Dear Mylotters, Lately, toothache keep strike me and Sometimes it strike me at night time, I feel difficult to get my sleep, but then I am so afraid to visit the dentist to have my teeth check-up. When I was young, I went to dentist with my father and most of my teeth (inside parts) has spoilt and got them mended. So pain. From that time onwards, I told myself, never visit dentist again until the very last minute on emergency cases. Since I still can bear with the pain now,so I just drink some warm water, brush my teeth and the next morning, the pain is gone. I have to be extra careful while eating. I have to use my right side teeth to bite food because if I use the left side teeth, the pain will come again. Anyone have the same experience like me,scared to visit a dentist? Share your thoughts.Thanks...

Hi, Maybe you would like to check out with local pharmacy for any right medicine to cure your toothache problem. So far, I never eat any medicine when my toothache is striking me, I just brush my teeth and have a sleep and hopefully after I wake up,the pain is gone.

Hi, So is your toothache problem is solved? Have you visited the dentist? For me, now I don't feel the pain as long as I don't use my left teeth to bite any food and avoid drinking any cold water. So I am not visiting dentist at this moment

Hi, At least you do have courage to make an appointment to dentist and solve your toothache problem. For me, till now, the pain is gone and I am yet to visit a dentist to get it done. For the time being, I will just stay as it is and wait till the condition is really worse, then only I will make a visit to a dentist.

Hi, Just wondering what make you so scare of doctor in emergency room? Do you have any bad experience with them? For me, I am not scare to visit a doctor, but visiting a dentist is definitely not for me, I am so scared to get my teeth cleaned and pull out. I can stand the pain of injection, but the cleaning part of my teeth ,that is the most painful thing.

Toothache really very annoying, my friend. I hate having toothache much better to have headache than toothache. Because if we have toothache we feel very uncomfortable...

Hi, I would say toothache is more irritating. At least for headache, I just need to lie down and nap for awhile, then it will gone. for toothache, sometimes, I can't even close my eyes as the pain is killing me badly. But now, lucky my toothache has gone and I am yet to visit a dentist to get it done.

sooner or later as you get older, more problems will arise and the pain would be more excruciating, so it is best to get rid of those decaying tooth as early as possible... pain pills would be irrelevant once total decay would be endstage...

Hi, I knew that pain killer won't be the final solution to my toothache, but my phobia to visit a dentist is always there and I don't think I am going to step to the dental clinic unless that is the last hope. I also thought back of my past visiting the dental clnic and get all my back teeth mended, the pain was killing me.

yup.. traumatic as it may be, but clearly your best option is still tooth extraction..lol! one other option is the nerve block which is more expensive.. it is where the nerves causing the pain would be rooted out, otherwise known as root canal..surgically done with anesthesia..

Hi shia. I used to hate going to doctors or clinics or hospitals for that matter. I hated the smell of disinfectant and antiseptic they used. But then, slowly everything changed when I started getting hormonal imbalances and had to visit the gynec. And later, marriage, kid etc. And now I have a lot of other health problems as well which involves keeping in touch with my doctor at least once a month. Fear is the culprit. Don't worry, things will work out. I had a bad tooth too and got it filled. Got all the four wisdom teeth removed and keep coming and going to the dentist for tmj. As time goes, the fear will disappear. Just imagine how nice it would be without all that nagging pain and how it would feel to be with perfect health. So take that small step of visiting the dentist and conquering your fear. All will be well. Dont leave it till it becomes worse. Because some times, it might be too late. Take care.

Hi, Sad to hear that you have to visit a doctor at least once a month...I guess you must have get used to this routine now. I hate to visit a doctor unless it is necessary. Normally when I fall sick, I try to eat home medicine and if within 2 days no recovery sign, then I will visit a doctor. Having a small kid at home, I have to force myself to get well soon or else it will be more problem when the virus is transfer to my son.

You should visit the dentist ,some time the tooth may have a hole in it so that's why it hurt so much.Nut you can take pain tablet for the pain, but the best place to go is the dentist. The last time i have a toothache it was my filling drop out ,and i could not eat for days,Because i was afraid of the dentist. After a few days with pain i made up my mind that i cant take the pain no more,So i went to the dentist an got the tooth out.An form that day i never got a toothache again, but be sure to take a pain tablet so that you can get some sleep. Advil is a good pain medication you should try.

I try to be extra gently while eating and drinking water nowadays. I still refuse to visit a dentist and wait till the very last minute.

I and my son do not like to visit dentist too. I experienced very fierce dentist when I am in primary school. They like to say "Open your mouth wider" when it is already maximum. There onwards, my teeth decay, however,I thanked God for my second sister to recommend me a very gentle and friendly private dentist. Then on, I used to have my yearly dentist check-up. It is truly painful and suffering to have toothache. I experienced it once last year. To make things worse I can't take any pain-killer medication like paracetamol, therefore I have too endure the pain till my visit to the dentist. Sometimes due to the toothache and swollen, the dentist cannot perform the tooth-extraction. Pray for no toothache, take good care of our teeth.

