Should Obama return his Nobel Peace Prize?

The Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to Obama to encourage him to "give peace a chance". So far he has extended the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and joined in on the bombing in Libya.
So, in light of him NOT living up to the hopes and dreams of the Nobel Committee, should Obama return his peace prize (including the huge cash payout)?

Well, he has fired more missiles than any previous Nobel Peace Prize winner. When committee selected Obama as the recipient, they overlooked people who have paid heavy prices in pursuit of peace and human rights and then made a political choice based on their expectations of his globalism, liberalism and all the "hope and change" hype. I don't know if they've ever thought about demanding the prize returned but he is a fail on all counts as far as their expectations are concerned.
While they are at it, they could ask Al Gore to return his, due to his failure to bring about global warming as promised.

Yeah, actually there are a few lefties pissed at him about this. We'll see if they have the guts to follow through on their anger though.

True, considering the scummy list of recipients, it seems he is in company he's comfortable with.

in reality i never understood why obama should win the nobel price for peace considering he did nothing for the peace and world in general..so it would be really strange award in my opinion but now that he had it i think it is quite impossible he will turn back the price because it would admit the fail of his policies so i think it would never happen..

True, it would never happen. Obama has never considered "earning" something to be that important.

I think the cash is gone--he presumably donated it to charity although I can't recall the charity being mentioned. I was shocked that they would award the honor to someone who had done nothing yet to deserve it. I most certainly think he should return it (and Al Gore should, too) until he does something to earn it.

Well, I do know he donated the money, but it would be an empty gesture for him to have to return the prize, sans prize money.

First, the people who gave obama the Nobel prize based on his promised hope and change should step down from their positions. They have cheapened the Nobel prize for ever.
As far as obama, he should give back everything that he and his family have spent in the last two years. He has done nothing good for the country, and certainly has not lived up to the office he was put in.

No, when they gave it to trash like Arafat and hucksters like Gore... that cheapened it. Giving it to Obama only solidified the fact.

He should return it. He did not deserve it and neither did Al Gore. The Peace Prize is supposed to be about accomplishments, not being the first African=American president of the States nor the one who made sure that Americans pay more at the gas pump even though we are entering a period of global cooling. It is getting that the Nobel peace prize is more of a social thing and that the adwarders give it to those who are more on the leftist side then those who really sacrificed to make peace in the world.
I do not know about the money or the charity. It depends on what he gave it to.

Can one even return the Nobel Peace Prize?
Frankly, the Peace Prize was an empty gesture. Everyone knew at the time he received it that he did not deserve it. Even he knew it. The decision was based on some wishy-washy idea of what Obama might bring - and now, hindsight being 20-20, we can see he failed quite spectacularly.
That kind of spoils it for the next Peace Prize winner, but oh well. Clearly even the Nobel committee can get caught up in hype.

The Nobel Peace Prize was a Joke...Hussein O was not in any public office or in any position of authority long enough in his life to have earned such an honor. He was and still is clueless as to how to be a true leader. It was a bribe to get him to do what someone wanted him to do...
What he has done so far in Libya is too little too late. This is one country that needed our help most urgently. He still thinks Qaddafi will step down of his own accord...He is an idiot. Qaddafi will fight till his back is to the wall.

What do you call money given to an official to "urge" them to do your bidding?

I believe I mentioned that in my Response..lol By the way I am retracting my statement on Libya. I have since found info that makes me feel that we absolutely should not be interfering in that country. The people rebelling are not innocent citizens. They are the same groups of people who helped train the terrorists who flew planes into the NYC Towers and blew the plane out of the air over Scotland. They should be allowed to fight it out and maybe kill each other off so that the REAL citizens can finally have peace.

The nobel peace prize was awarded to President Obama in good faith and conscience. He should be given a chance to show he was worthy of receiving it. it would defeat all purpose if he were to return it and he should not have to.

QUESTION: Should Obama return his Nobel Peace Prize?
ANSWER: Well overdue

Obama is in a tough very tought situation, even when prominent congress senators were calling for no- fly zone, he was reluctant to respond to it. Now that the United Nation has passed a resulotion calling for action against Lybia, Obama has no choice. He wants a limited engagement. I do think he should return that prize.

The Nobel Peace prize is supposed to be given for an outstanding accomplishment, of which Barack Obama has none, so he never should have accepted the award in the first place. Morally, he should have returned the award, but now it would be bad PR, and it would take some humility to say he was undeserving, something of which he is sorely lacking.

I wondering after reading this, what he has done to get that Nobel peace prize. I dont think US is not in a peaceful moment or their neighbouring countries. And recent bombing in Libya. I would say if he can work for his countryman and financial status of his fellow people, he can be considered. But he dont deserve it at all!

could somebody remind just exactly what he did to receive the Nobel Peace Prize? as far as I know it was for a promise that he would bring peace. he was inaugurated in Jan 09 and he was awarded the prize in Oct 09 what did he do? was it because he is a Socialist and the prize was given by the socialist scandinavia?
other notable winners:
1978 anwar sadat
1994 yasser arafat
2001 kofi annan
thoes are the few winners ( criminals ) he shares the honor with
