Ensuring that my pets are cared for while i was away

People go away on breaks each year, some people just get a person to pop in and check on the pets that they had to leave at home, other people like me have a house sitter, or in my case a few house and pet sitters.I planned before i went away, to ensure that all the animals were going to be looked after properly.I ordered bulk pet food that pets at home delivered before i went and i ensured that my daughters and their fellas were going to be here and when they had to pop to work, that my mums fella would be here.I know that they were all looked after, as well as that they all missed us while we were away, as we all got purrs, kisses, etc.

You have a pretty great organization skills. And a very good pet owner too. I sometimes miss to plan for pets at times. LOL. I'm so rude. :( but I would try to fix things out even when I am already out. I would call a friend to attend to my pets and maybe do some of the chores I forgot to assign to anyone I left home. :)

I had planned this break away very well, so well that i have doubled the amount of pet food, as i also had more delivered when i came home as well.I had left all the telephone numbers for my daughter, as well as my mums partner, just incase they needed me or a vet.I know that the people that i leave in charge are animal lovers as well as that they can cope, but all the same i did ring each day just to ensure all was well, lol.

U are a responsible pet owner. U do care a lot for your pets and make all the necessary arrangements for them before leaving. U have great family members willing to help u too, and so u are able to enjoy yourself, while your pets have the same kind of fun in the house too. I'm sure your pets missed u too, because they know u have not forgotten about them, while u are having fun.

All the animals were all looked after really well.My daughter was shocked to see my cats going into my room looking to see if i was about. Also that the dogs barked at her when she went outside to call my other cat in, as they are not use to her calling late at night, they are only use to hearing my husband calling outside.

You have a nice opportunity if you have family that can watch over the critters. We have been able to use friends and neighbors in the past. Keeping the pets at home is less expensive than the kennel, the pets like it better, and it is an opportunity for someone to make a little spending money. I'm sure you found all doing well when you got home. Hope so, anyhow.

My son is here at night with my cats, but they are on their own in the daytime. Even if we are just gone for the day, they are also glad to see us come back.

I know that even they were taken care of, they did miss me,lol, as my daughter told me that they kept going in my room looking.I think thay are not use to the quiet when i am away with the children, as there are always loads going on in the house when we are all here.

One of the hardest things to do when you're going on vacation is to find someone to watch the house and the pets. While I'm not crazy about having to rent a room to someone to make ends meet, the advantage is, when I leave, I have someone to take care of both the house and the pets. And it gives him a chance to live without someone always around...me.

Thankfully i have good relations as well as some really good friends that will always look in as well as stay at my house while i am away.I hate to think that one of the pets may need a vet or something when noone is there in the day time, so i have always had people house and pet sit.

A true pet owner jusjugs! Currently where I live we are not allowed to have pets (*sad*) But if I did I would do just like you. Pet owners must always treat their pets as a family member. In which case that includes, assuring that while away they are cared for. So you did wonderfully well making sure your pet was cared for. I do hope you had a wonderful time on your trip and are well rested.

I often look after the little dog next door and I know I spoil him too much so much so he tries so hard to dig his way under the fence to get to my place and he knows my name , when the owner mentions my name he runs to the fence, I love spoiling the pets I look after...

When ever the people next to me went away they use to get me to look after all their pets, nowadays my older children have to go and do it if they just need looking in on.They are like us they also have older children, which would prefer to have a house party and the run of the house, rather than tagging along with their younger brothers.

That's what most pet owners and pet lovers would do because they cant bring their pets along with them to holiday trips.. haha =D BUt i dun think my friends would allow their relatives to come into the house when nobody is in. The most they do is leave lots of food around for the pets to eat, or just send them to pets hotel for a few days.. haha

I often help out my parents look after their pets while they are away. My dad has 3 bunnies I'll look after. They are easy. I just have to change the litter once a week and check on them every two days to ensure the food and water are topped up. They are nervous animals and so don't require a lot of affection. I try to pet them but they don't know me well enough and mostly just run away. Right now I'm house sitting for my mom and taking care of my cat.I just have to empty his litter box every couple days and feed him his wet food twice a day. He has one of those neverending dry food and wet food feeders. He requires lots of attention...which i love to give!