Hi Iriene, I guess most people hate to visit a dentist. and it is not cheap unless you are visiting those government dental clinic, then it is very cheap, but the service is not that good and for certain services, you may need to put your name in waiting list in order to get it done. Last time when I was young, my father brought me to this lady dentist and i found that she is very fierce, everytime i reached there, I always told my dad that I want to see his husband, don't want his wife as she looks more fierce and getting impatient with me all the time. Brushing our teeth twice a day and avoid eating too much sugary food will keep our teeth healthy.

...Hi shia, You can get some Anbesol for temporary pain relief from a toothache. It works well. Not to scare you but according to my doctor a bad tooth could cause you to have a heart attack. So try to get yourself pysched up and go to your dentist. I am the same way, two things I really hate, a dentist appointment and having someone draw blood for a test. Take care. Call for an appointment soon. Cheers.

Hi, Thank you for your response. I never know that toothache is related to heart attack..oh..that is very dangerous. For the time being , I just have to be extra gently to my left teeth and try to eat slowly and never drink cold water,it does help to prevent the toothache to come back.

Dental hygiene doesn't guarantee a person to be safe from toothaches, you have to see a dentist once in a while. There's a lot of people who hates visiting their dentist but it's better that a recurring toothache. Prevention is better than cure as they say. When your tooth aches as if everything that is connected to your head is also aching that's why I hate toothaches.

Hi, I agreed with your words. Be it we brushed our teeth every morning and night time before going to bed, toothache will still come sometimes, It is matter of fact that the teeth is not doing well and kinda fall sick, need an attention. Actually it is advisable to have a tooth check up at least once a year, but I never do it and since my last visit to dentist more than 15 years ago, I never visit a dentist again.

hello there.toothaches should be taken seriously.you might get temporary relief from pain relievers but the pain-relief-pain-relief cycle will continue unless you consult a dentist to have it checked and remedied.here's the fact:tooth problems may contribute to heart conditions such as infective endocarditis.act now my friend before it is too late.dont be weary about the pain produced when a tooth is pulled out by a dentist.they use a medication termed anesthesia that will make the procedure pain-free.

Hi, Taking a pain killer is just temporary remedy for toothache. for the long term remedy is visiting a dentist. I don't like to visit a dentist,I scare of the pain and seeing those equipment that the dentist is going to use, I feel scare and sweating.

You might have an infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics. Pain pills will dull the pain but it is important to get that looked at so it can be treated if needed. Sometimes gum disease or problems with the teeth lead to all kinds of other problems in our bodies. Many diseases can be attributed to not visiting the dentist regularly. I can sympathize with your pain because last year I had a horrible toothache. Once it was pulled I felt so much better!

Hi, I also do think that pulling away the teeth sure will make me feel better,no more toothache again.but thinking of stepping into the dental clinic,my heart is beating so fast and whole body is sweating. The pain of getting my teeth pull is killing me and thats make me stop myself visiting the dentist. My first visit to dentist was more than 15 years ago...so it meant all the while, I never go to dentist.

No i don't scared to go dentist. Right now i don't have any teeth problem but when i was in college then i had problem it was a big hole in my two teeth so i went to dentist and they repaired it after one days i really feel so pain but i took one pain killer and all my pain disappear. So you should go now dentist usually don't hurt and the paid will be less then that you got every night. And every time you can't be careful and if you don't go to dentist right now then later you will feel more pain. And you can gain more with little pain you can bite your food with both sides. Good luck!

I just don't dare to visit a dentist at this moment. When I saw their equipment in the room,I feel sweating all over my body.

having a toothache is the worst thing that i've experience. the killer pain is radiating to the head. i can't sleep nor eat. i can't do a thing. thank God for the dentist. they are the only person who can help. every time i see a dentist, i always thought that it is the end of the world. can't help it. the pain associated with toothache, tooth extraction and the like is just too painful

Hi, Such a good dentist that you have. I remembered well when the dentist cleaned my teeth before she mended them.the pain was killing me and I kept asked her to do it slowly because it was so pain. Getting my teeth pull out, Oh...it never happened to me before and for sure I will be shaking and sweating before my turn is coming.

When I was younger I went to the dentist and actually fell asleep while the dentist was working. So I don't share your fear of dentists, but what I do know is that you will have to vist a dentist sooner or later. I usually go for some fluoride for my teeth. My best advice is to stand up straight, make that call and go to the dentist. They will only do what is best for you. Good luck!
