Dhoni is a good captain. Why?

dhoni is a good captain because he is a cool captain. he has won quite a few series which are very important like the series in austrlia and also the team did good in south africa. he won the t20 world cup. he is a thinking captain and most of his moves were good. i also think that ganguly is a good captain.

Hi Shibham, It's good to see that you have done a lot of homework before initiating this discussion. There is no doubt that "Dhoni" has been lucky throughout his career. For him to be a captain everything changed in India team, Dada was discarded from team India, Dravid was not performing well as a captain, Sehwag was not able to continue his good form etc. So many things helped "Dhoni" to become the captain of Indian team in all three formats of the game...however, the good luck and the time seems to be changing now, it seems that there was a effect of magic in his cricketing career, whatever, he would have thought he got but since last one year, I am observing that that "Good luck" is not working for him. The figures that you have mentioned here are showing the same thing. Now-a-days, it seems that he is taking all the decisions under the pressure of the media and because of that sometimes, these decisions are ridiculous. I am not sure whether he has looked into these figures as you did, otherwise, he would understood the point. He was a good batsman till the time he was not the captain of team India but after that, he has changed his game, that's like trying to change your character (Next to impossible). He should learn from Shahid Afridi, Pakistan is not a very good batting lineup at this time but still Afridi has not changed his batting style, still they are winning matches. Dhoni does not have very good batting technique, his batting is all about power, then I don't know why is he screwing up his career like this? Indian batting lineup is the best in this world at this point of time, there is no need for him to change his batting style, he should leave the sheet anchoring job to sachin, gambhir, Kohli and to some extent on Yuvraj. Let's hope that he realizes it the way we have realized and starts batting like before. He should know that his midas touch in captaincy is vanishing just like Ozone layer in our atmosphere. Let's hope that what happened to Dada and Dravid, will not happen to Dhoni in near future...

Hello Shibham, I don’t have that much knowledge in cricket to evaluate the players and their capability. Once I had interest and watched the same till I heard about the match fixing. Now I won’t waste my precious time for sitting infront of TV to watch cricket. However, I have to admit that, at present the cricket is running in our tv too majority of the time as two cricket lovers are at home. Regarding the topic, Dhoni got fame and money, which is his personal achievement through cricket; he contributed greatly for the team to get success in earlier times so he becomes the captain of the team. Once a good player becomes the captain of the team, he can’t contribute much for the team as a player, this is a bitter truth.

No dout Dhoni is a good captain but some time he makes mistakes in taking decisions.

Yeah Dhoni is a lucky captain you can say that but don't forgot he is a good player. Also his decisions work and bring him glory and victory. Your stats can't proove that he is bad batsman. His captaincy doo is not that bad. It can also be said that he used the player well and take out performance from them. Well good luck to mr dhoni. Let him too lucky to get the worldcup like he got in t20.

Hiya Shibs, Have read all this and the responses from back to front. But I have no way of watching them on the Television here at the moment. I think I was explaining that to kraj the other Day or yesterday. So who is the Best Captain for India then in the sense of winning plenty of Matches and giving a good performance as Captain in the Games that come up? I have read about Dhoni and it does not really say anything except results and more results. He seems to have done okay though but I suppose he will have People for him and against him just like in any other Game.

Captain have a great responsibility for his own team and till now he won maximum match to be a captain and lead india team very well. Doesn't matter that how much he does for himself but he did very well for india cricket team by leading a good team. So i think he fulfills his responsibility so that's why he is a good captain.He don't get hyper so it's good habit.

You can not say only a Dhooni is not a good caption no one is a good caption in India team because the player play a good match when they not the position of caption but when they take position of caption they never played good. But under Dhooni's captionship at least selection of team is good and most of the matches are won even not a trophy but at least they try to reach the trophy. Now we have no option only wait and watch because we can't change this decission then accept my suggestion and see the match and enjoying with India or other team which you like okk byeee

hai cricket viewers dhoni is a good captain definitely because he has more percentage wins from the last calender year. and his ability of scoring runs at the usual times has made him a good captain.
