I really think like that .. Even after being an Indian, I would like this cup to be leafted by the captain of a country that have never won the cricket world cup before.. Teams like South Africa, New Zealand and also England.. They have never won the World Cup before.. Specially England have been runners for many times and also South Africa have been among the top teams but they have never won it.. I would really like them to win this one.. What do you think..?

Hi Soumya You are from India that is why you think in terms of reservations like they have for seats in colleges and government offices. Why not have a rotation policy and give the trophy to the associate nations like Ireland and Canada. So Australia has won it thrice so for the next 10 world cups no prizes for australia. I am just pulling your leg, don't mind. I know your heart goes out to those who don't win despite trying so hard. It is a competition , you know level playing field and all that jazz. you fight to win and no free gifts. Let the best team win. let our team play like champions and win.

More often we have seen the best team loose to a team who never deserved to win.. and the deserving team loose just because of luck factor or some times because of some nonsense rules.. Like South Africa .. When there was no Dark worth Luise rule.. their target was so easy before rain and after the rain, their target was 22 runs of 1 ball.... I specially feel for south Africa .. because they have proved many times that they are among the leading teams and some times the best.. But then you know the things happens to them always.. Ties in the semis two times.. and both the times they were knocked out.. What you say..?

Given the way today's quarter final between Sri Lanka and England is placed, the only such team left in the semis would be New Zealand. The other three semi partners look to be India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka each of whom has won the trophy at least once. I think India is going to lift this cup :). Cheers! Ram

Sporting laurels are not distributed as charities they are to be won by the might of the sportsmen who give their everything to achieve the excellence in the respective fields. If England or South Africa or New Zealand could not win the cup so far because they have not reached the level of excellence that is required to win it. For those who have won it there may be 10 % of the chance of stroke of luck but balance 90 % is their capability which have won them the cup. Take for instance West Indies in 75, 79, India in 83, Pakistan in 92, Sri Lanka in 96, Australia in 99 - 07, the teams were really good and they won the cups by outclassing their opponents. I can consider only Australian win in 87 as stroke of luck because then Australia were not good enough, India, Pakistan were tipped to win that cup. This time around also let the best team in the business win the cup.
