A Guide Violation

Hiya myLotters, Everyone knows that I have one discussion which got deleted recently. As the admin have said, there is also no clear reason or he can't seem to find the reason why it was deleted. But after my appeal, the said discussion of mine is back and up again. Now when I checked back again and made some review of the discussion, I found inappropriate tags. "a guide violation" and "be sad" and even "mylot addiction" is added. Could this be one of the reasons why a discussion be removed? We know that admin will not just delete a reported post without reviewing it. But could a tag be one of the reasons for deletion? Why are there some members trying to put us down by tagging our posts "wrongly"?

Hi neildc I think the tags are important... even a couple of mine did go because of the tags. I wasnt sure but then some discussions from others made me understand that these tags too have a role to play. Unfortunately, what are those tags, is still unclear as I had a few like humor, puzzle but the discussions were just using instances from real life and were not for jokes or puzzle thing

yeah sids, a lot of us here are going nuts with the deletion of our discussions. i know tags play a big role in searching for the topics, etc. but i just know, if this is really the reason, tags can be used to delete posts.

You can request the admin to remove the inappropriate tag. What can I do if someone has tagged my discussion with inappropriate words? Please bring this to myLot's attention by reporting it as abuse. Make sure you give us the tag you feel is inappropriate and we will take care of this immediately. http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq9.aspx#5

I am glad you took the trouble to discuss this with the admin. I do not know who would want to mess around with the tags that way. Keep your chin up you are very honest with yourself and with all of us.

Hi neildc! I hope zay-zay is feeling as adorable as he looks! I wish I knew the answer, but I don't understand the tagging or the admin and I've been here for almost 4 years now! I didn't see your other discussion so will have to look at it. At least they put it back! Maybe Alex will explain?

Hi Opal. yes, Zayzay is even more adorable in person. he's doing very very good. i could have sent PM to Alex about the tagging but I thought it's better to discuss so at least, if he finds it time to explain the thing, more members could learn about it. waiting for Alex...

hello neil, Good thing it's back. I am not sure about tags. But,let's say mylotters put those tags...does admin did not review the contents first before deleting the topic? If that is the case...then,just put "guide violation" as tags to any topic that we want to be deleted...aint' too scary?

that's what i am afraid of dear sister. if we can just tag everybody's discussion with "guide violation", i guess there's no more discussion to read.

I notice that happening recently. That is a discussion being deleted just because someone tag it as 'Guideline Violation', even if it is not. Well, the clear example being your discussion. I think cleaning the site sweep drive is going on at the moment. Alex did mention that he is not the only admin, so it could have been some other admin. Well, it is good that we can appeal. I am glad that your appeal was successful.

No, I do not remove a discussion because of the tags people put in it. If there is an inappropriate tag, I just remove the offending tag. If you see tags in your discussion that are clear examples of abuse, report the discussion and mention in the abuse report submission that you are reporting the tags.

Hi Neildc, Sorry to hear about this and glad it has been resolved but I had a discussion a couple of years ago that didn't violate anything at all but someone had put some really nasty racist tags on it and now I am feeling that that may have been the reason, I usually try to type 5 tags in myself if I remember so that way others cannot add nasty ones. The reason why people do it I just don't know, they seem to get some sort of kick out of it though. Huggles. Ellie :D
@ellie333 (21016)

yes but the fist few tags show rather than all of them if there are some nasty ones put or so I was told back then, it may have changed by now.

hi ellie. if i can remember well, correct me if i am wrong, anyone can put tags on any discussion without even responding to it, the same way with the rating system. more, there is no limit on how many keywords we can submit for each discussion or post.

Who knows what gets into the heads of some people. There are some people who want to make it tough on others. There are still others who have certain ideas that are outlandish and they push them off on our sites. I would ask administration. I wouldn't see where good tagging(or even bad) would be good reason for deleting a discussion.

hi ice. yes, they do that, pulling down people with their bad moves like that, tagging our posts with inappropriate keywords. still wonder if those tags really caused the deletion. well, thank goodness it's back. you missed that post? it could not be seen now in the list of my started discussion so i put it on my profile. the link immediately below the YouTube video will lead you there...

I think that tags do lead to deletion from time to time. We have to be sure to add sensible tags for this reason out of respect for those who have started the discussion and all those others who have already posted on it. Perhaps admin might be able to clear this question up for you, but that has always been my impression that tags might put up red flags which could lead to deletion.

try to search a few times using the search box before starting your discussion. search for keywords that could probably be with your own discussion to be. be careful with your tags too.

Personally I am sure there will never be complete explanations for why all the discussions that are removed from here are removed, and many times even if we did they do not always make sense. I wish when it is a discussion that I might have started and they choose to remove it, they would send the article to me with the reason to help teach me something here for sure.

Hello Neildc, I thought before that when there's an inappropriate tag, only the tag is removed and not the entire discussion? It's either a mistake from a moderator for not looking into post that should have been analyze or who ever made this tag also reported it as a violation. Damn! Trolls or annoying mylotters are getting smarter by the day not to mention looking for a ways to put down a post. They should get a life, i pity them.

hi buddy. i know tags are being used in searching but i still have doubts if these inappropriate tags make discussions being deleted. still, inappropriate tags can only be removed if we report them. i wish there is also ways to check who tags our discussion so we can also report the member who did it.

problem about tags by the way is, everyone can put tags on any discussions even without responding. and it goes the same way with rating the posts.

That had to frustrate you but I'm glad it has been worked out. Thank you for posting this because I have learne something iportant from you and that is to try to be careful when using words. But I also hear that discussions can be deleted if there are any negative ratings too, Is this true? I just started recently so I just trying to learn what to do and not to do.
