how would be your life without a TV?

There has been three weeks that I don´t watch tv... why? For many reason. The strongest is that my father raised me this way. He always got mad if he arrived home and found us watching TV. He used to call it the "idiot box". I think this is the strongest reason. I enjoy watching House some nights, to sleep. But what I love the best is my pc (I can´t live without my pc), and if I´m not on line, I ´m running 7 kms, or at the gym, or I cook or I play tennis, or I attend a mass, or I study music, or I make home chores, or I make school homework with kids. If we don´t think about the new multifunction tv with pc, of course, hehe: What would your life be, without a tv? Blessings!... Dainy

hi,days are there when some of our older generation had no television or pc or internet , they didnt even had radio or transistors whatever, they got every information from people.Nowadays we get information from media which is from tv or means of communications.so nowdays we cant go without them.too much towards them is wasting time however there are much valuable things we learn from them.

Yes umabharti you are right. I can´t figure my life without a pc, when we bought our first pc, I told my husband it wasn´t a luxury, it was a real need. We must select what we watch on tv or how much time we spent in any mean of communications. Isn´t it? Kind Blessings!... Dainy

Hello Aerous! You are right! Tv may be a very good informative media, my eldest kid of 10 loves history channel. And my husband enjoys watching the news in the mornings. So the best is to set what to watch and when to watch it... Don´t you think so? Kind blessings!... Dainy

Yes I understand you, my mother used to set me time to watch it. One hour after having meals, and then we went to make exercise. I try to set times for the kids but if I am involved with house chores, or my eshop demands, I can´t be careful of how much time they watch. So I inscribe them in tennis. Though, they have a little time after meals to watch tv, and then my husband or I take them to their sport´s activities. But yesterday night, I was so tired that I went to sleep and I didn´t want to argue with kids and let them watch as much tv as they wanted. But now I am affraid that the smallest one may have watch some pxrn... I feel very ashamed and sad, I talked to my husband this morning. And ask him for help by nights, when it´s time to go to bed. The kids began Lent vacations on friday, so they think and they feel as they could watch all the tv, they want. I have to be very aware of it, and set them times, it wont happen again that my small kid keep awake late watching tv. If I go to sleep, he must go to sleep too, even if he argues, and cries, and bla bla bla. Don´t you think so? Blessings!... Dainy

Well, if you can set the time for each individual to watch TV in your home. Much better because everything will be put in place...

While there is a tv in my room, I have only turned it on one time and that was because there was a football game from my alma mater. I have been in this room since Jan 26 and I just don't watch tv. I am on the computer all the time. I used to be addicted to the "boob tube" as my dad called it, but then I started going to school and lost interest in it. I'm not interested in most of the garbage that is on it so why bother.

Life without a tv is just as it is now. I really dont find the television very interesting. i usually spend all my day on the internet or studying. Or maybe i go out and hang with some friends. Some people might feel that I am weird but the only time you might find me watching tv is if someone ask me to watch a movie with them or something of the sort. but otherwise from that you will never see me take up the remote to watch tv. Well that is me though and i dont know what so many people find interesting in that box. Well I am still young but tv is still just not my thing, the internet is.

Yes it has become important in ones life. We need it for everything nowadays. i couldnt live without mine. Right now my desktop has crashed and dig up the whole place recently to find my old laptop. I found it and hook it up to the internet. Even though it is real slow and outdated. Atleast I am here being able to still enjoy latptop. It cant really work on facebook though or none of those sites because it will freeze. But it is working with my favourite site so I am lucky for the time being. Computer to me is life. Television is nothing.

I don't watch TV from last years. I do live in hostel and when i go back home then i do watch TV. But i am completely fine without watch TV.As i couldn't watch TV that's why i can save my time. And i can read well. And when i feel boring then i just find any TV shows to internet and watch them. Now a days every TV program we can get in online so it's doesn't bother that we don't watch TV or don't have any TV to house. Have a good time!

Reading is a great hobby dreamsharmin. I used to read a lot, but since I am mom, it is not so easy to have some relax time to read, just at the "private room" 1o1 . So I am happy that you can use your spare time wisely and catch some peaceful entertainment some time! On January my husband and I went to a business travel, and at the hotel room we tried the new multifunction tv, we had pc and tv together in a 55" wide screen. It was gorgeous. I can´t live without pc, he can´t live without tv. This new tech is great. I wish we could afford to pay for one. Have a good time you too! =) Kind blessings Dreamsharmin!... Dainy

Hi dainy! I used to watch alot more tv than I do now. I pretty much don't watch much at all. I am usually online here or doing something on the computer. I will watch sometimes late at night to relax. I just don't enjoy the shows on right now as much as I used to. And if I do watch I like to watch stuff that makes me laugh!

I never watch TV. Last time I regularly watched TV was about 12 years ago when I still lived at my parents home. Today, I have 1 TV, which is unplugged, and sitting next to the window. I have yet to plug it in, or turn it on since I moved into my home 7 years ago. I have not missed it. Most of what is on TV is junk. Even what is simi-worth watching, is so cluttered with commercials, that it's not worth it. So... no TV for me.

