So, I've came to the conclusion that the computer could be like Big Brother. Just think about it. People on the Internet can tell you what your IP Address is and you don't even know. They know exactly what websites your household has been on. They know what TV channel you are watching at any given time. There was a day when Neilson Rating were done on paper. Now you download a program and wham they know everything you don't even have to talk to them or fill out questionaire. They know how many people watch any given show at any given time. What are your thought on the new technology allowing Big Brother to be watching us? Do you think that the internet is like Big Brother? Best Wishes Everyone and happy typing!

I imagine what you mean is that personal privacy can be opened more easily on Internet. This was a really problem now i think. So people enjoy the conveniece and shortcut with the computer, meanwhile people is in danger of personal privacy being opened more easily. But i think computer is designed by people, i don't think computer can control people and know what people think in one day.

You are correct sam19810528 computer can't control thoughts. I do think some people are addicted to the Internet and therefore, are controlled by the computer to some extent. It not necessarily, in the BB mode but it is control.

That last part, if and was changed to but I would agree Anyone else following what America is doing to WikiLeaks Twitter followers? Not even that, how many American politicians have shown concern about the use of the net with connection to the Arab revolutions? There is no such thing as privacy. There are laws for privacy but laws can be broken by those whom have power.

I've often wondered how the Neilson's were compiled now. Are they putting chips into the televisions? I know that with the internet, that tracking cookies are deposited at every page. It's frustrating trying to delete them all of the time and then it takes longer for the pages to load. And we just don't know how much the government is snooping or not snooping. Everyone with a computer is subject to prying Big Brother eyes.

I wish I could answer the chips in tvs, but I don't exactly know how it works. I just know they don't use the paper surveys anymore.

I personally have no problem with big brother watching me, because I do not divulge any personal information on the net about me and or my life that may in some form ruin anything about me. So it really depends on how people are divulging their information. I feel these days people are misusing how they use the net because of so many fragile security sites and the easy access to their privacy. There is so much a person should be listing but somehow some people do not understand that.

I believe you are correct. If people wouldn't release their personal information, they could protect themselves alot easier. It's great to find old friend and chat but you don't have to let it all hangout on the line for everyone to see. Thanks
