempts anymore.

Good for you! I love corned beef myself, but we usually only have it once or twice a year--always on St. Pat's Day, of course! But what is the mustard sauce? I have never used a sauce; just plain mustard (or spice brown; whatever we have in the house!) Since you are the only one who appreciates the efforts to make the perfect corned beef, I hope you ate it all, too!

Lol, great way to retire, with your corned beef. Good on you! It is so pleasing when our carefully prepared meal works out perfect! Happy belated St. Patty's day. 50 times is a lot so hats off to you. Persistence pays so it is not surprising that you got it right! No doubt there had to be at least one other time, in the 50 times you have prepared the St. Patty's day corned beef meal worked out perfect! Sounds delicious and glad that you enjoyed!

LOL! I love the tone of your post! Your last line caught me offguard and made me laugh :)) Congratulations on achieving the perfect St. Patty's Day meal I love corned beef but it's so expensive here that I can't really afford one big enough for our dinner. My mom used to do the typical corned beef, cabbage and potatoes... I was never crazy about the cabbage but I think I'd be more inclined to enjoy it today than I did as a kid. I hope you got a picture of your meal for posterity...next year let someone else take over

You're right, and congratulations! Once you've achieved perfection it's time to retire gracefully and rest on your laurels. Think about how disappointed you'll be next year if you don't live up to the standards you set for yourself this year! Next year you should go out for St. Patrick's Day dinner and treat yourself.

I love corned beef. And I'm the only person in my house who likes it too. Never heard of mustard sauce for corned beef though.

I cook corned beef about three times during the year. Haven't ever made a mustard sauce though. I make it in the crockpot and don't have to keep checking on it. Add the veggies the last 3 hours as I don't like the cabbage to be drowned and all mushy.

savypat next time you make it I will be right over, lol.. I love corned beef and love veggies too. People today are eating way too fast these days. Seems that instead of getting shopping smart some are actually spending more because of the quick to heat meals. Don't give up because sounds like you have mastered a perfect meal. Bet of you did give up most would wonder why and question why they are not getting it.

I don't eat beef because I am a buddhist. We never underestimate our capability. We must have the confident and strike whatever goal we have. Since you have 50 times of experience in preparing the dinner for the St. Patty's day, I am sure you make the corned beef successfully. Everyone can do it if they really want to. Keep trying and fully perform your talent and capabilities.