But I am weak, and when my husband and kids watch tv, sometimes I watch it with them, even when I was willing to read at those moments. You have what my father would had loved in me. Hi Dainy, I can very well express the experience. For the last 2 months, I didn't renew the TV subscription as the exams are going on and children are at home. The main advantage is that if the TV is not functional, I think we will get enough time for all other things. We can do all works so beautifully and nicely taking adequate time. If we don't have any plans, I think it is really a killer time and all other work will do to 'just finish only'. However, we need a TV at home at any point of time. Only thing, we should be strict on what and when we should spend time for it. As we know, we have all 365 days and 24 hrs programs through out the day. As this is a fact, we need to priorities and take wise decisions. Also, it is not just an idiot box, because, there are are so much of useful and highly informative programs. TV become idiot intelligent only when we synchronize the programs only. I say one best example that recently the tsunami and earthquake happened in Japan and I was really missed all the news. Really, I prayed if I had the TV connection and I immediately recharged the connection within an hours time. So, it is important and we require a TV but all depend on how we utilise them. As you said, if someone comes at home, they will really get irritated if the people are sitting around the TV. Only what we do is we should learn the basic things with regard to life and TV usage. Thank-s

I wish here at home (yours too) we´d have two months without tv. This will make my kids and husband. more conscious of the house chores. Hehe. Kind blessings Thank-s!... Dainy

Hi dainy! My life is no longer influenced by the TV It has been so many years that I am not watching TV anymore. I remember our pastor in the church call it "one-eyed monster". Back home in the Philippines, I had the TV removed in the sitting room. Anyone who would like to watch TV should do it in their bedrooms, especially that most of the TV shows in my country are junkies. I believe that I have more worthy things to do rather than sit in front of the TV. Cheers!

Hey Bella! This is a new great name "One-eyed-monster" my father would have love to use this therm! Well I think there are some informative good programs on cable TV, they reach the whole world almost, (I even don´t watch them, but my family does). The best is to profit of the good things on the tv, with measure. Set what to watch, and how many time should we spent on it. And do not stop doing our worthy things. Don´t you think so? =) Kind blessings!... Dainy

Well,in the past years I become more and more interested in my PC and I began to spend less time watching TV;right know as I'm typing my TV is open, but I don't watch it,I just listen to it like a radio without paying too much attention.Anyway, the TV is no longer indispensable,I can live without it,but I still need it sometimes to watch soccer matches.Anyway,I'm sure that in a short time classical TV sets will disappear, they will probaby be integrated in PCs or other gadgets,so pretty soon we'll only see these devices in museums.

Haaaaaaaaa hahaha you are right Polaris! You are so right! Time will come when we´ll tell our grandsons, I used to watch cartoons in one of those museum devices! Hahaha OMG! I love my pc, the tv now bores me. I´ve noticed that if I don´t watch House, I get asleep with the tv. Hahaha. I envie you because you can be multimastery. My brain doesn´t allows me to hear the tv, as a radio. Lucky of you for your multimastery brain! I think this is because I am not so used to tv. My husband and my kids can have tv on, while they do something else... Have you tried the new multitask tvs??? They are great! My husband and I tried one of those on January during a business meeting. They are gorgeous!! Blessings!!... Dainy

When I was a child the TV did not broadcast 24 hours here in Italy. There were only 2 channels that started broadcasting in the afternoon and ended at midnight. Only on Monday you could see 1 film and children's programs were very few. So I rarely watched TV but when I could see a movie or a cartoon I was really happy and hypnotized in front of it. Now, when I turn on the TV, makes me sick to see how many programs you can choose, at any time of day and night, but rarely I'm very interested in one of them, and after some zapping I turn it off (and turn on PC obviously)

That is actually one of my regrets as being a kid. I would watch atleast 3 hours of TV a day. If I didn't watch TV back then I would have probably taken up a hobby, or worked on a skill. I don't watch TV that much anymore and I find myself happier, and generally more awake to things. My grandpa referred to it as an idiot box too, and the remote was the idiot stick.

Hahaha Joeyfish I feel happy that my father hasn´t been the only to call it idiot box, hahahaha.... what is new to me is the "idiot stick" hahaha, (I´ll use it soon hehe). However, I think that people that watch tv more often or more time, had the ability to concentrate better. I´ve seen it. Because I come up and down, turn, and return. Run and walk, and it is really hard to me to stay concentrated for a long period. Kind blessings!... Dainy

I would be very very happy!! Though I grew up with a TV in the house and no one has ever stopped me from watching, I've always been picky about what I watch. Now that I am married and have my own kids, I don't watch television regularly....and neither did my older son till his little brother came along. It feels like....6 years my older son didn't know of the existence of the 'idiot box' and now he can't get enough of it!! My mom's partly to be blamed...she got him started on all the shows she would watch when I went home to have my second baby....and 4 years later, I'm still trying to get both of them off it :( If the TV isn't switched on in the morning, things are fine...but once it is...it's never switched off!

Hi Daniy. TV who needs it like your father says it is an idot box. With all the stupid shows they have on it not worth watching at all. I was raised not watching TV we didn't even own a TV or a radio. Mom said it was of the devil so she wouldn't have one in the house. So I can do without TV. The only time we usually turn on the TV is when the news is on. We watch the news waiting for signs of the times of the LORDS coming. It will be all over the news when the anti christ comes so that is the main reason we watch the news. Don't want to do without the computer that is how we get to listen our teacher of Gods word.

I am lost without my TV. When my husband and I go to see the grandkids in another state, we aren't allowed to watch TV. I understand that the kids parents aren't ok with that and I respect that, but I am lost without my news and sports. I have to say, it gives us great catch up time with the kids, we read and play games and color etc. I know if we turn the TV on, the kids stare at it and can't hear you talk to them, they show no interest in anything else. But I think that is because they don't ever see it. Where my kids just go about their business whether it is on or not. We really don't sit and watch TV all the time. I start my day by turning on the news and listening to it while I get ready for my day. Sometimes it is on in my house and no one is watching it, but especially when I am home alone, I like the company. Even if I'm not in the same room. I do agree we watch too much and the role models aren't that great but me without my news and sports is not a pretty site.