U are fortunate to have that many people to check on your pets for u. I know it's quite expensive from what i hear to board them here. I have never done that w/my dog because i never go anywhere, lol.

Your pets must appreciate you coming home to them! When I would go away, my cats wouldn't talk to me for a few days. I guess they were mad at me for leaving them and wanted nothing to do with me. I never had a house sitter, but I would have someone come and feed them and stay with them for awhile. I try to do that if I am watching someone's animal. They probably don't care, but I think they shouldn't be alone all of the time. One time, I watched someone's pet in my home. They went on vacation, and when they came home, they didn't want her back so I kept her.

I know that you really care for your pets, as well as i know that they are really spoilt.I wish every pet owner was the same as you, as that way there would be less neglected pets around.I think that it is great that you plan for all the things ahead as well as that there are alot of people out there that will also help out when it come to your pets.

hi friend, we never go on vacation altogether so my mom is left at home together with my aunt and a house help, being 78 my mom does not travel much anymore so the pets are always accompanied. We also seldom leave for more than two days because of the nature of my business and whenever we do we see to it that pet food is well stocked.

I am glad that even if my relations could not have looked after my pets, i know that a very good friend of mine would have stayed here and looked after them, as well as my house. It is great to know that there are people out there that will come in and spend time with my pets if i ever need to get away.

Hi there! wow, From your statement, I can really feel that these pets are very important and well loved by their owners. I do have a pet too but then we are not able to get a person who can pet sit him or visit him anytime we are away. What we do is we just put all the food that he can eat while we are away and we try our best to get home as fast as we can :)

This is the first time that we have been away from the house for over four years and all the pets are use to having someone here all of the time.I am happy to think that while we were a way i had less to worry about, knowing that all the animals were taken care of.

I usually when family goes away, am the house sitting, dog walker, and yard watcher... I have not gone on family trips or out for a long time.. But I like to walk around in the country, and play with their dogs.. They are fun buggers.. I noticed many times when family leaves their pets gets nervous and do not eat their dog food or treats for a couple of days, others do the opposite and will over gobble if you allow them. I also used to take care of 60 horses too when my Dad went away. it was hard work.. but I loved it... just did not care for the back ache if I did the chores to fast the first day :) ..

Fortunately because of our financial situation, Hubby and I can really only afford to go away for a few nights at a time. We put a BIIIIIG bowl of water down for the cat, and a biiiiig bowl of food down for him, make sure the heat and the radio are on for him, and the litter is clean, and go for about three days max. If we are going to be away longer, we will have someone look in on him.

I have six cats and that is without the dogs and other pets, so i could not even do that for a night, lol.I always make sure that there is a person or two here all the time that we are a way for, as you never know if there is ever a problem with one of them.I have two old cats, they are use to certain noises, so with the children not being here, my daughter had to act as them and put music on,lol, either that or she had a party.

I've really never gone anywhere without my pets. My dogs are almost always with us. I can't remember when I had to ask someone to take care of them.

When I lived close to my parents, I would often go to their house to take care of their animals whenever they went out of town. They have horses, chickens, cats, dogs and fish, so it was really important to make sure that I got there on a regular schedule. In addition to myself, there was another lady who would go check on them as well. As for me, I think that if and when I ever go on a vacation, my little puppy will just have to go along with me. I cannot even imagine having to leave her at home or take her to a kennel for bording. My fish, on the other hand, would have to be taken care of. If I were only going for a few days, they would be okay with a weekend feeder, but if it were any longer than that, I would have to ask someone else to feed them for me.

That is so nice of you, for me my pets are like kids. It must be really sad to travel, I don't think I can. I planned to meet Tokyo Disney one day then I found my first cat that was sooo sick and brought him home, because of that I didn't go out for really long hours but fine, then my dog came: she was LOCKED INSIDE A CAGE FOR YEARS and she was really depressed, afraid of touching...Now I don't go out for long hours for sure. She is always in my lap, she's really happy 2 years later and even have more confidence! LOL, she still sometimes looking little sad so I never leave her for too long alone, then she passes the whole day really happy.

All my pets are use to alot of noise from the children, as well as people popping in and out all day, so they never have a dull moment, that is another reason for someone being here with them all the time,so am i here all day with them, so to go away, knowing that they are not use to not having me at home was not a great feeling. However i know that all were looked after really well.
